Every collegiate soccer season comes with its own set of unique personalities, challenges, and successes. For Chico State head men÷s coach Felipe Restrepo, one early clue of what the 2019 season might have in store came at the team÷s annual preseason pool party hosted by Mikey

Hirschhe and his wife, Mandi. “All the young guys were in the pool cannonballing each other, laughing and yelling and being goofy,‘ said Restrepo. ”I haven÷t had that in a while. It was refreshing.‘ Restrepo÷s squad is markedly younger than in year÷s past, featuring 17 freshmen and 20 who have yet to make their Chico State debut, out of a roster of 32. The Wildcats are coming off another tremendous season in which they flnished third in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, reached the CCAA Tournament for the third year in a row, and earned their fourth NCAA Championship Tournament berth in the past nine seasons, flnishing 13-6-1. Despite losing some key members of last season÷s squad, and the in‡ux of youth, the Wildcats aren÷t exactly short on experience. Mikey Hirsch, Ronan McEnroe, Justin Bethke, and Alex Fluitt are all redshirt seniors beginning their flfth year in the program. Redshirt juniors Cooper Renteria and Garrett Hogbin have put in three seasons apiece. Seniors Matt Haflzi and Samuel Licona are senior transfers in their second season in the program. And graduate transfer Joey Scotti played the last three years at California Baptist. ”What I think is really cool is we÷ve got a good bunch of guys who have really put their stamp on the program over the last few years,‘ said Restrepo. ”They÷ve all been to the NCAA Tournament. They÷ve done nothing but win. Now, we÷re asking them to be the stewards of the program and show the new guys the way and they are doing a terriflc job.‘ The in‡ux of youth has been both anxiety-inducing and exciting. ”There are some unknowns in places and we÷re trying to flnd ourselves a little bit,‘ said Restrepo. ”But it÷s also been a lot of fun. There÷s a lot of new talent and we÷re building an identity for ourselves.‘ Restrepo has relished the uptick in teachable moments. ”I flnd that those things flne-tune our culture and continue to grow our program.” The CCAA÷s coaches don÷t seem to expect a major drop off from the Wildcats this season. They are picked to flnish flfth in the preseason coaches÷ poll. The Wildcats have developed an impressive winning tradition, having put together eight consecutive winning

seasons and a .632 winning percentage during Restrepo÷s tenure, and winning percentage of .611 during their 56-year history. ”Our positive culture and leadership are our biggest drivers,‘ said Restrepo. ”I÷m talking about leadership from a standpoint of thinking bigger than soccer. We want to build up these young men to excel in the areas of family, community, and career. ”The goal is for these guys to be identifled as leaders. I want them getting job offers before they even graduate, which is what we÷ve been seeing. One of our alums, Russ(ell) Ellyson, just got into med school, and another, Chris Paolo, is applying to med school, which is something I÷m really proud of.‘ When the whistle sounds, make no mistake, Restrepo wants to see his Wildcats operating with precision on the pitch. That effort will start with the team÷s back line. Hogbin, a Third Team All-West Region performer last season, and Bethke, who will make his 39th consecutive start Thursday, anchor that unit. Scotti will join them, along with one of the following exciting options: sophomore returner DiAngelo Gleaves, Oxnard Community College transfer Servando Higuera, redshirt freshmen Diego Caballero and Donovan Jackson, and true freshman Ben Souza. Another true freshman, Garvin Brooks, will redshirt this year. They÷ll be the last line of defense before new goalkeeper Jose Paredes, a two-time First Team All-South Coast Conference selection while playing at Rio Hondo Community College. He redshirted last season behind CCAA Goalkeeper of the Year Damion Lewis. ”Jose has a lot of experience and he÷s a talented goalkeeper,‘ said Restrepo. ”He÷s waited patiently and he÷s excited to prove himself at this level.” Paredes will be backed up by a trio of freshmen: Luis Albarran, Marshall Herrman, and Bennett Fries. The midfleld will look much the same as it did in 2018. Regulars McEnroe (2018 honorable mention All-CCAA), Fluitt (2018 honorable mention All-CCAA), Haflzi, Licona, Hirsch, and Renteria are all back in the mix, ‡anked by sophomore Anais Mayo, redshirt freshman Alex Low, and true freshman Anthony Kaskie. Up top, the Wildcats are exciting but unproven. Speedy Sophomore Andrew Hazzard is the lone returning forward with experience. He÷s joined by freshmen Jacob Chong“wh o Restrepo calls a cross between two-time All-Region forward Jeremiah Egujie and two-time All-American Ferid Celosmanovic“Noah Ristovski, Noah Ross, Zeke Shull, and Ryan Jordan. “These guys are all goal scorers. They are all skilled in front of the net,” said Restrepo. “But they are getting their flrst taste of big-time college soccer and that÷s a learning curve.‘ Four more Wildcats“sophomore Juan Perez and freshmen Liam Duer ksen, Connor Gorrien, and Kris Brown“have all sustained injuries in the buildup to the season and their status for the season is still to be determined. How the Wildcats will operate on the pitch this season is anybody÷s guess for now, though Restrepo believes the team has what it takes to make its fourth straight postseason appearance. In wins and losses, and during every practice, meeting, and road trip, there÷s much for the 2019 Wildcats to teach and learn. ”These guys are going to learn what it means to be part of a positive, successful culture“what it means to be a Wildcat,‘ said Restrepo. ”They÷re going to hear it from me for sure, but the beauty is that I÷m not teaching it on my own. The veterans and core leaders are helping teach the younger ones, and for me, that÷s a wonderful thing to witness.”

