October is going to be a busy month at Christ the King. We kickthings off with our annual Stewardship Weekend. This is a timein the life of the parish when we remember that the gifts wehave are meant to be shared for the good of the community.When we make “giving” a priority, the parish flourishes. I amgrateful to all of our parishioners who continue to givegenerously of their time, talent, and treasure. Thank you forbeing good stewards of the blessings God has given you.

The Catholic Church celebrates October as Respect Life Month.This year’s theme give by the United States Conference ofCatholic Bishops is “Each of Us is a Masterpiece of God’sCreation.” For four weeks we contemplate the beauty of eachhuman being made in the image and likeness of God. Wewould be horrified if, for example, Leonardo di Vinci’s Mona Lisawere to be destroyed. Yet, each person is worth so much morethan that masterpiece. We have a responsibility to do our partto protect human life, from womb to tomb. God created hismasterpieces not to be destroyed, but rather to be cherished.

It is the custom at Christ the King to have a Baby Bottle Driveduring the month of October. The Knights of Columbus will behanding out baby bottles at the end of Mass this weekend. Fillthe bottles up with loose change (or checks!) and return themthe last weekend of October. The funds will be used to supportthe work of Pregnancy Decision Health Center in Columbus.This is a small way in which we can build up a pro-life culture inour city.

Octubre va a ser un mes muy ocupado en Christ the King. Iniciamos unaserie de actividades con nuestro Fin de Semana de Promoción Anual. Estees un momento en la vida de la parroquia en el que recordamos que losdones que tenemos son para compartirlos para el bien de la comunidad.Cuando hacemos del “dar” una prioridad, la parroquia florece. Estoy muyagradecido con todos los feligreses que continúan dando generosamente sutiempo, talento, y tesoro. Gracias por seguir siendo buenos administradoresde las bendiciones que Dios les ha regalado.

La Iglesia Católica celebra el mes de octubre como el Mes del Respeto por laVida. El tema de este año que ha dado la Conferencia de Obispos Católicosde los E.U. es “Cada uno de Nosotros es una Obra Maestra de la Creaciónde Dios”. Durante cuatro semanas contemplamos la belleza de cada serhumano hecho a imagen y semejanza de Dios. Nos horrorizaríamos si, porejemplo, La Mona Lisa de Leonardo di Vinci fuera a ser destruida. De hecho,cada persona vale mucho más que esa obra maestra. Tenemos laresponsabilidad de hacer lo que nos corresponde para proteger la vidahumana, desde su concepción hasta su muerte natural. Dios creó sus obrasmaestras no para que sean destruidas, sino para que sean valoradas.

Es una costumbre en Christ the King el hacer una Donación en Biberones(Baby Bottle Drive) durante el mes de octubre. Los Caballeros de Colónestarán repartiendo biberones al final de cada misa este fin de semana. Llenelos biberones con monedas (¡o cheques!) y regréselos el último fin desemana de octubre. Los fondos serán usados para apoyar el trabajo dePregnancy Decision Health Center en Columbus. Esta es una pequeña formaen la que podemos construir una cultura pro-vida en nuestra ciudad.

All Saints Academy Catholic School

We will have our Annual Lunch on the Lawn this Friday,October 10, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will have a DJ,picnic style lunch, and other events. The day will end with aschool-wide rosary.
