Biography

Born April 24, 1973Earliest memories of

music were songs learned in Primary, for his Church.

Took piano lessons at the age of 8 years old.

Due to the loss of a dear friend he sought comfort in music.

Cardall took piano lessons from Craig Kaelin.

His Beginning

Love for Service

Served a 2 year mission for the LDS church

Served as Fine Arts President, Public Relations Vice President for SLCC, and President of the Student Leadership Council.

Served as BYU’s counselor for Family Program Especially for Youth Camp

Acts of Service

Cardall has hosted many fundraisers aiding those with congenital heart issues.

Played music at the Oklahoma City bombing memorial ceremonies.

His service is known throughout the United States

Work Experience

Performed for audiences at Nordstorm and in fine dining restaurants.

Worked at Evans Book Distribution as the music executive.

Began his music career working for Narada, a division of Virgin Records America.

Started his own record label, Stone Angel Music. Has been running for over 10

years.

•Cardall was born with half a heart.•In August 2008 he suffered a severe heart failure which he was placed on the heart transplant list.•He waited 385 days, and on September 10, 2009 Cardall received his new heart.

Paul is married to wife Lynette and have one child together, a daughter named Eden.

Our Love

Dedicated to his wife Lynette and based on his tune from the song ‘Grateful’ from the “Songs of Praise” album. He quotes Spencer W. Kimball (former LDS Church President)“Some think of happiness as a glamorous life of ease, luxury, and constant thrills; but true marriage is based on a happiness which comes from giving, serving, sharing, sacrificing, and selflessness.”

0.00 Intro- Begins with a steady quarter note which is constant through the entire song. Regulates the tempo.

0.09 The melody begins, it is piano with a smooth rhythm and a motif that repeats with little variation, only moving up or down on the last note. A pentatonic and cadence is present.

0.47 Guitar is added, single strum set to its own melody. The guitar adds a nice timbre.

1.06 A sound is added, similar to a high voice. It fills out the space to link the melody and the guitar.

1.16 Crescendo ends and a decrescendo begins, like in an arc contour.

1.36 Crescendo to a forte with all instruments. The voice sound is much more defined after this point.

2.08 The voice is more drawn out,

almost a howling. 2.15 Howling and voice ceases.

Melody goes back to original, piano. 2.38 Begins to build to forte. 2.39 Crescendos to a forte and voice

begins again. There is much repetition in the rhythm.

2.51 Voice again changes to a howling to accent the melody.

3.10 Howling is emphasized as it gets louder and repeats preparing to switch again to piano melody.

3.17 Original soft melody again starts. 3.38 Final musical statement, the

sound gets more piano. The piano and guitar end on the same moment. The guitar strum holds until silence.

3.42 Guitar fades out and ends.

0.12 Slow melody starts, a series of notes played in groups of 3 with the last held out. Each set played twice. Normal, high, normal, low is the recurring pattern.

0.35 The melody starts to hit high keys. 1.07 The melody hits its low pitch. 1.20 Faint noises of children playing in

the background and laughing start. 1.28 The melody hits even higher than

previous in the song, adding to the children’s laughing.

1.37 The melody completely changes. Very piano, and very light timbre. Very high piano keys.

2.05 A distortion noise starts moving back and forth between the left and right channels. Like an electric guitar. The

sound almost mixes with the children’s playful screaming.

2.10 The final notes in each section of the melody hold out to mix with the distortion noises and the playing children.

2.37 The distortion moves very high in pitch to an oo-ing.

2.40 The distortion swirls and mixes from both channels, as if surrounding the laughter.

3.03 Distortion notes lengthen. The whole note that was pacing the song fades and disappears.

3.07 The distortion decrescendos and fades out. The piece seemed to be played softly and then pianos off as it fades.

1987

This was the year that Cardall had reconstructive heart surgery which has now lead, over a 20 year period, to being listed on the heart transplant list. His faith in God and love of his family and life began as he endured the trauma of this event.

0.35 Crescendos up the scale with it sounding louder than at the beginning. The melody changes by dropping the repeating note, leaving a pause where they were, and playing short scales to emphasize half the remaining notes.

1.18 The song has the second verse end, it calms down for a bit and becomes more piano.

1.24 Melody picks back up for the next verse but at a higher, louder key. This verse more forte notes.

2.03 The tempo slows and the notes lengthen
