Philosopy:CFHC activities are framed on the belief that an organization like ours should do more than just provide temporary material relief to the suffering. CFHC support is designed to give people the means to provide for their own welfare for the rest of their lives. This makes them not to remain dependent on the hands-outs of a charity. ‘Instead of giving fish to the starving, teach them how to catch fish’.

With a higher calling to meet the needs of the least, CFHC has been actively demonstrating that there is a God who cares, loves and Who is bigger than all the hatred and abuse in the world. We feel privileged to be the hands and feet of the living God, Who came to bring light to the dark places!

Our Vision

To develop a society, where everyone stands on their own legs and “Catches a Fish a Day” - a faith to help them find permanent relief.

Our Mission

To support and empower parentless children, deserted women and people below the poverty-line through institutions including orphanages, schools and vocational training units.

Formation of Orphanage

As a humble beginning the home was inaugurated on 2nd Feb. 1986 in a rented building with 5 children in Virugmabakkam. Later hearing our Prayers Lord provided us a wonderful place in Manapakkam, from where we sprouted out. Many programmes have been developed over the years - adoption, sponsorship, foster care, childcare unit, counselling, community organisation, self help groups, awareness programmes, medical camps, old aged pension, leprosy service, etc. It has been a long journey. Sometimes we have walked in sunshine and sometimes in shadow!

On behalf of Christ Faith Home I am pleased to present the 30th Annual Report of the year 2015-2016. CFHC has experienced significant growth and organisational change since its inception 1986. I thank my Lord Almighty for bestowing His blessings and guidance in this long and tough journey!. “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him”. The year 2015-2016, was truly a blessing as we were enabled to impact the lives of many vulnerable children and women. During the year, we have been implementing programs in full swing

It is so inspiring to see that, in the past 30 years we have been able to impact the lives of thousands of children and women. Especially, by saving the lives of 600 abandoned infant and placed them in forever loving and caring families both in and out of India. Looking at our credibility, I feel so blessed to have chosen this path of serving the needy, vulnerable children and women in our society. We have been able to render our services not just by providing homes, but enabling them to build their lives! It’s heart-warming to see many of our children growing as a family and scaling up in their career! Perhaps, we now have a big CFHC family with 15 grandchildren! Furthermore, we were able to impart awareness on various social issues especially, on child abuse and hosted campaign that had reached out a number of students across different schools in the city of Chennai.

We are greatly delighted to have a team that works passionately in sustaining the vision of CFHC. We as a team tirelessly work not just to meet the needs of the society which is in desperate need, but also extending our humanitarian work by reaching out the most neglected ones- the Leprosy patients with whom are acquainted for the past 15 years, thereby got a chance to share our love!

Letter from Founder / President Dr. Maida Raja

CFHC has always stretched out its hands during the natural calamities and During Nov-Dec’15, when the city of Chennai was in a deep trauma as a repercussion of the floods, it’s the pure grace of Christ that had sheltered the inmates of our home. Nevertheless, God also enabled us to stretch our helping hands by sheltering over 200 people who were affected due to the massive floods in our home. These extended inmates were catered with basic needs and food. A special thanks to every one of our generous donors who had joined with us through their prayers and magnanimous financial support that had helped us to leap a step ahead by distributing relief packages to over one thousand people who were victim of this torrential rain disaster.

I take this as an opportunity to thank each one of you who had confidence in our work and rendered an unhindered support. Needless to say, none of this would have been possible without the support of our stake holders – sponsors, donors, officials from the government departments, corporate CSR partners and volunteers, who have contributed in a significant manner. I also would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the co-workers of CFHC who toils hard to rehabilitate the life of the most vulnerable women and children and thereby we are sustained in our mission. Finally, I would like to thank the true ‘heroes’ of our organisation –our staff and external stake holders, who had played a vital role in prioritizing our mission venues and to strategically plan to expand mission for the next 5 years. Every journey has its own challenges and we are determined to press on in delivering our promises with passion. We are privileged to be the hands and feet of our dear Almighty God and reflect His image of Love.

Children are an endowment of God. They are born to live and not to strive. CFHC has established an orphanage with a unique focus on abandoned children. We are obliged to take care of these little ones with parental love and care.

The little flowers is a home for the parentless and neglected girls aged 6 to 18 years. The children of our home are bestowed with, all the provisions with extreme care and attention.

Furthermore, eminent education is given to these kids thereby they stand at par with other kids in the society!

We provide counselling to the children both physically and mentally. The children live in an atmosphere of morning Prayer, play at the evening, timely food, clothing and special attention on their studies.

The children have moved to their new dormitory and love their ambience. During the year we had new admissions and we have sheltered 30 girls.

The girls are given many motivational lectures and special counselling in their adolescent age. Special attention and extra care are given to the girls in order to keep them away from the evil schemes of the society and secure them in order to live a peaceful and happy life.

The children are taught special computer course every Friday by volunteers from Barclays. With the help of our volunteers, the children are assisted everyday in doing their homework which is executed as a part of their tuitions.

The students are not just given education, but are encouraged to involve in extracurricular activities and participated in various competitions and sports events at school and other inter orphanages competitions.

