DavidYoutzDavid Youtz became the executive director of the Yale-China Association in June 2015,continuingacareerofmorethan25yearsinAmericanandAsiannot-for-profitorganizations.David previously served as senior consultant at the National Committee on U.S.-ChinaRelations(ofwhichheisalsoamember),whereheledstrategicplanningandthelaunchofanewU.S.-Chinaenergyinitiative.From2007to2011,hewastheCEOoftheHongKong-basedNGO,Mother’sChoice,andfortheprevioussixyears,DavidheadedMorganStanley’sAsiaDeskatitsNewYorkheadquarters.Hehasheldleadershipandprogrammingpositionsat The Asia Society, the New York-based think tank EastWest Institute, and WorldMonumentsFund,andwaspresidentforsevenyearsofthenationwideadoptionadvocacyorganization,FamilieswithChildrenfromChinaofGreaterNewYork.Earlierinhiscareer

Currently, she is leading a large project developing novel approaches ofmonitoring and controlling major cancer risk factors in China. The Chinese Economists Society (CES) is a non-profit professionalorganizationregisteredintheUnitedStates.TheaimoftheSocietyistopromotescholarlyexchangesamongitsmembersandcontributetotheadvancement and dissemination of economics and managementsciences in China. More than 2000 individuals joined the CES fromacademia,researchinstitutes,andotherpublicorprivateorganizationsthroughoutNorthAmerica,Asia,Europe,andotherpartsoftheworld.CESmembershavetakenleadershippositioningovernmentagencies,

universities, research institutes,multinational firms, and international institutions includingthePeople’sBankofChina, theWorldBank,andIMF.TheSociety is themost influentialgroupthatbridgesacademicexchangesineconomicsandmanagementsciencesbetweentheNorthAmericaandChina.

TheSocietyheld its firstannualconferenceheld inPrinceton,N.J. in1985andhasorganized itsannualconferenceinChinasince1993,oftenjointlyhostedwithaChineseuniversity.TheSocietyalsoorganizesthemedNorthAmericaconferences.TheCESconferenceshavebeenwidelyattendedby internationally renownedeconomists, seniorgovernmentofficials, andbusiness leaders.TheCES conferences have had profound policy impacts on China’s market-oriented transition andreformsaswellaseconomicdevelopmentstrategy.

In 1989, the CES launched an English-language journal China Economic Review (CER), whichachievedworldwidecirculationandbecameaninfluentialacademicperiodicalonChina’seconomyinjustafewyears.TheCESbecameamemberoftheAlliedSocialSciencesAssociation(ASSA)in1992andhasorganizedindependentandjointsessionsattheASSAmeetings.Since1990,theCEShas run short-term teaching programs every year to support its overseasmembers to teach inChineseuniversities.TheprogramswereinitiallyfundedbytheFordFoundationandlaterbythePaulaandGregoryChowFoundation.
