May 1st - International Workers Day is celebrat-ed worldwide. On this date in Chicago, during the 1886 General Strike, workers and immigrants fought and died fighting for better working condi-tions and an eight hour work day. To this day, the State, the rich ruling class, and street-level fascists are still attacking marginalized commu-nities and the working class. Several states are passing legislation to privatize public services and attack union collective bargaining rights, while other bills are being passed which encode racial profiling and attack immigrant communities. At the same time, Nazis, the Klan and other street-level white supremacists are spreading racial terror through vigilante border patrols, rallies and marches, and even attempted assassinations and bombings.

As the crisis of capitalism intensifies, it is becoming more and more necessary to orga-nize and take direct action against the forces that seek to dominate our lives and the planet. We hope the release of this issue will spark debate and inspire action to destroy all forms of oppression.

SOUTH SIDE ARA - ZINE #2MAY DAY EDITION

NEW JERSEY REPORTBACK: THE BATTLE OF PEMBERTON: ARA VS NSMThe National Socialist Movement (NSM), a group that tries to dance around the fact that they are Nazis while sporting swasti-kas on their uniforms and sieg heiling, had been planning to host their annual confer-ence along with a rally, redneck horse shoe and band spectacle for several months.

The dates were set for April 15th and 16th in Trenton, New Jersey. Of course we can assume they expected some unhappy spectators at the rally but what they didn’t predict was an all out battle that left 4 of their “SS security” force in the hospital with multiple staples. The NSM went through quite a bit of trouble keeping their event and sleeping locations private. This was nothing but a waste of time for the NSM considering the turncoats within their organization leaked the information to anti-fascists weeks in advance.

The 15th came around and a phone jam was put on both the hotel, where 50 or 60 of them stayed for the weekend(the Comfort Inn off 209 in Bordentown, NJ) and their conference location (the 449 club at 6 Pemberton Ave in Pemberton). Just as the confer-ence was about to begin 30 of us took the streets about 2 blocks away and marched in black bloc to the conference location. Within that time several people living and passing through the neighborhood began to stare from the cars and porches as we let them know Nazis were meeting in their town. One person, upon notification, parked his car and joined the bloc immediately, eager to confront the boneheads. By the time we arrived to demonstrate a few nazis from the NSM gathered outside of the conference space but within a few seconds about 30 or 40 of their fully SS uniformed security were out with chairs, thinking they were about to kick some antifa tail. After some exchanged words the NSM walked off the property to engage us. They wanted a brawl…and we defended ourselves successfully.

After a brutal rumble of evenly matched numbers the NSM quickly scurried back to the property with bashed skulls, bruised faces and damaged property, sending 4 boneheads to the hospital (2 of which may still remain there). At this point the cops had shown up and we managed to retreat with one comrade minorly injured and two arrested. It can be assumed that if the con-ference was not shut down completely, the talking they were doing had nothing to do with rank promotions and five year plans,

as it was supposed to. This was the part of the purpose of our demonstration; we are not trying to change their minds or tell them they have been bad little nazi sub-humans. We want to disempower them, leave them in fear and most importantly crush what they are trying to build. Not only did we win the physical battle by a mile, but given the goal at hand, they were completely defeat-ed. The conference was now minimized to a retreating space where the NSM would pout and discuss their defeat. According to some sources not only did some members of the NSM check into a different hotel, spending more money and fearing more attacks, but even the cops were laughing at how bad the nazis were beat and were quoted saying “ARA isn’t playing this weekend”, but then again, are we ever?

The next day, April 16th, it was time for the downtown rally in Trenton followed by the backyard concert on Jason Heickes’ property. Before the NSM showed for their hour long spectacle in which they gained no supporters whatsoever, not only were ARA, the new Black Panthers and other radical groups ready to confront the Nazis but the com-munity itself filled the streets with rage looking to clean house. The NSM was protected by several hundreds of cops, as you can expect, and because of this there really was no physical stand off aside from a few rocks hurled at their busses as they exited the city. This was a second victory for us since they gained absolutely nothing and no one out of the formality while we showed our numbers and that we were more then prepared for an-other round. After the Nazis left, one of our other enemies in the three way struggle, the cops, moved aggressively to force us out of the city, but not before a few folks smashed some Bank of America windows. These actions show that the rage against the fascists is not based out of a will to preserve the status quo or protect capitalism but rather a will to reclaim what is ours and to smash racism, fascism and all oppression and apparati of control. Since one of the band members from Zyklon B had his head split wide open in the melee and because it was raining we assume the outdoor concert on Heickes’ property was at the very least not what they expected bringing. Yet another victory for our side.

