China is the fourth biggest country in the world, located in the east of the largest continent, Asia. The population in china today is estimated about 1.4 billion, the largest population of the whole entire world. Over the last 50 years, it has grown rapidly, twice the size the population in 1960, which was about 662 million. People realize the seriousness of this situation so they have introduces to the population a rule, which each couple is only allowed to have one child, called “the one child policy”. I am writing this report to explain about the growth of this country and the impact that this new policy can cause amongst the people in China. Every year, china’s population grows by 14 million people, which is three quarter of Australia’s entire population. According to the graph above, the population of china has raised steady during 57 years. It has an increasing birth rate, because the country is developing, people are getting better satisfaction so they give birth to more kids. Baby boom occurs due to high fertility of the country. In the years 1950s, Communist took over this country; change it into the Republic of China. In 1949, the leader, Mao Zedong engaged the people to give birth to as many children as possible, so that they would have a strong army in the future. Since it is Communist, people in the country support each other. Why did the people listen? Because the government did this on purpose, that there will be more people, to help in the farming or running businesses , more heads are going to be put into the growth of the country’s economic . They know it is good for them. Also in a communis m country, it is a traditional that everyone works together, when one of them is poor, the whole population is, and so it does make sense for the reason why they all did. Because if you don’t you might loose respect from the other, even your relatives. Why the “One Child Policy” was needed? After number of years, people have soon realized the seriousness of the situation. It becomes a major issue. The more the population, the more resources are used up, nevertheless, Chinas has to faced with shortage of the natural resources, including not enough of arable, farming land, which leads to lack of food to provide to everyone. A famine took placed in 1958-61. Not enough land for leaving, not every where in the country is flat land, so there would be some regions very crowed and some with a very low density.
