Please note this is a ‘working’ on-line document & will be updated & republished at the end of
each week. Any additions or changes will be highlighted in red so they are easily identifiable. The directory can be accessed via the following website link:

Multi-Agency Delegates
Multi-Agency delegates wanting to attend any of the training sessions detailed in this
programme should email [email protected] to book their place -unless otherwise specified.
Darlington Borough Council Staff
Darlington Borough Council staff wanting to attend any of the training sessions detailed in
this programme should email [email protected] to book their
place – unless otherwise specified. Please note that you must discuss and agree with your Line Manager before applying to attend any of the courses listed in the
directory. Joining instructions are sent out approximately 2 weeks before each event date. If you have not received your copy a week before the training date then please email the
appropriate links above.
Details of how to apply for Resources training or external training/conferences or accredited
qualifications are included in appendix A.
Webinars - staff should register themselves on the session & inform
[email protected] once completed so individual training records can be updated
Cancellation Policy
Could I please remind all delegates of the importance of cancelling their place on training PRIOR to the course date if you are no longer able to attend. Some of our courses run with
low numbers & it is unacceptable that delegates simply do not ‘turn up’ on the day. It leaves the trainer with the difficult decision of either running the course with too few delegates
(which detracts from the value of the training & is not cost effective) or cancelling the session
on the day which again is a waste of time & resources. Delegate who do not arrive on the day & have not cancelled their place will be contacted after the course to ask for a reason for
their non-attendance.
• Cancellation of a Place Prior to the Course Date
If a DBC delegate is unable to attend the course prior to the course date, they should ask their Line Manager to email [email protected] as soon as
possible to cancel their place. Multi-Agency delegates should email [email protected] directly.
• Cancellation of a Place on the Course Date
If a delegate is unable to attend the course on the actual day of the course due to
sickness or an emergency situation, they should contact their Line Manager as soon as possible & ask that they pass that information onto the Workforce Development Team
immediately or they should contact the Workforce Development Team directly by emailing [email protected] or ringing on 01325 406388.

• Late Arrivals
To ensure that all candidates receive the maximum benefit from the learning
opportunity, we ask that candidates arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of the course. If the candidate is unable to make the start time, they should contact the
Workforce Development Team on 01325 406388 who will check that the facilitator is
willing to accept the candidate onto the course. If a delegate arrives late on the day they may not be allowed to stay. This decision is made at the trainer’s discretion.
• Leaving Early
If the candidate is unable to stay for the full duration of the training, they should contact the Workforce Development Team on 01325 406388 who will check with the
facilitator that it is acceptable for the candidate to leave early.
Charging Policy
Most of the training in this directory is currently provided free of charge but consideration is
being given to implementing a charging / non-attendance policy.
Resources Group Training
Additional training is available through the Resources Group & is open to Darlington
Borough Council staff only.

Neglect – NSPCC Graded Care Profile 2
The NSPCC Graded Care Profile (GCP) is designed to help practitioners spot when a child is at risk of neglect & get the right help to families earlier. The GCP2 is a practical tool which supports practitioners in measuring the quality of care delivered to an individual child from an individual
carer or carers over a short window of time, & is designed to give a representative overview of the current level of care. The grades are based on observations & good quality evidence gathered during this window. All practitioners using the GCP2 will attend & pass a licensed training programme.

Relational Practice Restorative & relational based practice describe a way of being, an underpinning ethos which enables us to build & maintain healthy relationships, resolve difficulties & repair harm when relationships breakdown. It is founded on the principles of working ‘with’ people, rather than doing ‘to’ or ‘for’ others. The Impact of Domestic Violence on Children & Young People in Care
As foster carers your role often involves re-parenting the child you are caring for who has experienced DV. This involves understanding the child & that the impact of DV has been on 3 different areas of their life: the impact on child development, the impact on their attachment & the impact on their brain development. This course will enable foster carers to understand what DV is, how DV happens, the impact on the child/ren in the birth family, the child’s compulsion to repeat violent modelled behaviours in the foster home & what children need from carers to feel safe. With this understanding you can then work as part of the team around the child to provide holistic care for
children recovering from DV.
