Chichester Lancastrian Boys School: The Great War Roll of Honour.

There does not appear to be any reference to the Great War in the Chichester Lancastrian

Boys School Minute Books 1903 -1927*1

, or the Head Teacher’s Log Book for 1907-1935*2

,

which could be considered strange. Recently a small photograph album was found in the loft

of a deceased member of staff, amongst family memorabilia, which did not contain pictures,

but a “Roll of Honour” for the 1914 / 1918 War*3

. This handwritten book, listed the names of

pupils and staff who had attended the school and had volunteered and enlisted, and in some

cases their rank, regiment and whether or not they had died during WW1. A transcript of that

book now follows:
