Opening Hymn [401]

Come, let us join our cheerful songs with angels round the throne; ten thousand thousand are their tongues, but all their joys are one.

‘Worthy the Lamb that died’, they cry, ‘to be exalted thus’; ‘Worthy the Lamb,’ our lips reply, ‘for he was slain for us’.

Jesus is worthy to receive honour and power divine; and blessings more than we can give be, Lord, forever thine.

Let all that dwell above the sky, and air and earth and seas, conspire to lift thy glories high, and speak thine endless praise.

The whole creation joins in one, to bless the sacred name of him that sits upon the throne, and to adore the Lamb.

Worship Songs

There is a Redeemer, Jesus, God’s own Son, precious Lamb of God, Messiah, Holy One. Thank you, O my Father, for giving us your Son, and leaving your Spirit till the work on earth is done. Jesus, my Redeemer, Name above all names, precious Lamb of God, Messiah, O for sinners slain. Refrain When I stand in glory, I will see his face. And there I’ll serve my King for ever, in that Holy Place. Thank you, O my Father, for giving us your Son, and leaving your Spirit till the work on earth is done.

Song 2

You laid aside your majesty, gave up everything for me, suffered at the hands of those you had created. You took all my guilt and shame, when you died and rose again; now today you reign, in heav’n and earth exalted. I really want to worship you, my Lord, you have won my heart and I am yours for ever and ever; I will love you. You are the only one who died for me, gave your life to set me free, so I lift my voice to you in adoration.

Offertory Hymn [604]

Through all the changing scenes of life, in trouble and in joy, the praises of my God shall still my heart and tongue employ.

Page 6: CHRIST CHURCH WORTHING1627) by Girolamo Frescobaldi 1583-1643, Rome . SERVICES IN JANUARY 23rd 10.30am BCP Holy Communion with The Revd David Renshaw 26th 10.30am Morning Prayer with

O magnify the Lord with me, with me exalt his name; when in distress, to him I called he to my rescue came. The hosts of God encamp around the dwellings of the just; deliverance he affords to all who on his succour trust. O make but trial of his love, experience will decide how blest are they, and only they, who in his truth confide! Fear him, you saints, and you will then have nothing else to fear; make you his service your delight, your wants shall be his care. To Father, Son and Holy Ghost the God whom we adore be glory as it was is now, and shall be evermore.

Final Hymn [627]

Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim, and publish abroad his wonderful name; the name all-victorious of Jesus extol: his kingdom is glorious and rules over all. God ruleth on high, almighty to save; and still he is nigh; his presence we have. the great congregation his triumph shall sing, ascribing salvation to Jesus our King. Salvation to God who sits on the throne! Let all cry aloud, and honour the Son. The praises of Jesus the angels proclaim, fall down on their faces and worship the Lamb. Then let us adore, and give him his right: all glory and power, all wisdom and might, all honour and blessing, with angels above, and thanks never ceasing and infinite love.

Roy W has taught adults to paint in watercolour for over 50 years and is starting a group for the Christ Church family.

This will start on Monday 27 January at 2.00 pm. After the first meeting the course will be held in Christ Church. Initially, it will be fortnightly for six sessions, dealing with the

basic techniques, paints, paper types, and general equipment needed. Traditional drawing ability techniques will only be dealt with if and when they are required. Individual expression and the beauty of what happens on the paper will be the first things to discover. Those who have experience of watercolour painting will be a great help generally. The cost of the necessary materials would be around £45. If you are interested, please do talk with Roy or Janine for more details

Coffee Ministry!

Christ Church is open all

through the week for

everyone to pop in for a

chat and a coffee. We

would really appreciate some more help with this.

You wouldn’t necessarily have to make coffee or

tea, but in most cases, just sitting and chatting in

the morning or afternoon would be so helpful. Of

course, if you are able to make the odd hot drink,

that would be great also!!

We are open every Tuesday and Wednesday

morning from 10.30am to 12 noon, from 2.30 to

4pm on a Thursday afternoon and from 10.30am to

12 noon every 2nd and 4th Saturday.

Please let Ken or Di know if you can come along

The Peace is, for many, an important

part of our worship during the Holy Communion service. Others may wish to take the time to reflect, rather than meet and greet the other people in the church; there is no

right or wrong, it is entirely a matter of choice, which has been, and always will be respected. Thank the Lord, our numbers are growing, but this can mean that the peace now feels like a bit of a marathon, however enjoyable. We need to make sure we address this by taking into account your views.

----------------------------------------------------------------------- Please would you complete the following, so we can try and see if we can improve things, [if needs be]. Please circle one preference, or make your own suggestion and then hand your slip to Janine or Ann P:

a] Leave things as they are Yes No

b] You are invited to say hello to those around you at the start of the service, and then shake hands with those nearest to you at the peace Yes No

c] Other suggestion – maybe something that works in a church you have attended? …………………………………………………..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
