I dreamed... I dreamed I stood in a studio and watched two sculptors there.

The clay used was a young child’s mind and they fashioned it with care. One was a teacher, the tools used were books, music and art.

The other was a parent with a guiding hand and a gentle and loving heart. Day after day, the teacher toiled with touches deft and sure, While the parent

For the things they had molded into the child could never be sold or bought. And each agreed they would have failed if each had worked alone.

SCHOOL WEBSITE and NEWSWIRE

Make sure you’re signed up to receive our electronic mailings!!!

Our school website is up and running. Log on to the board website at www.wcdsb.ca and go to ‘our schools’ and

then ‘list of schools.’ Click on Christ the King. You may also type in http:/christtheking.wcdsb.ca in your web

browser. We will continue to send our monthly newsletter and other important information electronically, In

order to receive school information electronically, families must subscribe to the NewsWire service by visiting

our school web site and join our mailing list by entering your e-mail address and clicking on subscribe. By

following these few simple steps, you will be set up to receive school newsletters electronically. If you do not

have access to a computer, please just call the office and a hard copy of what is sent out will be send home to

you. Please also follow us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/ctkbobcats.

Medication at School

If you will require your child to receive ANY form of medication, either over the counter (Tylenol, cough

medicine), or prescription, the school is required to have on file, your signed consent. Please contact the

office, our board website or your child’s teacher if you require an

“Administration of Oral Medication” Form for your child (ren). We are not able to accept a verbal request to

administer any form of medication.

Peanut Free School Environment

We have several students and staff attending Christ the King School with a severe allergy that

can cause an anaphylactic reaction. All of us need to do what we can to provide these members

of our community with a safe learning and working environment. Although this may or may not

affect your child’s class directly, we respectfully ask that you do not send food products that contain peanuts,

peanut butter or nut products, remembering to check ingredients carefully. WOW butter and other peanut

substitutes are also not permitted. Please do not bring dogs into the school as we also have some students who

are highly allergic to pet dander. Your understanding and cooperation are most appreciated.

SCHOOL AGENDAS

These agendas are an excellent means of communication between the home and school. They help

students build lifelong organizational skills by allowing them to keep track of homework assignments, tests

and upcoming school events. Please note the expectations for their use on the front pages of the agenda

as well as policies and procedures to ensure a safe and successful school year. Students and parents are

asked to review the agenda and sign the first page. The cost of each agenda is $5.00

ATTENDANCE/LATE CHECK PROGRAM

It is very important that if your child is ill, has a medical appointment or will be late for any reason, that you contact the school with the necessary information: full name and grade and reason your child(ren) will be away.

PLEASE PHONE THE OFFICE prior to 8:30 am on the day of the absence.

Our school answering machine is in service 24 hours a day. Please note that we must receive a call from a parent or caregiver. If your child(ren) does not arrive at school and you have not contacted us, we will attempt to contact you at home or at your place of work. Please keep us updated on current and active phone numbers.

VISITORS IN THE SCHOOL

Parents/Guardians are asked to help make our school a safe one by remembering our safe school dismissal guidelines. The Board policy is that all visitors to a school must sign in at the main office. This policy is designed to protect children from coming into contact with a stranger. If you are coming to school during the day to meet your child(ren), please go directly to the office to sign in. Your understanding is much appreciated.

Some things to remember:

~ Please remember to make any arrangements for after school plans prior to the school day starting so your child

does not have to contact you during the day or vice versa. This is very important as we are a very big school and the

more changes we have to relay to different students, the greater chance for communication breakdown.

~ Please use the agenda for any written communication to your child’s teacher

~ When requesting homework for an absent child, please do so at the beginning of the school day so the teacher has

time to prepare a package if there is one.

~ When a child must leave for an appointment, it is our policy to call the child out of class ONLY once the parent has

arrived to sign them out. We have had many instances where a parent has called to say they are on their way and

would like the child at the office only to have the child waiting for some time.

~When picking up your child after school, please wait at the front of the school; outside your child’s designated exit

door or at your pre-arranged meeting spot. Parents should not be going into the hallways or to their child’s

classroom.

~ When wanting to talk or meet with your child’s teacher, please either send a note in your child’s agenda requesting this

or call to make an appointment with them.

~ All visitors to the school must first report to the main office to sign in and get a visitors badge.

~ Please be respectful of the parking lot signs and rules. These are implemented for the safety of your child.

~ Thank you for your cooperation and have a wonderful school year!

The principal may request, at any time in the process, that you put your concerns in writing. The principal may involve, at any time in the process, others who may be helpful in resolving the concern;

supports from the school board, employee group representatives, the local parish, and community agencies. 1. The role of Trustee: You may contact the trustee at any time. The trustee will direct you to follow the process outlined

above.
