LENT - A TIME TO BE WITH GOD Lent offers us all a very special opportunity to grow in our relationship with God and to deepen our commitment to a way of life that lives out our baptism. In our busy world, Lent provides us with an opportunity to reflect upon our lives, to pray more deeply, express our sorrow for what we've done and failed to do, and to be generous to those in need. Lord, I know how much you love me. It’s hard for me to feel it sometimes, but I know your love is always with me. Help me to use your love to fulfil the Lenten call to pray, fast and help others. Even though this will sometimes be a struggle, I know that with your help, I can use these small sacrifices in my life to draw closer to you. AMEN! “ASPIRE NOT TO HAVE MORE, BUT TO BE MORE!” 2018 SCHOOL FEES & LEVIES Book Levies($420 per child) are now overdue and Term 1 School Fees ($245) are due by Friday 24th February. Could you please ensure prompt payment of your fees. Thank you to those families who have already paid. It is greatly appreciated. We understand it is not always easy to pay the school fees, but you made a commitment to pay the fees on your child’s enrolment form. Those families who hold a current Health Care Card will receive a $100 off their family school fees, plus $125 per child from the government towards camp, sport and excursion costs. If families would to set up a payment plan or are having difficulty please see Leonie, Elisabeth or Brendan. Dear Parents/Carers, Staff and Students, Chuc mung nam moi!! Xīnnián kuàilè!! On Wednesday the whole school community gathered to celebrate Ash Wednesday—and the beginning of Lent. It was a lovely celebration, during which Fr Rene encouraged us to grow closer to God. Archbishop Hart also explained that “Lent is a time for ‘Spring cleaning’ our souls. It’s a time to rearrange things, find ways to create more room, a better space . . . for God.” Let us support each other on our Lenten journeys of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. The ‘3-way conversations’ are next week. Teachers are looking forward to meeting with you and your child and learning how to best work together. Conversation times are going home today—please make sure you attend and are on time. Our Family Picnic is on Thursday 27th February. This is a great chance to meet staff and parents and really get to know our school community. Bring your own food, chairs, blankets and drinks. There will be a sausage sizzle to share. This year well- known performer Andrew Chinn will be presenting a concert with the children involved—so it promises to be a great night!! Thank you to those families who have been contacting the school if their child is away. A new State Government Regulation now requires schools to contact families if their children are not at school and an explanation has not been given. Please contact the school by 9:00am if your child is absent. Be sure to read the calendar on the back of the newsletter and keep it in a place that you can check regularly.
