A covenant network of congregations in mission:

We are the Body of Christ gifted and called in covenant together as Disciples of Christ to be centers of

transformation on the new mission frontier of our own communities.

Dear Partners in Ministry,

In September of last year, I attended a meeting of Regional Ministers in

Canada. When I crossed the border, the customs officer asked me: “Where are you going? What is your purpose?” Those could be profound questions for each of us as ministers of the Gospel. “Where are we going? What is our purpose?”

We need to clarify our vision for our lives repeatedly so that we know

where we are going and why, so that we do not become discouraged by difficult moments, so that we can hope in visions of what we can become and what we can do for God. The beginning of a New Year is a good time to do that.

I continue to be excited about the vision we have in the Christian Church

in Ohio. God is calling us to be: A covenant network of congregations in mission: We are the Body of Christ gifted and called in covenant together as Disciples of Christ to be centers of transformation on the new mission frontier of our own communities. I wish to encourage as many of you as possible to be in attendance at the

Ministers Convocation Dinner on January 28, 2008, 6:30 pm at Northwest Christian Church in Columbus. This will an important time for fellowship, but we will use this opportunity to update you on the “State of the Region” and share some exciting initiatives with great impact for our future as a regional church.

I look forward with great anticipation of what God will do through us as ministers of the Gospel and leaders in Christ’s church in the days ahead. May God’s Blessings be with you, Bill

A covenant network of congregations in mission:

We are the Body of Christ gifted and called in covenant together as Disciples of Christ to be centers of transformation on the new

mission frontier of our own communities.

Dear Friend,

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and prosper for us the work of our

hands—O Prosper the work of our hands!” Psalm 90:17.

Are you looking for a way for God to prosper the work of your hands? Enclosed find the

information and an application to be a Camp Christian Ministry Associate for 2008.

We will be hiring 13 - 14 people in the following areas: one secretary, two

lifeguard/maintenance workers, four maintenance workers, and six kitchen workers.

Please indicate your job preference on the application form.

Regardless of a specific job for which you may be hired, you may be called upon to do a

variety of functions depending upon the needs of a day or week at Camp. You must be

flexible to be on staff. Each staff person has one day off per week plus a long weekend

off. No other vacation is possible. Specifics for these will be negotiated with the whole

staff.

The length of employment is eleven weeks from June 3 – Aug. 19, 2008 except for the

Secretary who will begin on May 20, 2008. The first campers arrive on Sunday, June 8,

2008. If your school schedule is in conflict with these dates, you may be able to

negotiate your starting or leaving date with me. Please indicate any need to do so on your

application. You must do so, however, before the summer starts, and only a limited

number of employees can either start late or leave early. The pay is based upon an

eleven-week schedule and you will be paid less if you cannot work all eleven weeks. Our

general guidelines for employment suggest that all applicants be full time college level

students as well as involved in a Disciples of Christ local congregation. Please have your

references write or email me. Applications and references are due in our office by

March 1, 2008. An interview (in person or by video cam) will probably be required after

the applications are received. Decisions will be made shortly thereafter by me after

consultation with Al Channell, Superintendent and Doris Woodson, Director of Food

Services. Ministry Associate salaries will be $2,500 except for the Secretary who

because she/he begins a few weeks sooner will have a salary of $3,000. Ministry

Associates have their own private room in the Herald B. Monroe Lodge.

I am happy that you are considering being a Ministry Associate for 2008. It is truly a

place where people encounter Jesus Christ in a real and significant manner. You can be

part of that wonderful ministry in 2008.

If you have any questions, please call, write, or e-mail me. My e-mail address is

[email protected]

Sincerely,