Some of the NSM were inside being treated for wounds to the head by the rocks, bricks and sticks. They were spraying mace and blinding our men. THE REJECTION OF THE IDENTITY OFVICTIMIZATION THROUGH CRACKINGA NAZI’S SKULL-by a bitch ass faggot

On Friday, April 15th, 2011 some anti-fascist in Anti-Racist Action learned of the location of the National Socialist Move-ment’s national conference for rank pro-motion and five-year planning. A group of 30 of us decided to march to where the Nazi’s were strongest, to bodily and boldly confront them, and we were decidedly vic-torious. After the the dust settled six Nazis were hospitalized, more were injured, their vehicles and property were damaged, and their conference was ended. On our side, one anti-fascist required moderate first aid.

Many of us at the melee were people of color, working class, immigrants, women, queer, transgendered, and/or people on parole or probation. The logic of the victim is constantly thrust upon us. We are said to be ‘at risk’ and must be protected and pandered to. It is said that we need others, usually the State, to protect and stand up for us. But, through the action of splitting Nazis’ heads open, we rejected the logic of victimization. We will continue to do so, we will be victims no longer. We do not need others to stand up for us, we have each other. When we are attacked, we will find each other and counterattack, so hard and so fierce that we will surprise even ourselves.

If the Nazis call us bitch ass faggots, they might not be that far off the mark. But if they conflate those slurs with weakness, the six hospital visits they faced would prove other-wise.

2011 HITLER BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION ATTACKED BY ANTI-FASCISTS

On Saturday April 16 2011 Illinois-area Nazis at-tempted to host their yearly Hitler Birthday Cel-ebration at the PJ Klems restaurant in Lyons, IL only to be attacked and shut down by Chicago-area anti-fascists. PJ Klems has hosted Hitler birthday celebrations in prior years and despite facing prior harassment the owners somehow thought it would be a good idea to host the event again. They were very wrong and now should think twice before attempting to host any similar gathering again.

Along with the bathrooms being flooded from sabotaged toilets, anti-fascists suc-cessfully set off large smoke bombs in the bathrooms forcing the restaurant - along with the Hitler birthday party - to shut down shortly after it began for the remainder of the day.

Calls to the restaurant confirmed that the owners knew that it was a Nazi gathering but defended their decision to host the event by making ignorant statements such as “we don’t discriminate against the types of events we host here, white people have every right to express their opinions”. Well actions have consequences and if you attempt to bring racist hate and nazi filth to our cities you should expect to get what’s coming to you.

The event was organized by long-time Nazi bonehead “Arthur Jones” (who also lives in Lyons, IL) as well as members of the rag-tag nazi group “Illinois United”. Ar-thur Jones has been around for decades in various hate-groups including “America First Committee” and Bill White’s “American National Socialist Worker’s Party”, has failed at numerous election attempts for political office, and has spoken at the 2009 and 2010 Hitler Birthday celebrations.

This was their first major gathering they attempted to hold in a long time, not being able to organize any “White Pride World Wide” event in 2011 after getting smashed in 2010, and having many of their members locked up or exposed as pedophiles. With prior gatherings the Nazis were bold enough to attempt to recruit people by posting flyers in public and on the internet but due to previous harassment and disruptions from Chicago anti-fascists they have been forced to keep their events private invite-only. Unfortunately for them no matter how hard they try to hide there is no escape from being exposed and confronted by fierce antifa resistance.

PRO CHOICE MILITANTS TAKE ON SCHEIDLER & THE PRO LIFE ACTION LEAGUEIn the early hours of December 1st, pro-choice militant feminists attacked the home of an anti-choice “patriarch” Joe Schiedler on the North Side of Chicago. The day fallow-ing the action news spread across Christian and Catholic news sites about the attack on the Scheidler’s even contacting the Obama Administration to do an investigation on this “hate crime” but still, while wanting to incarcerate them, offering up a whole lot of forgiveness. Isn’t it ironic that a few rocks being thrown through a couple windows grabs so much attention from their side while people who preform abortions, or even work in health clinics where they are preformed, have to wear bullet proof vests to work?

