Get a jump start on your holiday shopping. Look for the September catalog with more to come!

Page 2: Children's Art Project Holiday 2010 Preview

You twitter and email, send photos

via phone, blog, text and check your

Facebook for the latest messages. The

Children’s Art Project at The University

of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

is doing the same — tweeting, blogging,

keeping up with lots of customers via

Facebook, and expanding our website.

We love to hear from you! There is

excitement in this instant communication

— and once we start, we can’t do without it.

Remember, though, it’s not the only way to touch

base with your friends.

This season you can slow down and send a more personal holiday

greeting to family, friends and business associates — one that doesn’t

fade away on a digital screen. It’s tangible and your message can be

looked at over and over. Send a holiday card from the Children’s Art

Project! They come in a variety of sizes and designs to fit your holiday

expectations. You will also find our photo cards in this catalog, and

who doesn’t love to see how your family has grown in the past year?

Your photos can print digitally right on the card, eliminating tape,

glue, buying dozens of copies of one photo and the time it takes you to

put cards and photos together. We can also personalize your cards,

printing your name inside the card and your address on the

back flap of the envelope.

This season send a special and lasting message to your friends, along

with your support for the Children’s Art Project to make life better

for children with cancer.

Dalvin Blanchard has a special guardian angel. A 16-year-old junior atWillow Ridge High School in Houston, Texas, Dalvin may not have alwaysknown that this person was an angel. The transformation happened veryquickly. Last year Dalvin was just a typical teenager, focused on his grades atschool, girls and football. He played running back, wide receiver and strongsafety, working toward a successful sophomore season. Duringpractice one day, he hurt his leg and couldn’t run. His coach sent him to a specialist to check out the injury. The answer was worse than a pulled muscle or brokenleg. Dalvin had rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue tumor. That’s when his guardian angel showed up.

Dalvin’s brother, Lesley, is 14 years older than Dalvin.Lesley took over as Dalvin’s caretaker and guardian angelso his parents could continue to work and maintain theirinsurance on Dalvin. The change in their relationship has been a bonus for both. Dalvin is no longer the “littlekid” who was sometimes an annoyance, and Lesley isno longer the distant, grown-up big brother. Theyhave become close friends and enjoy doing manythings together.

Dalvin missed the football season his sophomoreyear, but he continued his interest in the game.He and Lesley play “Madden NFL 10”, a videofootball game. He is also into rap music, textinghis friends and driving. Lesley helped him get hislearner’s permit last May. His favorite subjects at school are English Language Arts, readingand computer classes. He loves pizza witheverything on it. Oh — and those girls. Hestill loves them! With that guardian angelwatching over his every move, Dalvin isheaded for a normal life where he canachieve all that he dreams to be.

Olivia Palacios will capture your heart with her sunny smile. She is a tiny younglady who is just 5 years old, but size and age have little to do with Olivia’scharming persona. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia(ALL) when she was only 3. Her mother Rebecca says Olivia has respondedvery well to all her treatments. She is now on maintenance and should bethrough with treatment by the end of 2010. One bonus is that after losing all her hair during this process, Olivia has grown “new hair.”This huge bump in the road of her life seems to have had little effect on Olivia’s development as a healthy, happy, normal child. Her manners are lovely! She is a budding artist who is fond of drawing and painting (pink is her favorite color, with purple coming in at a close second). During our photosession, she asked to have her pencil sharpened so she could make her linesdarker and sharper. She has great fine muscle control and strong littlehands, so she can stay in the lines when she is coloring and make thecolors dark. She also writes her name beautifully.

Olivia enjoys many activities. In addition to her favorites — gymnasticsand shopping — Olivia also loves to go to the movies. Her mother says a career as a movie critic may be in her future. Her favorite movie right now is“Flushed Away.” She alsohas the ability to focus! She can run all theremotes in the house andmanage her mom’s cell phone — or maybe that’s a skill that comes naturallyto 5-year-olds! With thesupport of her great family— dad Sonny, momRebecca, sister Brianna,13, and brotherCaleb, 2 — andher extendedfamily and friends,Olivia is already dancing toward tomorrow!
