PRAYER BEFORE THE DIVINE OFFICE

Open my lips, O Lord, to praise Your holy Name.

Cleanse my heart of any vain, evil, or distracting

thoughts. Give light to my mind and fervor to my will;

enable me to recite this Office worthily, attentively and

devoutly, so that my prayer will be heard in the

presence of Thy divine Majesty. Through Christ our

Lord. Amen.

Lord, I offer You this Hour with the same divine

intention You had while on earth offering praises to

God.

Pater noster. Ave Maria.

marvelous exchange! Man’s Creator has

become man, born of a virgin. We have

been made sharers in the divinity of Christ Who

humbled Himself to share in our humanity.

The LORD’s| revelation to my lord: * “Sit at My right hand:{SIT}

Until I make * Your foes Your footstool.” {ALL}

The LORD will send from Sion Your scepter of power: *{CANTOR}

rule in the midst of Your foes.

In holy splendor, from the womb before the dawn *

I have begotten You.

The LORD has sworn an oath He will not change: *

“You are a priest forever, in the line of Melchizedek.”

The LORD, standing at Your right, *

y Your miraculous birth of the

Virgin You have fulfilled the

Scriptures: like a gentle rain falling upon

the earth You have come down to save

Your people. O God, we praise You.

Praise, O| servants of the LORD,* praise the Name of the LORD! {SIT}

May the Name of the LORD be blest * both now and forevermore!

From the rising of the sun to its setting, *

praised be the Name of the LORD!

High above all nations is the LORD, * above the heavens His glory.

Who is like the LORD, our God, * who dwells on high,

Who lowers Himself to look down * upon heaven and earth?

From the dust He lifts up the lowly, *

from the ash heap He raises the poor,

To set them in the company of princes, *

yes, with the princes of His people.

To the childless wife He gives a home *

as a joyful mother of children.

Glory to the Father and to the Son * and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is now * and will be forever. Amen.

Ps. 121

Lætá|tus sum in his, quæ dicta sunt mihi: * In domum Dómini íbimus.

Stantes erant pedes nostri, * in átriis tuis, Jerúsalem.

Jerúsalem, quæ ædificátur ut cívitas: *

cujus participátio ejus in idípsum.

Illuc enim ascendérunt tribus, tribus Dómini: *

testimónium Israël ad confiténdum nómini Dómini.

Quia illic sedérunt sedes in judício, * sedes super domum David.

Rogáte quæ ad pacem sunt Jerúsalem: *

et abundántia diligéntibus te:

Fiat pax in virtúte tua: * et abundántia in túrribus tuis.

our blessed and fruitful

virginity is like the bush,

flaming yet unburned, which Moses

saw on Sinai. Pray for us, Mother

of God.

I re|joiced when they said to me, * “Let us go to the house of the LORD.”

And now our feet are standing * within your gates, O Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is built as a city * bonded as one together.

It is there that the tribes go up, * the tribes of the LORD.

For Israel’s witness it is * to praise the Name of the LORD.

There were set the thrones for judgment, *

the thrones of the house of David.

For the peace of Jerusalem pray, *

“May they prosper, those who love you.”

May peace abide in your walls, * and security be in your towers.

For the sake of my family and friends, *

let me say, “Peace upon you.”

For the sake of the house of the LORD, our God, *

I will seek good things for you.

Glory to the Father and to the Son * and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is now * and will be forever. Amen.

Ps. 126

he Virgin has given birth to the

Savior: a flower has sprung from

Jesse’s stock and a star has risen

from Jacob. O God, we praise You.

If the| LORD does not build the house, * in vain do its builders labor;

If the LORD does not guard the city, *

in vain does the guard keep watch.

In vain is your earlier rising, * your going later to rest,

You who toil for the bread you eat, *

when He pours gifts on His beloved while they slumber.

Yes, children are a gift from the LORD, *

a blessing, the Fruit of the womb.

Indeed, the sons of youth *

are like arrows in the hand of a warrior.

Blessed is the warrior *

who has filled his quiver with these arrows!

He will have no cause for shame, *

when he disputes with his foes in the gateways.

Glory to the Father and to the Son * and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is now * and will be forever. Amen.

Ps. 147

ary has given birth to our

Savior. John the Baptist saw

Him and cried out: This is the

Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins

of the world, alleluia.

O Je|rusalem, glorify the LORD! * O Sion, praise your God!

He has strengthened the bars of your gates; *

He has blessed your children within you.

He established peace on your borders; *

He gives you your fill of finest wheat.

He sends out His word to the earth, *

and swiftly runs His command.

He showers down snow like wool; * He scatters hoarfrost like ashes.

He hurls down hailstones like crumbs; *

before such cold, who can stand?

He sends forth His word and it melts them; *

at the blowing of His breath the waters flow.

He reveals His word to Jacob; * to Israel, His decrees and judgments.

He has not dealt thus with other nations; *

He has not taught them His judgments.

Glory to the Father and to the Son * and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is now * and will be forever. Amen.

and glory throughout all eternity to the Most Holy and

Undivided Trinity, the crucified humanity of our Lord
