Focus

These two images were part of an exercise is proper focusing. I manually changed the shutter speeds and aperture stops to manage several shots with a wide depth of field.

Creativity

These pictures were all taken in Bannack, Montana. They required me to get pretty inventive to capture something new and fun. I used different ideas, such as layering and masking, to splice images together and create a single seamless image that explains a certain concept to the viewer.

Perspective of Twelve

These images are all of a single subject: a grand piano. I used a variety of focus, perspective, shutter speeds, and aperture stops to capture different mechanisms within the piano in order to create a collage that shows the diverse nature of the instrument.

Motion Themed Images

Motion plays a very important role in photography. By playing with shutter speed, I was able to freeze motion or blur motion to create unique images.

Typography is sometimes an overlooked element of photodesign, but proper typography can make or break the theme or attitude of a photo. Here, I used contrtasting fonts and font sizes to create emphasis and tone as necessary.

Macro

Capturing texture and detail can be difficult in certain settings. Macro photography allows for incredible detail when your camera is manually adjusted. Macro images allow us to view the world through a microscope, making for some extremely interesting images.

The above is a macro image of a basil plant, taken with a shallow depth of focus, achieved by increasing my f-stop. I used post-edits to really bring out the rich greens in the leaves.

Portraits

Portraiture can take many forms. It is important to ask yourself what kind of mood you wish to elicit from the viewer before you begin, so you know how to direct your subject. Understanding how to properly pose and angle your subject allow for maximum idea exploration.

Fine Art

For my fine art photos, I worked diligently to be mindful of new and interesting angles, and played a lot with varying distances. These were all taken at Bannack, and each showcases my knowledge of photography, as well as my skills in post-production.