Head Coach Felipe Restrepo Felipe Restrepo is in his 12th year as Chico State÷s head men÷s soccer coach. Entering the 2019 campaign, Restrepo has guided the Wildcats to a 118-61-31 record and eight postseason appearances in his 11 seasons at the helm. Restrepo has led the ÷Cats to three California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) North Division crowns and one NCAA West Region title while making eight trips to the conference championship tournament and four NCAA Championship Tournament appearances. Under Restrepo÷s tutelage, several Chico State men÷s soccer players have earned individual recognition, racking up a combined 57 postseason conference awards, 36 All-West Region selections, and seven All-America honors. Restrepo himself has been named the CCAA Coach of the Year in 2008, and the United Soccer Coaches÷ 2013 West Region Coach of the Year. Restrepo÷s Chico State teams have developed a reputation of being extremely difflcult to beat at home, compiling a 66-25-12 mark (an impressive .699 winning percentage) at University Soccer Stadium. Restrepo led the Wildcats to a 13-6-1 record in 2018 and a third place CCAA flnish. Chico State, ranked seventh in the West Region, earned berths to both the CCAA and NCAA Championship Tournaments. The 13 victories marked the sixth time Restrepo has guided Chico State to double-digit wins in a season. The 2018 Wildcats owned one of the top defenses in Division II, allowing just 11 goals on the season and ranking sixth in the nation in goals against average (.533). Restrepo guided the ÷Cats to a 10-6-2 record in 2017, flnishing fourth in the CCAA and earning a conference championship tournament berth. On September 20, 2017, Restrepo posted his 100th career victory as Chico State head coach in the Wildcats÷ 2-0 win over Stanislaus State. A flve-match winning streak helped the Restrepo-led Wildcats to an 8-6-3 flnish in2016, placing fourth in the CCAA and earning a CCAA Championship Tournament berth. Restrepo oversaw a 7-6-4 record in 2015, and his 2014 Wildcat squad sported an 8-6-3 overall mark, losing just once in its flnal flve matches. Chico State allowed opponents only 14 goals on the season and ranked 17th in the nation in goals againstaverage. Restrepo led the Wildcats to a 14-4-3 record in 2013 and a third place flnish in the