We stand in solidarity with the “crazy feminist bitches” who carried out this action and hope they continue their good work. Actions like these are but a taste of the resistance that will eventually overshadow the delusional anti-choicers who condone hit lists of abortion doctors (Nuremberg Files) but are astounded when their homes are attacked.

At a little after 2:00 AM on Thurs-day morning I awoke to the sound of breaking glass. My first thought was that a shelf must have fallen in the china cabinet. Then I heard it again. Joe and I got up and went downstairs to check out what had happened. We did not suspect anything particularly untoward. I didn’t have my contacts or glasses so I wasn’t seeing to clearly. Everything looked OK. We decided it must have been something outside, so we went back to bed.

Later in the morning when we were about to head to 7:30 Mass, Joe went out front to see if anything looked suspicious. At about the same time that he discovered shards of glass all over our front porch, I discovered a chunk of asphalt and lots of broken glass on the floor in the dining room.

A few minutes earlier I had noticed that the living room seemed a bit cold, but the windows are covered with lace shades so it wasn’t obvious that a window was bro-ken. After finding the dining room break, I checked again in the living room. Sure enough on the floor was a plastic bag with a piece of asphalt and a note in an en-velope.

Asphalt Accompanied by Cryptic WritingsI opened the envelope to find a message from a troubled woman (women). It start-ed: “We are crazy, feminists bitches….” Clearly it was time to call the police.

A very concerned Chicago police officer arrived shortly. He explained that it wasn’t technically a burglary because no one tried to break it, but since it wasn’t exactly a

random act of vandalism, it might fall into the category of a “hate crime.”

Now here I must confess that I do not believe in hate crimes. A crime is a crime. And chances are if you rob someone or hurt him or throw a brick through his window, you probably don’t like him. I don’t think we need layers of crimes with special labels to try to keep order.

It turns out, however, that the “hate crime” label does not fit this particular crime. The explanation? The perpe-trator didn’t hate us. She just hated what we stand for. Rather a subtle difference it seems to me. The up-shot is there won’t be much investi-gation unless it happens again.

Fortunately while the police officer was still at our house, a handy man pulled up. He was there to fix a door. I asked him if he was pretty good at windows too and he set about to replace the broken panes and get the storm window re-paired.

Deathscort Training Session Same Night. Coincidence?A few hours after the police report had been made, I recalled that the Illinois Choice Action Team (ICAT) had scheduled a training session for clinic escorts to work at Al-bany clinic where we regularly pray and counsel. The training was held about twenty minutes from our house. Did the ICAT announce our home address to the recruits, or did they come away from the training session in such a frenzy to stop pro-lifers that they decided to pay a visit to the Scheidlers? Who knows.

I called the police station to give them the new piece of information, but the officer on duty thought it was irrelevant because there would be no way to prove that someone from the training was the brick thrower. True, but it certainly seems likely.

A brick through your window is a pretty small price to pay for your beliefs. But there’s no guarantee that that’s where it stops. We are blessed that so many people pray for us on a regular basis. And we have received many calls from pro-life friends with assurance of their prayers. That’s why we aren’t especially unnerved by this act of vandal-ism. And that’s why we will pray for the post-abortive women who paid us a visit and tossed a couple of bricks. Maybe no one else is praying for them. I hope you’ll join us.

ANTI-CHOICER’S CARS ATTACKED AT SCHEIDLER’S APPRECIATION CEREMONY On April 2nd, Monica Miller, executive director of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society (and a long-time friend of the Scheidlers), held a tribute to pro-life chauvinist and martyr Joe Schiedler, bringing a number of religious zealots and fundamentalist wingnuts together at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza just northwest of Chicago’s Loop. On the night of April 2nd, shortly after the pro choice demo against Joe Scheidler, another attack from pro-choice militants was carried out against him and his follow-ers. Three cars of pro-life activists had their tires slashed. It’s only been a few months since two of Scheidlers front windows of his home were attacked with chunks of asphault than contained “cryptic” messages denouncing Scheidlers sexist bullshit. Aside from wanting Joe to remove that Indiana Jones ass lookin hat, we hope, and will see to it, that his punk-ass receives constant and aggressive confrontation until he quits the ridiculous anti-choice bullshit. Him, his heinous looking son and his children of the corn-like followers. Those who attempt to take away ones freedom deserve it not for themselves.

