PASSION PLAY SAVE THE DATE– Monday, March 21st at 7:00 p.m. Our 8th Graders will be performing “The Passion Play” in Church. We encourage all our parishioners to attend this very moving performance. Refreshments will be served in the parish hall following the production. REMINDER-INCLEMENT WEATHER– Our religious education classes follow the public school calendar. If school is cancelled due to inclement weather, our religious education classes are cancelled for that day; however, regular half days do not affect our schedule. We still have classes for that day. Check our website at www.christthekingtrumbull.org for updates on weather and closings.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS Every Friday starting on February 12 at 7:30 p.m.

FAITH AND YOUR FAMILY: Forgiveness -The family is our first and most important school in the virtues of love and forgiveness. Parents will have to ask forgiveness of their children many times before children begin to take responsibility for their failures and learn to ask forgiveness. When forgiveness happens routinely in a family, children readily understand and are able to accept forgiveness of sin from God and the community. They will not see the sacrament of reconciliation as something negative or scary -- they will already have experienced many times the joy and healing that comes with admitting fault and being forgiven. On a daily basis the words “I’m sorry” and “I forgive you” said sincerely are enough to heal wounds in family relationships; accompanied by a smile or a hug, these simple words work wonders.

CENTERS OF MERCY-In order to foster a more fruitful invest-ment in the Jubilee Year of Mercy, The Centers of Mercy will be open, and a priest will be available to offer The sacrament of Reconciliation, each Tuesday or Thursday evening, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. beginning in Lent, and extending throughout the Year of Mercy. On Tuesday evening, St Catherine of Sienna, Trumbull will offer Confession, and on Thursday evening, St. Theresa, Trumbull will offer the Sacrament. Please visit our website at www.christthekingtrumbull.org for a full listing of all the Centers of Mercy in our Diocese.

SAVE THE DATE

Our Annual Merton Center Luncheon will be on Thursday March 3, 2016

Look for sign up sheets in the Church pews starting this weekend.

CONVIVIO 2016– “Have you ever felt the gaze of everlasting love upon you? Do you realize how precious you are to God, who has given you everything out of love?” Have you ever experienced this joy and want to extend it to others? Jesus is waiting for you! Please join fellow students at Convivio, a high school congress where students come together to reflect upon contemporary society. Throughout the weekend there are group discussions, talks, videos, games, and more. There is also the opportunity to partake in Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This event is open to all high school students from grades 9-12 and will be held at Sacred Heart University on March 4, 5 and 6. Please visit www.convivio-us.org. It doesn’t matter where you are in your faith; you are part of something greater.

Your weekly donation will mean so much to those who are in need, Thank you! DEFENDING OUR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY-The Catholic Church invests in the common good. It runs and operates schools, hospitals, universities, charities and social services. Our government and society have long relied on them for help and taken advantage of the vast network that churches and religious institutions provide to aid people in need and to help form good citizens. But, when we are told we’ve got to stop being who we are, to put aside our beliefs, or plainly go against our conscience in order to be allowed to contribute to the common good, we must speak out. If you haven’t done so already, please voice your opposition to the federal health care mandate by calling U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Mathews Burwell at 202-205-5445, and your elected representatives. Let them know that the mandate is in violation of our First Amendment right to religious freedom.
