This month we are receiving our World Missions Offering. Our goal is to give $25,000 by the end of December to World Missions. 85% of this offering goes to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. This money supports 3,600 missionaries around the world who are telling people about Jesus and starting churches. 15% of this offering goes to the world hunger and disaster relief through Baptist Global Response. Here are some of the ways this offering is used and what even a small gift can do: • $3 will provide 10 fish to stock a pond and basic training on how to
grow fish. • $3.50 will feed a hungry child for a week. • $10 will help shelter and restore women and children rescued from
human trafficking. • $25 will provide 10 chickens or 2 rabbits for a family. • $50 will provide refugees in Syria and northern Iraq with the basic
needs for survival—food, water, clothing, blankets, and hygiene kits. • $100 will stock a medical clinic with basic supplies. • $500 will build a new house for a family who has lost their home to
earthquake, hurricane, fire, or flood. • $1000 will drill a well that will provide clean water for a village or
school. Learn more at gobgr.org. Brenton Cox
Angel Tree
Angel Tree gifts must be returned no later than this Sunday, December 3.
Food Boxes Donate money toward the purchase of food boxes by marking your envelope “food boxes”. The cost of each box is $50. Food Boxes will be packed on Friday, Dec. 15 at 5:00 PM and delivery will take place Saturday, Dec. 16 at 8:00 AM. We will be delivering to about 80 families, so plenty of drivers are needed.
Offering Envelopes Offering envelopes are mailed to all church members each month. The envelopes are mailed by Lifeway envelope service to everyone on our membership list. If you are a new member, you should begin receiving envelopes within a month or so after you join our church. Please contact the church office if you do not receive envelopes but would like to be added, or if you use online giving and do not wish to receive envelopes any longer. Some people did not receive envelopes in November because of a problem with the postal service. If you did not receive your November envelopes, contact the church office, and we will be credited for all undelivered envelopes.
Thanks to the decorating team for the beautiful Christmas decorations in and around the worship center. Thank you to Rick & Rhonda Mullins, Emily Robinson, Katy Bess, Margaret Bell, Hope Barker, Emily Esslinger, Hannah Mullins, and Carissa Wood for the hard work!
There is a church wide volleyball tournament on Friday night December 8th beginning at 6:00pm. I would love for us to enter some student teams in this competition! I have two signed up and looking for more. If you are interested in forming a team or being on a team please come see me. Strength to Stand in Pigeon Forge is January 13th to the 15th of 2018! The conference includes 4 sessions and a concert. The cost is $85 for the conference, transportation, and lodging (breakfast included). Students will need money for all other meals (5) and free time activities of their choice on Sunday afternoon. The deadline to get signed up is December 3rd. There is NO permission form thru Strength to Stand but if you have not completed the FBC permission form for the 2017-2018 school year it will need to be completed and notarized asap as well. Mark your calendars for our Christmas parties. The middle school party will be Friday, December 15th at 6:00pm and the high school party will be Saturday, December 16th at 6pm. Please bring finger foods and desserts. Drinks and table ware will be provided. Admission to the party is a canned good or toiletry item to be donated to the general store at the high school. There will be games and a gift exchange. Please bring a small gift to participate in the white elephant gift exchange!