ultra-competitive CCAA South Division. Chico State surged to the postseason by putting together a 10-match unbeaten streak, and won its opening round NCAA Championship Tournament game with a 1-0 blanking of regional rival Seattle Paciflc. The ÷Cats÷ defense flnished the year with the 10th-best goals against average in all of Division II men÷s soccer. In 2012, Restrepo guided the Wildcats to a 9-3-6 record and the program÷s third consecutive CCAA North Division title with an 8-1-5 conference mark. The ÷Cats went nearly two months without losing, boasting a 13-match unbeaten streak“matching the second-longest run in program hist ory. Restrepo steered the Wildcats to a 13-4-4 record in 2011, capturing the CCAA North Division crown and earning the West Region÷s No. 2 ranking. The ÷Cats reached the flnals of the CCAA Championship Tournament and made their second consecutive NCAA Championship Tournament appearance. In 2010, Chico State started the season by winning eight of its flrst nine matches to fuel a 15-7 overall record and an 11-5 conference mark, good for the flrst North Division crown of the Restrepo era. In the NCAA Championship Tournament, the Wildcats knocked off 17th-ranked Sonoma State and No. 7 Grand Canyon to capture the West Region title and reach the NCAA Championship quarterflnals. Chico State flnished the 2010 season ranked No. 8 in the USC national coaches÷ poll. Taking over the Chico State men÷s soccer program in 2008, Restrepo and the Wildcats made an immediate splash, winning six of seven matches to open the season and flnished with a 13-5-1 record, racking up the most wins by a Chico State men÷s soccer squad since 2003. The ÷Cats placed second in the CCAA North Division and were ranked No. 5 in the NCAA West Region, earning the program÷s flrst postseason appearance in flve years. Restrepo÷s 2009 squad posted an

Prior to assuming the Wildcats÷ top spot, Restrepo spent seven seasons as the head assistant coach at UC Davis, helping lead the Aggies to a 70-49-15 record during a time when the school was making the challenging transition to Division I competition. The Aggies ranked among the nation÷s top 10 scoring teams in 2007, posting a 12-5-3 record to earn an NCAA Championship Tournament berth in the program÷s flrst season as a Division I postseason-eligible program. Restrepo÷s flrst two seasons at UC Davis were the school÷s flnal two years as a member of Chico State÷s current conference, the CCAA. Over those two seasons, Restrepo helped lead the Aggies to a 26-12-2 record and a pair of top-flve regional rankings. Before arriving at UC Davis, Restrepo spent three years as an assistant coach at Cal State Monterey Bay. During his tenure, the Otters made two conference tournament appearances and earned a berth in the conference title game. Restrepo was the head coach of the York High School varsity boy÷s soccer team from 1998–2000 and earned Mountain Trail Athletic LeagueCoach of the Year honors in 2000. He also served as the head coach for a Felipe Restrepo ranks second in

As a midflelder for UC Davis, Restrepo was a four-year letterwinner, starting 52 of his flnal 55 games for the Aggies, and during his junior year was a Second Team All-Northern California Athletic Conference (NCAC) selection. Restrepo received his bachelor÷s degree in human development at UC Davis in 1998, and a master÷s in multicultural education at Cal State Monterey Bay in 2001. Restrepo earned his doctorate in social organization and educational policy through UC Davis in 2014.

Austin Swartz—Assistant Coach There÷s a new presence on the Chico State sidelines this season, as Austin Swartz joins the Wildcats÷ coaching staff. Swartz brings an impressive coaching resume to University Soccer Stadium. Before coming to Chico, he spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons as an assistant coach at Division I Sacramento State, and from 2015–16 was the head assistant coach at Humboldt State. Swartz has also coached at the club level for several years, logging a lengthy stint with the Mad River United Soccer Club in McKinleyville, and most recently serving as head coach of the Folsom Lake Earthquakes. As a player, Swartz was a prep standout at Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs, where he earned All-Sierra Valley Conference honors. The Sacramento native played a year at American

River College before becoming an All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) performer at Humboldt State. A team captain during his senior year, Swartz helped lead the Lumberjacks to an 8-1-1 record to begin the 2014 campaign“the most successful season start in the program÷s history. Swartz earned bachelor÷s degrees in history and philosophy from Humboldt State in 2014. He is currently working toward his master÷s degree in coaching and athletic administration.

Len Findlay—Assistant Coach Len Findlay, a veteran with over two decades of coaching experience, is in his flfth year as part of the Chico State men÷s soccer coaching staff. He has played a key role in the Wildcats reaching postseason play in each of the last three seasons. Findlay, who spent three seasons (1991—93) as a goalkeeper for Chico State, is actually in his second stint as a coach for the Wildcats, having previously served as an assistant for both the men÷s and women÷s soccer teams in 1994—95. Findlay has logged several years coaching high school and college soccer throughout the North State. He landed his flrst head coaching job at Orland High School in 1995, spent 10 seasons (1996—2005) leading the Butte College women÷s soccer program, while twice assuming head coaching duties (1999—2000, 2012—13) at Durham High School. Findlay has served as a coaching instructor for the California Youth Soccer Association/US Soccer Federation. Besides tending goal for Chico State, Findlay also played professionally, spending three years with the Chico Rooks (1993—95) and three seasons in England for Hull City AFC. Findlay has lent his multi-subject teaching skills to several Butte County institutions, including Butte College, Durham High School and Intermediate School, Oroville Adult Education, and the Chico Unifled School District.

