My 2017 Wrap Up The holidays are upon us once again and 2017 is coming to a close. How was your 2017? I hope it was your best year ever!

If not, now is the time to set your personal and professional goals for next year and plan the steps needed to reach those tar-gets. These should be more than just reso-lutions, but actual goals and the roadmap to get there.

For me, 2017 was a good year. The high-light of the year was our family’s vacation to Europe. It was our first time there and we thoroughly enjoyed it all. Spending the time away with my wife and three sons in those beautiful, historical locations was an experience I’ll treasure forever.

Back in May we mourned the loss of my mother-in-law, Betty. She be forever

missed. But, for my immediate family, we are all in good health and doing well.

I am happy to report that Revco is doing very well, too. We started our 50th year in November and I’m already planning the 50th anniversary party for later next year!

Thanks in no small part to you and my other amazing clients, we appear to be on track for another record year! So, as I do every year, I want to send you a sincere “thank you” for your business and support.

I am honored and blessed to have you as my clients and look forward to working with you in 2018.

Linda, my sons, Rob, Mike and Scott, Beau the Revco Dog and Bernie the Revco Grand Dog wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and a healthy and pros-perous 2018.

Client Corner During November, my long-time client Tom O’Keefe at EverSource Energy in Berlin, CT replaced his aging KVM switches by making a significant invest-ment in new Vertiv MergePoint Unity KVM-Over-IP Switches.

Tom’s older switches were ready for re-tirement and his new MPUs will provide new features and better performance. We can also offer Tom a trade-in rebate for his old switches to help offset the cost of new switches.

Thank you, Tom, for your MPU order and for the many years of being one of my important clients!

Be like Tom and replace your old KVM hardware with new MPUs or UMGs.

Gift-Giving Traditions Around the World Gift-giving is a heartfelt practice that brings people closer together. It can con-vey a wide range of messages and emo-tions. From tokens of gratitude to ex-pressing love or respect, gift-giving tradi-tions vary around the world.

In China, gift-giving is important for building, maintaining, and strengthening relationships. In Italy, gifts are expected to show thanks to a social invitation. Put-ting thought and energy behind every gift is considered more valuable than price. Making a homemade pastry or meal is considered being thoughtful because of the labor of love in making it.

In Mexico, gifts are seen as a gesture of appreciation and affection. Flowers, wine, or small sweets are given when visiting someone’s house. Piñatas make appropriate birthday gifts, and businesses usually exchange company merchandise or for a long relationship an exchange of wine or scotch is common.

The Japanese place great emphasis on presentation when gift-giving. People send a “thank you gift” in response to a “thank you gift.” And it’s customary to place a tight decorative knot on a wed-ding gift envelope because folklore dic-tates the envelope should be impossible to open. In Trinidad and Tobago, it’s customary to place money in the hand of a newborn baby to convey best wishes for the child’s prosperous upbringing.

You must also watch out for social quirks. For example, clocks should be avoided in China because the Chinese word for clock is associated with the word for death. And in some European countries such as Germany, superstition dictates that giving a knife as a gift will sever your friendship. So, if you’re giv-ing-gifts to people around the globe, you might just want to do research on local etiquette to avoid making a faux pas.
