Child injury prevention is important, effective and quite easy.

Adults hodl the keys for health of children.

Injury is serious event threatening all children.

• Two year old girl found grandmother‘s pills - serious poisoning.

• One year old girl grabbed boiling kettle electric cable. Scalds were fatal.

• 6 y.o. child played with electric socket and suffered burns from electric current.

• 4 y.o. boy has drawned in a family house swimming pool.

• Small child fell out of window. It survived, but with health handicap.

• Group of children played at building ground, one of them was burried by concrete tube - it did not survived.

• 13 y.o. boy fell from bycicle. Without helmet he suffered lethel head injuriy.

Burning, scald, head injury, poisoning, drawning, fall, polythrauma, ...

… we all know these injuries, they happen, but there happen more serious ones ...

Injuries can be prevented by changing environment or changing behavior.

Experiences teach us that injury prevention is worthwile.

Number of children deaths decreased by 90% in Sweden during last 50 years.

USA: Every one dollar payed for prevention saves 3 dollars in expenses for treating injuries.

IN Czech Republic number of children deaths decreased by 40% since 1997.

CHILD INJURIES

Typology of child injuries according to age and place.

Pre-school Home, traffic, streets

• Child grabs electric cable and is burnt by boiling or friting kettle, iron - serious burnings, scalds.

• Child pulls down tablecloth with a hot soup, tea or coffee, burns itself by garden grill.

• Child plays with electrick socket or electric cable, bites electric kabel - serious burns of mouth, tongue, lips or fingers.

• Child falls off from an unprotected staircase, balcony - injures its head.

• Childs falls into garden swimming pool, pond or water barrell - drawning.

• Child swallows by mistake some pills, medicine or chemicals adults left without control - poisoning.

Environment should be safe,

child should be under control.

Injuries are the biggest enemy of children!

Every injury is needless, has its own causes and can be prevented.!

So little manage: to create safe environment for children and teach them to behave safely!
