The Republic of China was established in mainland China after the fall of the last imperial dynasty, the Qing dynasty. The symbols come from the current state of the Chinese Nationalist party Kuomintang, founded by Sun Yat-sen, and that was able to establish a unified republic in 1927 under the command of Chiang Kai-shek, with its capital at Nanking. In 1937 explodes the second sino-japanese war, which has bled the country causing millions of civilian casualties.