Nick Lopez—Graduate Assistant Coach The newest addition to the Chico State coaching staff is a very familiar name to North State soccer fans. Chico native Nick Lopez, fresh off of wrapping up his college career with the Wildcats, joins Felipe Restrepo on the University Soccer Field sidelines in 2019. Lopez makes the transition from player to coach after spending two seasons as defender and midflelder for Chico State, helping the Wildcats reach the CCAA Championship Tournament in back-to-back years, and an NCAA Championship Tournament appearance in 2018. Lopez transferred to Chico following two seasons at West Valley College in Saratoga, where he led the Vikings to consecutive Coast Conference North championships. A two-time All-CCN recipient, Lopez was named the conference÷s Defender of the Year in 2015. A 2013 graduate of Chico÷s Pleasant Valley High School, Lopez was an All-Eastern Athletic

League selection and was instrumental in the Vikings winning the 2013 EAL championship. Student-athletes in the Chico State women÷s soccer program have a long tradition of being quick studies. The Wildcats have earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award in each of the last six years and 10 of the last 11 with a combined GPA of 3.0 or better. Jordan

Doukakis One of their instructors this fall might be a bit more abstract than most. ”I keep telling them we÷re going to let the game be the teacher,‘ said Wildcats Head Coach Kim Sutton, who is entering her 19th season at the helm. “I think this team will grow a lot through playing games, especially early on.” Class begins with a stiff test for the Wildcats: a road trip in early September to take on 15th-ranked Colorado School of Mines and then Regis University. With more than half of the roster made up of freshmen“17 of 33 to be exact“to go along with 10 sophomores, four juniors, and only two seniors, the Wildcats are extremely young. Sutton plans to start four freshmen in the season opener, with more greenhorns to follow off the bench. That isn÷t just because she wants to test them early. It÷s because she thinks they have the talent to provide some answers. “Our batch of freshmen is exceptional,” said Sutton. “They came in prepared and they are soccer savvy. We have a lot of players killing it at practice. They÷re improving every day.‘ They are no doubt benefltting from their other great teacher. The 12th-longest tenured Division II coach in the nation, Sutton÷s combined 237 victories between a six-season-stint at Humboldt State and her 18 at Chico State rank 32nd in Division II women÷s soccer history. Last season, Sutton guided the Wildcats to a 10-2-6 record (including 9-1-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, which was good for second place) and into the NCAA Championship Tournament for the second straight season and seventh time in 15 years. The young Wildcats will also learn from a core group that returns from last season, led by First Team All-Region midflelder Sarah Emigh, CCAA Freshman of the Year Susanna Garcia, All-CCAA defender Abbie Jones, fellow returning starters Jordan Doukakis and Nicole Marquez, and senior Aiden Williams. The CCAA Tournament Scholar Award winner, Emigh is a gritty defensive midflelder who has also racked up four goals and two assists in her flrst two seasons at Chico State. Garcia tied for the team lead with six goals last season, including three match winners, while also dishing out a pair of assists. most athletic player, Doukakis is the program÷s active leader in assists with eight. ”We don÷t have many upperclassmen, but the leadership is good,‘ said Sutton. ”We have a core group that÷s doing an exceptional job.‘ Jones and Williams help set the tone in distinctive ways. ”Abbie is a veteran starter who leads by example, but when it÷s called for, speaks with authority,‘ said Sutton. ”But she÷s still really approachable. The younger players feel like they can look to her for direction. ”Aiden is a silent worker who just exudes kindness, gets along with everyone, and has a knack for being around the goal at the right time.” The program÷s player-run leadership council, made up of much of that core group, created the team÷s motto for this season: C.A.R.E. (Character. Accountability. Resiliency. Engagement.). “The engagement piece has been our biggest focus early on,” said Sutton. “We are focusing on being engaged and present every day in every moment and being there for each other. That÷s who we are“a family .‘ The Wildcats are also fast. Freshmen starters Chloe King and Mackenzie Gill will ‡ank the speedy Garcia on the wings. ”Susanna will move around up top, and I think she÷ll match up nicely with Chloe and Mackenzie,‘ said Sutton. ”They play with a lot of pace. They÷re extra-hard workers. And they÷re great one-on-one. We÷re excited about them.‘ Another freshman, Camille Lidster, ”a super-active, buzz-around player with a great flrst touch,‘ according to Sutton, will join Emigh and sophomore returners Cody Johnson and Paige Slusarek in the midfleld. Lidster should beneflt from playing alongside Emigh. ”Sarah÷s the engine, the quarterback, and the heart and soul of the midfleld,‘ said Sutton. Joining Jones, Doukakis, and Kylie Martinez on the back line will be the fourth true freshman starter, Alexi Vontsolos, who Sutton describes as ”a very composed, smart, and super-technical player.‘ “There are a lot of others who have a chance to make a big contribution to the team,” said Sutton. “They going to get an opportunity to prove themselves. It÷s going to take the (non-conference) matches to flgure that out.‘ Victoria Graham, who started three matches between the pipes and went 2-0-1 with a .923 save percentage and 0.62 goals-against average as a freshman last season, will be the starter in goal. ”She÷s a great vocal presence and played well when she had the opportunity last year,‘ said Sutton. ”She÷s good off her line and in the air and growing and getting better with experience.” The season-opening weekend will be a sort of homecoming for Graham, who hails from just north of Denver in Fort Collins. She made her collegiate debut last season against Colorado Mines in Chico and made seven saves on the way to a shutout in the scoreless draw. A number of Wildcats would like to similarly prove themselves against Mines this season. Many will get the chance. “Who is going to emerge and grow the depth of our squad is the question right now,” said Sutton. “There are a lotof players who have the ability to make a big contribution to this team. ”This flrst road trip is going to be a great test for us. Our goal will be to grow together and get as prepared as we can be for CCAA play.”

