Where do we begin? Not many
years are marked with as many
highlights as the Lord has blessed us
with this year. Between academic
and physical achievement and the
birth of our first grandson we have
a great deal to be Thankful for.
Perhaps this really should have beena Thanksgiving letter this year.
Becca and her High School
basketball teammates placed 5th in
state to start of the Winter. In the
spring, thanks in part to Coach Jim
Robinson, the TBS girls track team
placed 3rd in State, and Becca
brought home two Silver and two
Gold medals from the StateChampionships in Cheney, WA.
First place in both the 100 and 200
meter relays, and 2nd place in the
100 and 200 meter individual races.
What an experience this was.
Due to the lack of a girls soccer
team at TBS this year, Becca
became an integral part of the boys
soccer team after getting approval.
She had an incredible year which
after losing some very good Seniors
to graduation was not expected.
Becca scored 20 goals for the boys
and helped them get to the
Washington State Quarterfinals. In
the end Becca ended up as the All-
City Girls first team for Tacoma, the
All-area girls 2nd team, all league
boys first team, and last, but not
least, the all-state boys 2nd
team. And now for those who
didnt yet get their copy of the letter
due to an empty ink cartridge, we
want to share that today, December
13, Becca received a plaque and was
awarded the all-area girls soccer
player of the year. This includes
girls from all schools, from the very
largest to the smallest. She had to
talk in front of hundreds of students
and coaches. We couldnt be more
proud of her accomplishments!
It was on July 25th that Drake was
born into this world, and after some
tense days where we thought he
might be born prematurely, he has
grown to be quite a hunk at nearly
24 pounds at 4 months. Please pray
for direction in Kylees life is she
raises this new child.
Ruth and I have started taking on
some of the ailments of old age, yet
have much to be thankful for. Becca
is now in her Senior year and was
crowned Homecoming Queen at
the time she led the boys soccer
team in scoring. She has made a
verbal commitment to play soccer at
Oklahoma Christian University,
near Oklahoma City. Please pray
that the Lord gives her clear
direction as she takes on a very
challenging curriculum. All
achievements aside, we know that
Becca truly wants to honor the
Lord, and would give Him the
credit. She is not one to seek the
spotlight.
In August Ruth, Becca and I had
the fine privilege joining a team
from our church to help minister
with Tim and Barbara-Lee
Glessner in Puebla Nuevo,
Mexico. We have been on several
other missions trips, and I confess
I was least prepared for this one.
The Lord truly blessed the efforts
of a few willing participants.
Many special forces well-armed
policemen and policewomen
were shown the movie
Courageous while us English
speaking folk listened in Spanish.
This was an experience we will
never forget as many lives were
changed we were on the bus back
to Mexico City as the Mexican
national soccer team won their
historic gold medal in the
Olympic final!
We realize many our family and
friends are still struggling with
health, unemployment and
underemployment. Many good
jobs are becoming much less
good as hours are cut, or benefits
are trimmed back as Ruth can
attest to. We must continue to
keep our leaders in prayer andhelp each other through these
tough times.
There are so many more stories
we could tell about the events of
2012, but time and space do not
permit.
Kory, Kylee & Drake
May the Lord bless you and your
families this Christmas and
throughout what will likely be a
very challenging 2013.
Love,
Craig, Ruth, Kylee, Becca & Drake
