Smith is President of M-POWERHOUSE of Greater Pisburgh and creator of Bridge 2 the Future youth symposium and founder of Cradle 2 Careers, Inc. Mr. Smith’s current and prior affiliations are: Community College of Allegheny County Advisory Board for the School of Social Work, Co-Chair of the Pisburgh Food Policy Council Governing Commiee, City Advisory Board Member for Mechanics and Farmers Bank, 2009 Co-Chair for Partner- ship for a Healthy Durham Violence and Injury Prevention Commiee, Founder of Afro-Centric Issues and Social Concepts, Inc. and Chairman and CEO of Wisdom, Work and Wealth, LLC. Dr. George K. Gies is the Benjamin R. Fisher Chair of Pediatric Surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief Director, Pediatric Surgical Research Professor, Department of Surgery, University of Pisburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Gies came to Pisburgh in 2005 from Children’s Mercy Hospital and the University of Missouri Kansas City School Hospital and the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine, where he held the Thomas M. Holder/Keith of Medicine, where he held the Thomas M. Holder/Keith W. Ashcraft Chair in Pediatric Surgical Re- search. He has long been actively involved in mentoring the next generation of scientific researchers. Dr. Gies was the 2005–06 president of the Society of University Surgeons and is professor of Surgery at the University of Pis- burgh School of Medicine. Pisburgh CAPA 6-12 is a Creative and Performing Arts Magnet school located in the heart of Pisburgh's down- town cultural district. In 2009, CAPA was awarded the Blue Ribbon as a school of Distinction by the Department of Education. The environment at CAPA 6-12 is enhanced by partnerships and collaborations with local and national cultural organizations and universities that provide opportunities in which to explore the relationships between school, family and work. In 2014, US News and World Report named CAPA in the Top 20 of Best High Schools in Pennsylvania. M-PowerHouse of Greater Pisburgh in partnership with CAPA school and students have collaborat- ed to address the barriers to success in “STEAM” science, technology, engineering, arts, math and soft skills through dramatic scenes and peer to peer emulating. The student artist are Jaumair Garland, Chelsea Calfo, Maya Fullard, Zoey Myers, Lance Joos, Justin Bees, Christina Miller and Sundiata Rice. As quoted by the great actress Cicely Tyson “Challenges Make You Discover Things About Yourself That You Never Really Knew” This group of artists through their skill set shed light on subjects that promote making the right decisions and choices. Dr. Ward M. Richardson is an Assistant Professor of Surgery, University of Pisburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Rich- ardson obtained his MD degree from the University of Pisburgh School of Medicine as well as completed his resi- dency and fellowship at the University of Pisburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Richardson specialty is surgery with a secondary specialty in Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Richardson has received numerous awards such as the Arthur E. Baue Travel Award,8th Annual TSIS Meeting, Munich, Germany, 2010. The Owen H. Wangennsteen Surgical Forum Ex- cellence in Research Award, 2008.The Surgical Infectious Society Resident Research Fellowship, 2008.The Sieber Award in Pediatric Surgery, Top medical student in Pediatric Surgery, University of Pisburgh School of Medicine, 2004 and the Medicine First Professional Award, University of Pisburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Unoma Akamagwuna is a pediatric physiatrist in Pisburgh, Pennsylvania and is affiliated with Children's Hos- pital of Pisburgh of UPMC. She received her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medi- cine and has been in practice between 6-10 years. Dr. Owusu-Ansah is married to a firefighter/paramedic and has two beautiful daughters. Once homeless and one who occu- pied the unforgiving streets of Pisburgh Pa., Alaquiva shifted the trajectory of his life's path to become one of the most distinct trailblazers in the arena of creative arts. Emmai prides himself on giving back to his community through an array of artistic avenues. Today, Alaquiva is the proud CEO of Ya Momz House, Inc., an award-winning multimedia company, director for CBS Sports Network’s Daytime Emmy-nominated TV Show “Game Changers,” as well as founder of the award-winning arts education program; Hip-Hop On L.O.C.K. which has over 48 partnerships, in 11 school districts and served over 5,000 young people to date throughout western pa. Presenting his first TEDex talk in 2016, Alaquiva’s work can be seen and heard across the world through media giants from NBC, BBC and PBS to celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Wiz Khalifa, Martha Stewart, The Roots, Rachel Ray, the late Dr. Maya Ange- lou and more. This seven-time Telly Award-winner has been recognized as Pisburgh “40 under 40”, “50 Finest”, “FAB 40”, along with several proclamations from City of Pisburgh Mayor, William Peduto. Alaquiva was recently awarded as GET Involved, Inc.’s 2017 “Man of The Year” for his community leadership, WHIRL Magazine’s 2017, “Couples Who Make a Difference” along with his wife for their philanthropic work raising thousands for charity and is a national BMe Community Leader recognized by President Barack Obama. Emmai’s community commitment is evident through his work with the NAACP, Gwen’s Girls, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Amachi Pisburgh, Repair the World, and the Best of the Batch Foundation...just to name a few. In 2016, Alaquiva added curator to his name with the birth of his first notable interactive photography exhibit; Optic Voices that explores issues ranging from the Black Lives Maer Movement to LGBTQIA. The impact of Optic Voices is larger than Alaquiva could have imag- ined, with a host of organizations and educational institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne Uni- versity, and Winchester Thurston using his work as reference material for social justice and change. Alaquiva’s most recent humanitarian effort comes in the form of his international directorial premiere of the film Gheo Steps, which recalls the resilient excursion of Jewish people during the Holocaust. I’m proud to announce that Gheo Steps is nominated for a 2017 Emmy award. Lastly, Alaquiva strives to continue to be a devoted father, faithful husband, and all-around man of God.
