Within numerous Oracle project teams, I have been involved in the full project life cycle of client software systems and their maintenance. In the course of software projects, I have taken a practical and adaptable approach to work in achieving successful project delivery, as a dependable and autonomous team member. Personally and professionally, I seek opportunities that will supplement and improve my business and technical skills. Qualities and Transferable skills Teamwork: Performed fault finding diagnostics for software enhancements developed by a project team member. Reviewed and redesigned the faulty software that represented the business rules for sending customer notifications. This enabled the project team deliver a number of high profile solutions to the client within the agreed timescale. Supported graduates over a 2 year period to become more competent developers. Mentored graduates in the use of software tools and familiarisation of company coding standards. This has led to 2 graduates being promoted to the position of Junior Developer on the completion of their probation. Communication skills: Reviewed existing procedures for the management of the client’s internal help desk system. Discussed and designed a new protocol for the existing system in consultation with the client. This resulted in the improvement of the customer experience in resolving their software issues and reduced the volume of unresolved issues. Replaced an existing manual process with a new software application that allowed for the introduction of new legislative requirements and governmental directives for off shore fishing. Designed and implemented software solutions in discussion with the client that enabled them to manage, alter and publish fishing licences to applicants. This enabled the client to quickly amend and issue the appropriate licence and maintain a record of amendments and changes.

I consider myself as a resourceful software development professional and a long standing member of the British Computing Society. Initiated a dialogue with an internal software development team to develop and implement new software functionality within the existing GIS system. Identified and determined data fixes to the main database. Presented a business case that enabled Business Analyst resolve internal processes and procedures relating to the recording of land ownership. As a result, the volume of data issues raised by the end users to their line manager has greatly reduced

Enabled the end user to print fishing licenses for multiple applicants in a single batch within the limitations of the software environment. Designed and implemented new software functionality that utilised new database components whilst working around numerous software bugs. This enabled the client to print a large number of fishing licenses, on demand and in a timely manner.

Client focus: Delivered a customer focused personal banking service via the telephone. Responded to and processed customer enquiries and requests though the use of Standard Life banking software and its website. Operated within and delivered a customer

centered service as stipulated by Standard Life bank procedures. This resulted in the delivery of prompt and accurate transactions and valued customer service.

Supported and guided elderly residents in a supported accommodation environment in their use of a PC and software tools. Mentored individuals on a 1-2-1 basis in how to make best use of available software tools. This enabled residence to confidently access web based facilities to search the Internet for topics of interest, to communicate with relatives and purchase goods online.

Time management:Responded to and delivered a software solution to resolve customer issues arising within their application to an agreed timeframe. Reviewed and analysed the customer’s application issue, determined the best course of action, then developed and implemented the solution into the live application. This resulted in the issue being resolved within the required timeframe and to the customer satisfaction.

Managed client helpdesk whilst identifying and remedying root causes to common application issues raised by end users. Worked independently on investigating the cause of common user issues through setting own priorities, providing progress reports to management, generating weekly reports on trends to issues raised and present recommendations for project improvements. As a result, the number of issues being raised and are outstanding has reduced to its lowest level recorded.

The Improvement Service: September 2009 to September 2013

Maintained clients web portals, batch processes and Oracle 11g database with the use of SQL Developer and Oracle E-Business Suite 11g.

Coordinated with colleagues and client in the production, system testing and implementation of system enhancements, including performance enhancements.

Worked with 3rd parties in managing secure access and utilisation of client’s web services. Suppled ad-hoc and monthly reports to client.

Additional Information

I had been volunteering with Bield Housing Association for 10 years in supporting the elderly in the use of computers. This ended in 2015 as the need for my support was no longer required.

From the start of 2014 I had been training for my 1st sprint triathlon, which I successfully completed at Aviemore in August 2014. I continue my training with Edinburgh Triathletes and now aim to complete an Olympic distance triathlon.
