CHRISTIAN EDUCATION MINISTRY Sunday School curriculum for children, youth, and adults; Officers’ Retreat led by Dr. Bill Harkins; Vacation Bible School for over eighty 3 rd -5 th graders; Rally Day Carnival to kick off new program year; Child Protection Policy continued and expanded; special six-week Story Explorer series during Children’s Church. DIACONATE Faith & Fellowship Weekend; Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper; Harry Barrow’s 30 th Anniversary Celebration Barbecue; one-man production of A Christmas Carol performed by Clark Taylor; hospitality to visitors; pastoral care that included Advent gift bags for homebound NPC members. FAMILY MINISTRY (formed in 2014) Hosted interfaith seminar with the Higher Ground group (Jewish, Muslim, and Christian faith leaders); offered “Family Systems” seminar led by Dr. Bill Harkins. FELLOWSHIP AND RECREATION MINISTRY On roughly half of all Wednesday evenings, Family Night Supper provided food and fellowship for an average of 60 members and visitors of all ages; organized Easter Egg Hunt; hayride and bonfire; Blessing of the Animals; collaborated with Outreach and Christian Education to host Ugandan Thunder children’s choir. LONG-RANGE PLANNING/CAPITAL FUNDS AND FINANCE/PERSONNEL MINISTRIES Called Rev. Leigh Campbell-Taylor as contract Associate Pastor through August 2016; “Firm Foundations” capital campaign in full swing to restore church building’s foundation, to add ramp entrance that makes NPC accessible to all regardless of mobility, and to create a Garden Plaza for outdoor worship. The 3-year goal is $950,000; to date, $626,428 pledged and $433,453 already fulfilled! MEMBERSHIP MINISTRY Hosted New Members/Visitors Luncheons; Coffee Room hospitality provided by the HeBrew Committee each week; Jan Bowyer named NPC Citizen of the Year; in addition to 6 baptisms, welcomed 23 new members by Transfer of Letter or Profession of Faith. OUTREACH MINISTRY Summer of Service: made 2300+ sandwiches for Open Door Homeless Shelter; collected and packaged 345 hygiene kits for Coweta Samaritan Medical Clinic; raised funds and packaged 20,000+ “Stop Hunger Now” meals for Sierra Leone; Snowflake of Faith project benefited 100 Meals on Wheels recipients at Christmas; other outreach included: Merida Mission Trip, Coweta Food Pantry, Cambridge House, Souper Bowl, One Roof Ecumenical Outreach, One Great Hour of Sharing, Thank Offerings, and many more! PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN Circles provided care packages to NPC college freshmen, pocket quilts for homebound members, crocheted caps for CTCA patients, and crocheted baby blankets for Community Welcome House; pulpit rosebuds for NPC newborns; bereavement counseling; hosted luncheon during Community Lenten Series; successful application for $5,000 2014 PATH Grant to benefit New Leaf Community Garden and Bridging the Gap; Lena Pope named Honorary Life Member; classes in cooking, potting, sewing, crocheting, etc. PROPERTY MINISTRY Completed renovations of the Adult Sunday School rooms; fully renovated the Session Room; ongoing repairs and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems as well as lighting of entire facility; cleaning the old boiler room area. SENIOR ADULT MINISTRY Outings to the Performing Arts Center included attending performances of Driving Miss Daisy and an Elvis impersonator; monthly luncheons; monthly Movie and Book Club meetings; produced Senior Sunday led by Dr. Rix Threadgill of Loyd Presbyterian Church of LaGrange. WORSHIP MINISTRY Special services – monthly Taizé worship (in conjunction with FUMC), Joy Gift Service of Lessons & Carols, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Christmas Eve; Annual Preaching Series with Central Baptist and St. Paul’s Episcopal; music program – Handbells, Cherub Choir, Voices of Praise Choir, Adult Sanctuary Choir; baptismal banners; trained liturgists; Worship Guild formed; handbells refurbished; prepared Communion; wedding coordination; decorated sanctuary for Advent and Lent. YOUTH MINISTRY Hired David Waller as Interim Youth Director; volunteered for many local mission projects including making blankets for chemotherapy patients at CTCA, delivering Thanksgiving baskets to Bridging the Gap and sponsoring a needy family at Christmas; Senior High Retreat; Youth Sunday; 6 students on Middle School mission trip to serve with Youth Works in Savannah; 17 Senior High students to denomination-wide youth conference in Montreat. On behalf of the leadership of Newnan Presbyterian Church, thank you! Your generous responses to God’s grace in your life have made all this possible. It was an honor to pull together these highlights and we are eager to see how NPC will live faithfully into 2015 and beyond!
