Background
670 million people live in rural areas in China;
More then 70 % of rural households use solid fuel; Most biomass wastes are burnt in the field;
Thermal efficiency of old traditional stove is only 12%;
Old traditional stove emits much pollution;
IAP causes 500,000 deaths per year in China.

Comparison of the testing procedures
According to the test results, the increase of MC of fuel resulted in lower emission factors of CO and PM2.5.
The effect were both statistically significant (p<0.05), although the effect became weaker at higher MC.

Carbon program development process
SurveySurvey KPTKPT IAPIAP
Before biomass stove 99% of rural households used coal with the amount of 3.15t per year. After biomass stove, most people no long used coal, which saved fuel cost and alleviate health problem.
Each household can save 2.1t coal, 15,134MJ energy and reduce 4tCO2 emissions during 8 months usage period. Thus small scale CDM project can be applied. Carbon finance can be used to subsidize residents.
After biomass stove each kind of pollutions is reduced effectively with 47.1%CO, 30.07%PM2.5, almost 100%SO2.
All data above is necessary for applying CDM project and can provide data support for seeking international funds.
Carbon program development process
The result shows that each household can save 1.79t coal and 16,141MJ energy per year with 7.6 months usage period of biomass stove.
Biomass stove can both save fuel and cost and protect environment by reducing pollution emissions. Carbon finance can provide subsidy for stoves under CDM. Thus stove price is reduced and stove dissemination can be expanded, which is beneficial to rural residents.