Riley Riordan—Assistant Coach Riley Riordan is one of two new Wildcat assistants on Kim Sutton÷s 2019 coaching staff. Riordan comes to Chico following a year as an assistant coach at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. She helped the Panthers post a 12-5-1 record in 2017 and a berth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. Riordan joined the coaching ranks on the heels of a college career that saw the California native star in goal for DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. In two seasons, she racked up 21 wins and 10 shutouts and helped the Tigers win the 2015 North Coast Athletic Conference championship. Riordan earned Second Team All-NCAC honors as a senior. She also saw action as a freshman at Division I Northern Illinois University in 2013. Riordan was a prep star at St. Louis Park High School in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. A two-time

All-North Suburban League selection, she served as team captain during her senior season and was named the Orioles÷ MVP. Riordan earned her bachelor÷s degree in psychology from DePauw University in 2017.

Brenna Meier—Assistant Coach Stepping right off the pitch and into the college coaching ranks, Chico native and former Wildcat goalkeeper Brenna Meier joins the Chico State women÷s soccer staff in 2019. Though her college career came to an end last fall, Meier is no stranger to the world of coaching. Prior to joining Kim Sutton÷s staff, she has served as an assistant coach at Chico÷s Pleasant Valley High School since 2015, and for the past two years as goalie coach and trainer for the Chico Cal Soccer Club. Meier closed out her playing days in memorable fashion for the Wildcats in 2018, racking up eight wins and helping Chico State advance to its second NCAA Championship Tournament in as many years. In her flnal two regular season contests, Meier notched 15 saves and a pair of clean sheets to earn the CCAA Player of the Week award. More honors came in the postseason with anAll-CCAA Honorable Mention. Her eight shutouts in 2018 tied Meier for ninth place on Chico State÷s all-time single season shutout list. Meier was just as productive in the classroom, earning four CCAA All-Academic honors and two Division II Athletic Directors Academic Achievement Awards. Meier transferred to Chico State after playing two seasons at Butte College in Oroville. She was named First Team All-Golden Valley Conference and MVP in 2016 while ranking eighth in saves among state JC goalkeepers. A 2015 graduate of Chico÷s Pleasant Valley High School, Meier helped lead Vikings to four straight Eastern Athletic League crowns and the 2015 Northern Section Division I title. For her efforts, she earned three All-EAL honors and was named the league÷s MVP as a senior. Meier is currently working toward her master÷s degree in kinesiology from Chico State.

