Today’s service is based around the “Iona” service, based in the Celtic tradition. We will be sharing bread and wine together today, too! Welcome! We are silent for a while, remembering that God is with us……… Call to Worship: Gather us in, the lost and the lonely, the broken and breaking, the tired and the aching who long for the nourishment found at your feast. ALL: Gather us in. the done and the doubting, the wishing and wondering, the puzzled and pondering who long for the company found at your feast. ALL: Gather us in. the proud and pretentious, the sure and superior, the never inferior, who long for the levelling found at your feast. ALL: Gather us in.

the bright and the bustling, the stirrers, the shakers, the kind laughter makers who long for the deeper joys found at your feast. ALL: Gather us in. from corner or limelight, from mansion or campsite, from fears and obsession, from tears and depression, from untold excesses, from treasured successes, to meet, to eat, be given a seat, be joined to the vine, be offered new wine, become like the least, be found at the feast. ALL: Gather us in! Song Lord Jesus Christ, you have come to us, you are one with us, Mary’s Son; cleansing our souls from all their sin, pouring your love and goodness in Jesus, our love for you we sing, living Lord. Lord Jesus Christ, now and every day, teach us how to pray, Son of God. you have commanded us to do this in remembrance, Lord, of you. Into our lives your power breaks through, living Lord.

Lord Jesus Christ, you have come to us, born as one of us, Mary’s Son. Led out to die on Calvary, risen from death to set us free, living Lord Jesus help us see, you are Lord. Lord Jesus Christ, I would come to you, live my life for you, Son of God. All your commands I know are true, your many gifts will make me new, into my life your power breaks through, living Lord. We think about the things we have done wrong….. We say sorry: For the times we have been hurtful to others All Lord, we are sorry For the times we have not done what we should All Lord, we are sorry For the times we have done what we shouldn’t All Lord, we are sorry Reading John 15.12-15 Jesus said to his disciples: 12

‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13

No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

14You are my friends if you do what I command you.

15I do not call you servants any longer,

because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father. This is the Word of the Lord All Thanks be to God Talk Song (Money will be collected for the church’s work) Bind us together, Lord, Bind us together with cords That cannot be broken. Bind us together, Lord, Bind us together, Lord, Bind us together in love. There is only one God, there is only one King. There is only one Body, that is why we sing: We are the fam'ly of God, we are his promise divine, We are his chosen desire, we are the glorious new wine. Prayers

Song (during which the “bread and wine” is prepared at the High Altar) (Sung twice) God's love is like a circle, a circle big and round. And when you see a circle no ending can be found. That's how it is with God's love, goes on eternally, Forever and forever more I know that God loves me. So now we do as Jesus did. We take this bread and wine, the produce of the earth and fruit of human labour. In this bread and wine, Jesus has promised to be present; through this bread and wine, Christ can make us whole. Merciful God, send now, in kindness, your Holy Spirit to settle on this bread and wine and fill them with the fullness of Jesus.

And let that same Spirit rest on us, converting us from the patterns of this passing world, until we conform to the shape of him whose food we now share. ALL: Amen. All come forward for the blessed bread and wine [During which, music will play] The Lord’s Prayer All Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Celebrations and Birthdays Notices Shaker Song! You shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace, and the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you. There'll be shouts of joy and the trees of the field shall clap, shall clap their hands. And the trees of the field shall clap their hands, and the trees of the field shall clap their hands, and the trees of the field shall clap their hands, and you'll go out with joy. Closing Responses: Christ's food in our souls, ALL: Our food shared like his. Christ's life in our hands, ALL: Our lives shaped by his. Christ's love in our hearts, ALL: Our love warmed through his. Christ's peace on our path, ALL: Our path following his.

Your name(s), and the dedication (s) will appear in the service booklet for that week. SEE LIST....

In five years time, what would I like to see at Christ Church? Here are the answers given to that question by members of the PCC. Now it’s your turn! On the “tear off” slip at the end, you are asked to put the PCC’s list in order of YOUR priorities, and add anything that you think the PCC has missed....

Please note, this is a random list! The order does not indicate ANY priorities from the PCC!

1) A range of exciting services to appeal to different age groups. 2) An even more thriving Church Hall/ Centre. 3) Growing congregation of different ages 4) Having done the necessary repairs to the outside of the church, to improve the inside too. 5) Open the church as much as possible, and any time it is open, have a little board outside to

say come on in – the Church is open. 6) Coffee shop drop in. 7) Develop a multi faith aspect – something representative of other faiths. 8) An annual event – to welcome the community in 9) Bible Study 10) Children’s choir 11) Have the church open as a young person’s venue more regularly. 12) Change patterns of worship to reflect family attendance.
