Several weeks ago, representatives from seven Park Avenue families attended a parenting conference at McDermott Church of Christ in Allen. The keynote speakers inspired us to be intentional about living as Kingdom families, and the breakout sessions provided practical guidance for making that a reality in our homes. Several of us attended a session by Trane Wyatt who spoke about how to be intentional with our time and gave some principles for developing a God-honoring family schedule. Wyatt read, “Be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16). Wyatt’s effective visual aid included large jars of marbles, each labeled with the stages of life of a child. The first jar was filled to the brim with marbles, signifying many hours that parents will have to influence a child! As the years go by, the number of marbles is reduced, and
the last jar has only a few precious marbles, signify-ing the remaining moments of influence while the child is in the home. The speaker challenged us to examine what changes needed to be made as to how we are spending our time to ensure that when the marbles run out, we will have accomplished what we’d hoped for in the faith of our children. The dates are already marked for this conference next year and we plan to take a group again, so mark your calendar for January 19, 2019!
Titus Project Updates Titus Project will meet today from 3-5 p.m. No meal will be provided today. Titus Project will not meet next week, Feb. 11 due to the Sweetheart Banquet.

Todd’s Take Welcome. Glad you are here today! This morning I’ll be wrapping up our
thoughts on Following Jesus. I continue to encourage you to seek out small changes you can make in your life that will lead you to a more effective and fulfilling walk with the Lord. Remember, you will not drift into discipleship. It’s an intentional decision followed by specific actions that will have an incredible effect on your life. The call to follow Jesus is the greatest invitation you will ever receive! With the Super Bowl today please note changes in meeting times for the Titus Project and our small
groups. Today is the first day to register for the annual Ladies Retreat. There will be information in the Atrium after worship. You can register there or you can go online to reserve your spot. Mark your calendars for Sunday, March 4 as we will celebrate our 30th anniversary here at Park Avenue and honor our charter members. If you are a charter member of Park Avenue and have not let the office know, please do so as soon as possible. I’ve enjoyed looking through old footage of the many meetings leading up to the move, the groundbreaking and construction, and the first service here in 1987. PACOC has a great history and a great future!
PAWS FOR A NEW CAUSE
Communication Card Information We ask that everyone here today complete a Communi-cation Card and place it in the offering trays when they are passed. Or, you can complete one digitally through

SWEETHEART BANQUET
This past Wednes-day at our PAWS for a Cause meal we introduced a new ministry PA
will be partnering with in 2018. Family Promise of Grayson County ministers to homeless families with children giving them hope and resources to regain sustainable independ-ence. We raised over $1200 Wednesday to help finance our participation in this work. As 2018 progresses we will be asking for volunteers to help as PA will be hosting families in the ARK up to four individual weeks of the year. Talk to Basil or Todd for more information.
PrayerMail is an email that is sent our periodically to keep you updated of the prayer needs of the church. For many years Kathy Sturch has managed this ministry, but has recently handed that off to Becky Russell.
Many, many thanks to Kathy Sturch for her faithful service.
To submit prayer requests you can send an email to [email protected] or you can email Becky Russell
at [email protected]. You can also submit requests through the website or app. You can subscribe to PrayerMail through the website or app or you can send an email to [email protected] and ask to be added.
I’m putting together a video for PACOC’s 30th anniversary celebration on Sunday, March 4 and am looking for some charter members to share some memories of the move from Armstrong Avenue to Park Avenue. Contact me (Todd) today or shoot me an email or phone call to set up a time when we can get together and reminisce.
