Psalm 127:3 Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Dear Parents, Please allow me to share some personal things about our family in the hope that you will be encouraged as parents… The most precious gifts other than our salvation that God has given to Mr. Owen and I are our two children. They came to us in two separate packages, one through adoption and the other as a newborn. Both packages have stories of God’s faithfulness and bless-ing wrapped all around them. As parents, we cannot begin to express the multitude of precious ways God has blessed us through each of them. Being parents has been and still is one of the most awesome jobs God has called us to do. Be assured that it has also been the most challenging at times, but God has been faithful to walk with us through eve-ry situation that has come our way. We began early to pray that our children would come to accept the Lord as their Savior and it was our privilege to pray with each of them when they made that decision. God en-abled us to have them in Christian School from the time they started. What a precious blessing to know that they were in a place where daily they were being taught God’s Word by devoted Christian teachers and staff. We also began early to pray for the persons they would one day marry and we praise the Lord for a wonderful daughter-in-law and son-in-law who have become a part of our family as well. They are bless-ings to us, but more importantly they love and are deeply devoted to our children. We became Grand-parents to a beautiful granddaughter who is now 14 years old and started high school this year and the blessings continue to abound. Mr. Owen and I pray for your family as you daily walk in Christ’s way and endeavor to be the Godly parents he has planned for you and your children. In His Love, Mrs. Owen

Elementary Library News
Think your 4th or 5th - grader is too old for fairy tales? Not when it means they get to engineer part of the sto-ry! In fourth grade, this month, we have read Jack and the Beanstalk, and the kids are designing a parachute for Jack to get back down. Some of the materials pro-vided are coffee filters, plastic bags, string, tape, and tissue paper… Whose parachute will float down the slowest so Jack can reach the ground safely?
Fifth-graders have read a version of Rapunzel that is closer to the original than the Disney version. Their as-signment is to create a pulley system that can hoist the most weight up the tower. Their materials include a Pringles can, Dixie cups, paperclips, and string. Learning to work together to solve a problem is a skill that is illus-trated all the way from the simplest children’s books to the highest-power offices. We love to watch them figure it all out!
Second-graders are also reaching an exciting library milestone this month – Accelerated Reader! Parents should have received a letter about the program by now. If not, please email or give us a call if you have any questions. The kids are so excited about logging on and taking quizzes for points to spend in the quarterly store!
Lastly, kindergarten and 1st grade are comparing and contrasting different books by Jan Brett, and 3rd grade is studying the Caldecott Award. In other news, if your child is a blooming author, this contest from KET could be a great experience – check it out!