AFTAH, Illinois’s leading homophobic organization, has been the target of numerous protests organized by the Gay Lib-eration Network including their November 13th annual ban-quet and the opening day of their homophobic classes at the “Christian Liberty Academy” in Arlington Heights

In contrast to many on the far right such as Rev. Rick War-ren, AFTAH’s Executive Director Peter LaBarbera is such an unreconstructed hater of LGBT people that he remains one of the few who still publicly support Uganda’s notorious “kill the gays” bill. AFTAH so regularly slanders LGBT people that the Southern Poverty Law Center recently labeled it a “hate group” along with neo-fascists and other haters. Unfortunately AFTAH is not just a fringe joke group like Fred Phelps of “God Hates Fags” infamy. AFTAH has led two failed attempts to get anti-gay referenda on the Illinois state ballot and closely allies itself with Republican candidates like immigrant-hater Jim Oberweis.

CHICAGO ANTI-FASCISTS ATTACKNAZI SYMPATHIZING “SECRETS”On August 22nd around 2pm Chicago anti-fascists gathered in front of secrets to pro-test Suzy M Lenner, a member of the Na-tional Socialist movement, and the store itself for not only employing the known Neo Nazi but for actively trying to cover up her racist, sexist, genocidal politics.

The antifascists distributed fliers to people in the area before being approached by two secrets employees and a man claim-ing to be the owner. The first employee, who admitted not only to Suzy working there but also to the fact that Secrets knows she’s a Nazi, asked us to not stand in front of the store and stated “yall do your thing why can’t she do hers” and “I’ve seen her be nice to black people at work”. The second employee who came out was a bit more hostile and tried to deny her working there even though the first employee openly admitted to it. Shortly after, a guy who claimed to be the owner came out of a taxi, ripped fliers from Protesters hands and began screaming in peoples faces in a fit of rage. Just seconds after his arrival the second employee, the owner and the store itself were pelted with a barrage of eggs leaving them even angrier than before. Once again all the antifa man-aged to make a clean get away just before police arrived.

It is time to bring forth a vision and concrete tools to challenge the politics of scapegoating and austerity that conceal the root causes of the current social, political and economic crisis.

Liberation Square – March 10, Union Park!!The ongoing criminalization of immigrants is part of a global economic system that finds profit in the incarceration, displacement, and repression of millions across the globe. Liberation Square, modeled on the revolutionary community that sprung up during the Egyptian revolution, is a call to “cross borders” between struggles, between divided communities and between forced political identities. Because in a system of laws that are stacked against us, we are all becoming undocumented, exploitable – from those internally displaced to communities facing mass incarceration, from criminalized dissenters to AWOL soldiers. The struggle cannot be merely a fight for “papers”, for we are fighting the perpetuation of the same system that makes us all increasigly illegiti-mate: it is a fight for justice beyond all borders !!!

Here in Chicago, our unity is a microcosm of the larger interconnected struggles hap-pening around the world. And the fights we must face together at home – against the recently introduced anti-immigrant bill in the Illinois General Assembly and a mayor with an agenda of privatization – reflect the larger ones we face as a society.

“THE MINUTEMEN” FILM CREW MET WITH PROTESTS, EGGINGS & A SHIT-FILLED PIE AT CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTA new anti-immigrant propaganda film “The Minutemen” is touring the country in an at-tempt to legitimize the racist violence perpet-uated by gun-toting vigilante border patrols. The movie has managed to sneak itself into several film fests and even won a few awards including “Best Documentary” and “Grand Jury Award” at the Brooklyn Film Festival. Disturbingly the film has managed to screen at the Chicago International Film Festival where it also won the “Silver Hugo” award.

The film spotlights the work of the Mountain-top Minutemen led by racist Robert “Lil Dog” Crooks who arms his followers and stalks the US-California border. The Mountaintop Min-utemen were in the news in 2007 for releas-ing a disturbing film showing the shooting of a Mexican immigrant inside the US border.

The screening took place on October 15-16 and Robert Crooks himself was invited to come speak along with producer Nicholas Weissman and director Corey Wascinski (obvious min-utemen sympathizers). Although we only had a day notice to prepare for the event, we were able to demonstrate strong opposition to the film in a number of ways.

