From my research I have decided to use certain conventions for my product. I am planning to use…

Natural backgrounds and scenery as seen in the music videos I have researched. I believe that this will allow the audience to focus more on the song and the lyrics, it will also fit in well with the genre of music, as my chosen genre is folk/rock which has been stereotypically linked with the countryside and other natural environments. I plan on using a location which will fit in well with the song I have chosen. I would like the audience to be able to connect to the video and I believe that the right location for the song and the genre will allows a connection to be made.

I am also planning to use casual clothes which don't attract too much attention, as i am trying to draw the audiences attention more towards the song and the storyline instead of the location and the costumes worn. I will use clothes that aren't too distracting but allow the audience to understand hat is happening in the music video. The clothes will represent a lot in my video as they show how the storyline changes and how atmosphere of the video changes. I plan to use specific props to help show emotion and how the storyline changes throughout the video.

I am also planning to use particular angles which will highlight certain points of the location and will emphasise the emotions of the characters used in the video, i think this will draw attention to the important parts of the video and will make the video more attractive and will make it easier for the audience to understand. I also believe that it will help the audience catch the important aspects of the music video and will help them relate to the emotions portrayed by the main character in the video. It will also help the audience create a sense of sympathy towards the character.

I have chosen to edit my music video to suite the tempo of the song and the chosen storyline. I will also use specific scenes and shots which relate to the lyrics of the song to make it easier for the audience to understand and relate to the song. I may also use some non-diegetic sound at the beginning of the music video to emphasise the events taking place during the short shots being shown.

Although I believe that some non-diegetic sound can be distracting for the audience I also believe that when it is used correctly in the right places it can add a certain effect to the video. I plan to use non- diegetic sound for about 10-20 seconds at the beginning of the video to add tension. This will be the only sound I add to my video and I want the audience to focus on the song and the video, and would not like them to be distracted by any other sounds.
