Jesus connues to speak to the chief priests and
elders in another parable. This me the parable centers on
whom God invites to the banquet of the Kingdom
of heaven. The King sends his servants into the streets to invite
people to the feast, since those who were invited did not come,
showing their own unworthiness. The servants bring back a
variety of people, but the king notes how some are not
wearing the proper a re for a wedding banquet.
They are invited, but not chosen for they have not turned
to the Lord and put on the wedding garment.

BECOMING A CATHOLIC We believe that the Catholic faith leads us to justice and service in the image and likeness of God. It gives us the foundation for taking Christ’s presence into the world to care for the poor and respect for life. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Catholic, contact the
Parish Office (724-763-9141) for more information.
Mission is at the Heart of the Christian FaithMission is at the Heart of the Christian FaithMission is at the Heart of the Christian FaithMission is at the Heart of the Christian Faith NEXT SUNDAY, October 22nd, the second collection will be the World
Mission Sunday collection. Pope Francis reminds us in his “Message for
World Mission Sunday 2017” that “[t]he Church is
missionary by nature; otherwise, she would no longer
be the Church of Christ, but one group among many
others that soon end up serving their purpose and
passing away.” The Pope continues to reflect about our
Christian identity, and insists that part of our
responsibility as Christians is to “carry out our mission” in a world
“marked by confusion, disappointment, and frustration.” The Holy Father
sees the celebration of World Mission Sunday as “a good opportunity for
enabling the missionary heart of the Christian communities to join in
prayer, testimony of life and communion of goods, in responding to the
vast and pressing needs of evangelization.”
A MASS WITH THE
ANOINTING OF THE SICK
will be celebrated tomorrow, Monday, October 16th @ 6:00 PM
at Christ, Prince of Peace Church.

MANY THANKS BISHOP MALESIC
On behalf of Christ, Prince of Peace and St. Lawrence Parishes, we thank Bishop Edward Malesic for his recent visits to our
partner parishes that included Fr. Ricky’s installation Masses and
the 100th Anniversary Mass of St. Lawrence Church ground
breaking. We were blessed by his presence.
This year the parishes, faith formation classes, and youth ministry are again participating in Operation Christmas Child. Over the last 4 years, through your generosity, over 600 gift-filled shoeboxes
have been collected! Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief organization that provides spiritual and physical aid to people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through Jesus Christ. This ministry brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes and the Good News of God's love in their own language. Operation Christmas Child began in 1993, with 28,000 shoeboxes collected. Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts – and this is one more opportunity for us to help grow the Kingdom of God where the Gospel has never been heard! If you wish to participate, shoeboxes and labels will be available in the churches beginning the weekend of October 22nd. Please return your shoeboxes to the church vestibules, especially during the weekends of November 5th and 12th. We have to deliver the shoeboxes by Sunday, November 19th. Please include $9 with your shoebox for shipping costs. If you have any questions please contact Jen or Shaun Sperl at 724-859-3196 /724-859-3197.