On the 15th, about ten protesters met Robert Crooks outside the theatre with chants of “No Nazis No KKK No Fascist USA” while holding a banner that said “World Without Borders” while dozens of festival attendees, curious bystanders and security observed. Robert Crooks wasn’t hard to spot in full body camoflauge fatigues as he arrogantly taunted the crowd. Later after Crooks had several drinks at the bar, he was slammed with eggs as he was trying to leave the festival.

The film screened again the next day at the same time as protesters marched just a few blocks away on Michigan Avenue for the Midwest Regional Anti-war action. After the march ended, folks headed to the theatre to once again greet the film crew with protest. This time around, we acquired several tickets from a sympathetic festival employee and was able to sneak several subversives inside. As the Q & A session started after the film, several people were able to disrupt Robert Crooks with shouts of “Racist Pig!” to Crooks and the film crew, bringing the screening to an abrupt end as security shut down the Q & A session while strug-gling to escort protesters outside.

If we had more advance notice of the screening we would have utilized more effective ways to shut down the event if we were not able to convince the Chicago International Film Festival the pull the offensive film entirely.

However, antifas were able to confont one of the three people who spoke on behalf of the film. “The Minutemen” producer Nicholas Weissman thought he was going to be giving an inter-view about the film to a local newspaper, but instead he screamed in surprise as a pie filled with dog shit was brutally driven into his face: a reminder of what to expect if you attempt to bring racist propaganda to Chicago. Folks are encouraged to call Nicholas Weissman on his cellphone at 818-219-0111 asking him how he enjoyed his just desserts.

SOUTH SIDE CHICAGO ARA REPORTBACK ON JULY 31ST DAY OF ACTIONChicago-area anti-racist organizations came together for the July 31st Day of Action Against Racism and Fascism, organizing a variety of actions and events.

During the day, South Side Chicago ARA hosted a meet-and-greet barbecue event with like-minded anti-racists. We ate awesome vegan food, played games, and distributed literature. In attendance were members from Bring The Ruckus, North Side ARA, Four Star An-archist Organization, Iowa City’s Wild Rose Collective, and a handful of other anti-racists and antifas. After the barbecue, folks supported a local punk show benefit-ting Anarchist People of Color (APOC) and tabled with literature and an updated “Know Your Illinois Nazis” posters.

Additionally, we released detailed personal information on several Illinois area nazis in-cluding members of the National Socialist Movement(NSM) and “White Boy Society”, reminding them that they will no longer be able to organize and spread their hate in secrecy. In the week prior to the 31st, we also flyered the neighborhoods of several nazi scum to inform their neighbors of their involvement in hate groups.

On July 29th, members of ARA participated in a national day of action against SB1070 and rallied at Cook County Jail, where hundreds gathered to demand a moratorium on deportations. Cook County Jail has frequently been found violating prisoner’s human and civil rights resulting in numerous lawsuits and criminal investigations, and is also the major place in Chicago where ICE and local police collaborate to deport immigrants using “immigrant holds“.

Other Chicago revolutionary groups participated in the July 31st Day of Action by orga-nizing several actions throughout the day. In the morning, members of Four Star Anar-chist Organization distributed flyers and spoke with community members near the CVS at 26th and Pulaski where Anthony Kyser, an unemployed person of color and father, was murdered by the hands of a CVS manager for stealing crayons and toothpaste while a Cook County Jail Correctional Officer (CO) pointed a gun at Kyser. In the evening, members from Bring The Ruckus flyered Rogers Park informing neighbors about Soren Renner, a white supremacist who lives in the area and actually spotted and confronted the creep while he was slinking around the Heartland Cafe.

Finally, we also released a zine documenting much of the work we’ve done over past year. We hope that this publication will start a larger discussion in strategizing ways we can more effectively combat all forms of oppression in our city.

We are satisfied about how folks came together in Chicago for the Day of Action – both taking the offensive against known white supremacists while also organizing against broader forms of racist injustice in society. We are also excited to hear reports coming in from other ARA chapters about how their actions went . We expect great things through-out the year.

Yet nearly two years into the Obama adminis-tration, the occupation in Iraq continues, with more private military contractors taking the place of departing soldiers and the world’s largest embassy set to squat in the heart of Baghdad.

The “peace president” has dramatically escalated the Afghanistan invasion ? at nine years, America’s longest war. He’s spread war into Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia. He’s supported a brutal coup in Honduras, is building threatening new U.S. military bases in Colombia, and ignores Israel’s war crimes against the Palestinians and those seeking to aid them.

