    1721April,2013ASharedMemoryWalk,throughaseriesofinstallations,textiles,ceramics,photography,film

    byinternational,nationalandlocalartists.13 artists from Gujarat, Lancashire, Ahmedabad and Manchester have been exchanging

    ideas and travelling to each others cities over the last two years as part of a project called

    Cotton Exchange. Textile artists, weavers, photographers, film and media artists, potters

    and designers; they have all made new work which has been installed in the dramatic

    environment of the Old Rajnagar Mill. Telling stories of travel the works explore the linked

    cotton heritage between India and the UK and more specifically the two great cotton

    centres of the world Ahmedabad and Manchester.

    This project has been made possible through a partnership between Centre for Heritage

    Management (CHM) at Ahmedabad University and Manchester Institute for Research in Art

    and Design, Manchester School of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University, in association

    with National Textile Corporation Ltd. (A Government of India Undertaking).

    The installations take you on a journey through the spaces and memories of the mill. The

    artists thoughtful and imaginative responses to their experiences give food for thought on

    how to draw from and value heritage and imagine creative futures.