Sanctuary defines a place of Shelter and safety. Here, this is a Sanctuary for the destitute women and the women who come for Social, economical and counseling support. This Sanctuary provides them a temporary shelter and equips them to face the world with boldness and survey themselves individually.

We have created a committee called Home committee which includes a Doctor, an Advocate, a Police officer and a social welfare board member to do our service effectively for the women in our Sanctuary. The committee convenes once in every 3 months and review newly admitted women in the short stay Home and come up with a solution to their problems.

During this year we had 58 women and 17 children who were admitted in the Home along with their children, out of which 28 women and 8 Children were rehabilitated and reconciled with their families.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19

The LORD’S loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail.

Even though the year 2015 ended with catastrophe, the New Year 2016 has begun with new blessings and mercies. We were alive and are Thanking God for his protection during the worse calamity hit and here by we give you an overview of the relief work carried over by CFHC .

Being struck in the midst of the heavy downpour CFHC extended its helping hands from day 1 of the massive rain destruction. On the Nov 16th the local police brought the 28 affected people from MGR nagar to our campus for shelter. CFHC sheltered and fed them.

As an immediate relief 225 bags of 5 kg Rice and 12 big box of used clothes were packed and sent to affected people in the Saidapet area.

After wrecking havoc on the residents of the capital city of Tamil Nadu for almost a month in November, On December 1–2, 2015, Chennai received a record breaking rainfall in 24 hours than it had seen on any day since 1901. The deluge followed a month

of persistent monsoon rains that were already well above the average for our state. Our Manapakkam was one of the most affected areas. In the midst of total darkness that night we had the opportunity to shelter around 200 people from the neighbourhood ( Marvel river view apartments, Indira nagar, Girigori nagar, MGR nagar and L&T colony ). We were able to share our facility and serve them food for a week. Apart from sheltering we were also able feed around 100 people who were accommodated at the nearby ECI Church from Dec 2nd to 5th Dec. As there was a total shut down of power in the whole city, CFHC was able to use the generator for couple of hours to get water for the children and also distributed 2500 litres of water to the people in our neighbourhood. We provided 100 packets of milk to the children in our area.

Later we were able to reach out to our staff members who were badly affected and provided relief materials like bed sheets, mattress, groceries, rice and water. On 9th and 10th Dec we provided food packets and water to around 50 people in Amedkar nagar who were in the midst of stagnant flood.

Mean while Team CFHC didn’t just went out in helping the affected people by providing relief materials but also involved in cleaning their houses which was a huge mess and saved the good expensive households articles thrown out by

Flood Relief Work

22

wealthy people on streets, collected and recycled it, dried out, washed the clothes and gave out to people in need who could take it happily and use it

As the level of the water was tumbling team CFHC went out in surveying the families who needed the relief materials and the list was prepared and distributed 100 token. On 13th Dec 100 families were provided with relief materials (Sarees, Lungis, Rice, noodles, water , broom, snacks, toiletries) .

The Season of Love - God’s greatest gift was sent to this world as JESUS. CFHC cancelled out all its celebration instead wanted to be the hands and feet of Christ by showing his Love. In spite we ourselves being affecting we did not stop loving, giving and sharing for it is the true meaning of Christmas. On 23rd Dec we shared God’s Love and gave His provisions to people affected in flood. The rest of the 250 surveyed families where provided with relief materials on in the presence of Inspector of Police, Nandambakkam, Mr.Pandian (Ward Counsellor). The relief package included Mats, bed sheets, bucket, mug, 5 kg rice, toiletries, grocery, snacks and stationeries.

The Season of Love was celebrated with our dear friends at Leper Colony on 26th Dec 2015. We shared God’s love and his provisions. We also distributed flood relief materials for 280 people

(biscuits, noodles , used clothes, torch lights, snacks ,sanitary pads, nightwear ) and also their Christmas gifts of new Sarees , dresses for children Lungis for men. Our CFHC team entertained them and as well shared the word of God. They absolutely enjoyed singing, dancing and praising God with us. We are able to see the real joy in their faces and thanking God for this opportunity.

We would fail if we fail to remember your good deed. Words are not enough to thank you for being with us during the most critical hour of need by your prayers and support. At this time we also thank each and every one of you who had been a great support in providing financial support enabling us serve not just our children and inmates but also reaching out the victims affected by this torrential rain and the Flood. A BIG THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for making it possible for us!! In turn we send you our heartfelt prayers and blessing to you and your family. We pray this blessing over you “May the Lord crown the year with His bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance.” As we enter this New year we will continue to walk in faith and praying to be the faithful servants of God. We also encourage you to be faithful in what He has called for; for No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly (Pslams 84:11).

Services to Old aged

This year we were able to support 70 old aged mothers with monthly pension and provide them with basic toiletries every month. Monthly once we get together with the old mothers and conduct various events for them and in order to make them feel that there is someone who really love them and care for them. Due to the massive floods in December the place where we run the day care centre was wrecked and hence we were not able to continue the day care centre for the old aged since December 2015. Our desire is to build a permanent home for suffering old mothers who are uncared by their children within the next couple of years and we believe that we will surely achieve our vision.
