  • Any questions?

    Hi everyone. Introduction:

Hello, my name is... And Im here to tell you about Childreach International and the work they do, and also how Im fundraising for this great charity.

Childreach is an international development charity that works on a grass roots level with communities throughout the developing world. Every child should have the opportunity to unlock their full potential, and so Childreach work hand-in-hand with some of the most vulnerable communities to ensure sustainable solutions for the future of the children. To date, they have reached over 300,000 beneficiaries, and they keep growing!*Here are a few facts on the amount of children we managed to help in 2010 alone!*Childreach International works in the following countries on many different projects, reaching children and families in many different circumstances.*Heres where you can talk about your challenge event!! This is just an outline of what you might like to talk about, so please go into more detail we know youre passionate about it, so dont be shy

I will be trekking through the Atlas mountains encountering a rich variety of culture along the way, meeting Berber people who have lived life, practically unchanged for centuries!

The money I and my fellow team mates raise on the trek will be put towards some of Childreachs projects around the world. Childreach do not currently work in Peru, but they have had, and continue to have great success in helping children in Nepal, India and Tanzania (and now Cambodia and Bangladesh!) unlock their full potential.

Here are some examples of projects Childreach have worked with in Nepal, India and Tanzania.

*In 2010, Childreach International opened an office in Nepal. This in-country office is staffed with experienced and knowledgable local staff who understand the local community and the culture, and also have strong links with the local government and key decision makers. This office will facilitate the future expansion of our work in Nepal.

Childreach Nepal currently supports seven inspiring projects and partners: The Association for the Welfare of the Intellectually handicapped (AWIH), Antardristi, Chiluane Secondary School, Yangrima School, Dhulikhel Hospiral, Roshi School and Tree Planting Project.

Next, you will see how some of the work that Childreach has done has benefitted the lives of children in Nepal.*And here are a few examples of the impact weve had in other countries!!*ShaishavWith Childreach International India's support, Shaishav run an innovative Children Development and Empowerment Programme called Balsena. Balsena is a childrens collective which gives a platform to children to voice their concerns. They hold monthly meetings, programmes, activities and celebrations and work together to solve problems they face at home, school or in their communities. The partnership will strengthen the work of Balsena by providing opportunities to train and create more leaders within the child population of the Bhavnagar district of Gujarat, so as to ensure the sustainability of the development process in the region. Childreach International India also intends to spread the positive impact and influence that Balsena has had to other regions as well by strengthening other childrens organisations working through similar initiatives.Lalji, aged 12Lalji has been a Balsena member for 4 years.I joined because there are lots of new things that I can learn and it gave me the opportunity to join the Savings Bank. I am saving up for a bicycle; I know it will take some time! Ive learnt how to plan events and have celebrated many festivals, such as the Kite Flying festival and Diwali. Ive made lots of new friends and I would recommend that other children to join Balsena too - I recruited my friend to join. If I had not been a member I would not have learnt new games and participated in so many programmes.Find out more aboutShaishav.*Childreach International *I hope this presentation has opened your eyes to the kind of work Childreach International does, and the impact that has already been made. If you have any questions about the work that Childreach International do, or about my challenge event, then please throw em my way!
