Seller Insight Just across the lane from the latter is Church House, a lovely family home that was built in the 19th Century.

“When we moved to Cambridgeshire from London just over four years ago we were looking for a beautiful home in a countryside location that would allow us to grow as a family,” says Louise. “The very first time we set foot inside Church House we loved it, and we still do. It has a wonderfully warm vibe and it’s very quirky with a great sense of history; all things that really appealed to us.”

“The house was originally a barn and a coach house which were combined and renovated around twenty-five years ago,” continues Louise. “The work was done to an extremely high standard and in a way that was sympathetic to the history of the building, so it retains a great deal of character. We could see that it had the most wonderful potential for us as a family, and we were able to add a few touches of our own. We created a beautiful library area and a small study, and in recent months we’ve remodelled the bathrooms, which are now gorgeous. It’s just a lovely warm house that is very open, particularly downstairs, and so as well as being a fabulous family home it’s also great for entertaining.”

“The garden is beautiful,” says Louise, “and very low maintenance, which really appealed to us. It’s a real sun trap so you can sit out and enjoy it for hours, and because we’re set well away from the road we don’t hear cars, just birdsong; it’s wonderfully peaceful.”

“Bartlow is a very special place,” says Louise, “with a really good sense of community. It’s a small village but all the residents are very fond of one another. We have a friendly pub just along the road from us, but for my day-to-day needs I usually head to Linton. We’re also close to both Saffron Walden and Cambridge, so although this is a rural setting we feel very connected.”

“There is an amazing sense of space throughout the house, but particularly in the living room,” says Louise.

“It has a vaulted ceiling and a beautiful galleried landing running above one section. It also has a few sets of French doors onto the garden, so we can really bring the outside in during the summer months.”

“We love the fact that we can open the front door, step out and walk for miles,” says Louise, “and the children love to play hide-and-seek on the hills. It’s a very safe and family orientated place to live.”

“We have had four wonderful years at Church House,” says Louise, “and we would love to stay longer, but our circumstances have changed and so it’s with heavy hearts that we

have decided to move. It has been a magical time in our lives and we will take with us so many very special memories.”