Mike Martini—Goalkeeper Coach Mike Martini is in the sixth year of his second stint working alongside Kim Sutton as the Wildcats÷ goalkeeper coach. Since returning to the Chico State sidelines, Martini has helped the ÷Cats reach the postseason four times, including two straight NCAA Championship Tournament appearances. Prior to his latest coaching tenure with the Wildcats, the former Chico State star mentored both the Wildcat men÷s and women÷s goalkeepers from 2002—04, helping lead the men to the 2003 NCAA West Region championship and the women to a CCAA North Division title in 2004. Athletic Director Anita Barker

An accomplished former professor and dean, California State University, Chico President Gayle Hutchinson returned to campus in June 2016 after working for three years as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at CSU, Channel Islands. She is Chico State÷s 15th president and the flrst female president in the University÷s 132-year history. Hutchinson built her career in higher education at Chico State, where she was hired in 1990 as a member of the Chico State faculty and taught kinesiology with a specialty in teacher preparation. She went on to serve as chair of the Department of Kinesiology from 2002–2007 and dean of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences from 2007–2013, and she participated in the prestigious American Council on Education Fellows program from 2005–2006. She was elected Academic Senate chair in 2006 and also served as statewide

senator from 2003—2005, and chaired the Diversity Scorecard Committee responsible for drafting the University÷s Diversity Action Plan. Prior to her service in the CSU, she served as the principal investigator and co-director of the Northern California Physical Education-Health Subject Matter Project, the project director for the Paciflc Wellness Center, and developed curriculum and taught physical education in elementary schools. Hutchinson÷s scholarship and grant writing focused on teacher socialization, social psychology of sport, comprehensive school-based wellness programs, and equity in sport and physical education. Hutchinson holds a bachelor÷s degree in physical education teacher education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; a master÷s degree in teaching analysis and curriculum development from Teachers College, Columbia University; and a doctorate in teacher education and staff development from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

University President Gayle Hutchinson

Anita Barker is in her 18th year as the athletic director for the University÷s 13 intercollegiate athletics teams. Barker has successfully worked to build on the prior success of the department and continues to focus on improving fundraising and marketing efforts to offer more athletic grant-in-aid to deserving student-athletes. She also served as president of the Division II Athletics Directors Association from 2012–14. Under Barker÷s guidance, 2018—19 produced another outstanding year for Chico State Athletics. The Wildcats claimed California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) titles in men÷s cross country, women÷s cross country, and men÷s track and fleld, with softball and women÷s soccer posting second place conference flnishes. The Chico State baseball and women÷s track and fleld programs netted third place CCAA flnishes as 10 teams advanced to

postseason competition over the course of the year. The Chico State men÷s cross country team won the NCAA West Regional title, while men÷s golf and men÷s track and fleld flnished No. 1 in the 2018—19 NCAA West Region rankings. With eight sports reaching the NCAA Championships, the Wildcats flnished 48th among all Division II schools in the flnal 2018—19 Learfleld Sports Directors÷ Cup standings. Chico State has flnished in the top flve of the Directors÷ Cup standings flve times since 2004—05, and in all but two years of that run has ranked among the top 10 percent of D-II athletic departments nationwide. With Barker leading the way, Chico State Athletics has been the recipient of flve CCAA Robert J. Hiegert Commissioners÷ Cups over the past decade. The award is presented to the conference÷s member institution with the best overall athletics performance during the academic year. Barker÷s efforts have resulted in several well-deserved individual honors, including National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Division II West Region Athletic Director of the Year awards in 2009 and again in 2019. Barker has worked in the athletics department since 1990, when she was hired as the assistant athletic trainer. She began working in athletics administration in 1995 when she was appointed the assistant athletic director and senior women÷s administrator. In 1997, she was promoted to associate athletic director. Barker graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1985 and received her master÷s degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1987. She has worked at all three divisions in the NCAA. Barker and her husband, Scott, the Wildcats÷ head athletic trainer, have two children, Luke and McKena“both former Chico State student-athletes.