The Bush-era attacks on civil liberties have if anything escalated, with Obama push-ing for an even more powerful and unaccountable executive branch, assassinating people abroad at a far greater rate, and increasing the deportations of undocu-mented immigrants by more than 50%.

Yet while the economy continues to stumble, with ever-higher foreclosure rates, stagnate wages and persistent unemployment, the income gap between the rich and the rest of us gets ever wider. Adding insult to injury, President Obama has pledged a domestic spending freeze at the same time that he’s brought U.S. military spending to its highest level ever. 57% of the federal budget is spent on war.

The October 16th protest will begin with a short 12:30 PM rally in the heart of Chi-cago’s downtown – Michigan Avenue and Congress Parkway – followed by a march on Chicago’s busiest thoroughfares.

TIPS FOR ANTI-FASCIST STREET BATTLES1.) Preparing in Advance• After receiving intel on a march, meeting, or show where fascists are gathering it is standard and highly recommended to case(check out) the terrain you will be battling on ahead of time. If the event is a great distance away and the trip can only be made once you can use Internet resources such as google maps to potentially find pictures of the terrain. • Discuss tactics. Best route of action, back up plans, escape routes, all possible mis-fortunes, roles/duties(scouts, strikers etc.), decide buddies(see #2) emergency contacts and a little saved money if possible.• When discussing roles, be open and realistic about your comfort zone. Being a striker and not following through can result in a comrade’s loss.• Weaponry. If you feel you must bring weapons, take ones that are legal and preferably unconventional; rocks, u-locks, heavy water canteens etc (be creative). Large numbers and training is always the best weapon.• Train. Regular self-defense training will not only make you more fit for battle but is a good tool for building camaraderie with your crew. Having a steady and reliable group of people you consistently work and train with is highly recommended. • When recruiting members for your crew, shoot for someone street or common sense smart and dedicated individuals not any old tough guy/girl. It is easier to teach someone smart how to fight then it is to teach some idiot who can fight how to be smart.

2.) Fight smart, not strong• Safety in numbers: 2-1 is good, 3-1 is better. We must always have a numbers advan-tage in order to prevent a loss on our side. Anti-fascism isn’t won by being the toughest its about being smart and prepared. The fascists don’t understand this and that is why they almost always lose. A death or loss on our side is rare and can be detrimental to our movement. The murder of LA anti-racists Dan and Spit set our network back and can destroy a local chapter. It’s not about being tough enough to fight, it’s about winning. We must always win so choose your battles where you have the advantage every time.• Element of surprise. Getting the jump on someone when they don’t expect it gives you the advantage, especially when you are dealing with someone who is more physi-cally equipped. Not to mention you have prepared for the battle and they may not have. Never let the enemy know when and how you will strike.• Buddy system. Travel in groups of two. Have a buddy and don’t leave each other behind.• Separate and blend in. Don’t walk in a group of 20 unless it’s for intimidation or of course if the time calls for it. Split up in blend in to your environment.• Be tactical when choosing clothing. Black bloc in mid day with a cadre of 5..not a smart idea. Consider plain clothes(work clothes, jogging outfits, etc) upon plain clothes. This will allow you to sneak on your opponent, scout better and escape. The changed clothes will allow you to not

be identified and and allow you to casually walk away.In my experience looking normal and acting casual works a hell of a lot better than running in black bloc attire. • Have enough money to take public transportation, taxi or whatever home in case you get separated.• Don’t have illegal substances that may worsen your legal situation if you are arrested.• Hit and retreat. Self explanatory. Make your move, make it good, and back out. Don’t get greedy. Get out of sight fast, disrobe and act natural.• Never leave a comrade behind.

3.) In case of arrest• Be prepared ahead of time. Have some cash on hand available for emergency bail funds. Develop a relationship with a lawyer.• Before an action, review and dis-cuss all potential charges you’re facing if caught so there are no sur-prises and everybody understands and is prepared to take the risk.• If arrested, do not give any ver-bal or written statements, agree to be interviewed, or sign anything. If everyone keeps their mouth shut, everyone may go home. The magic words are “I have nothing to say, I want to see my lawyer”.• Have people not involved with the action on call who can be notified if something goes wrong or will know if something is up because no one is making it back in time or is responding to phone calls. Understand basic legal support roles including raising money to post bail and calling the local precincts or look online to locate where people are being held and what charges they are facing.

4.) Post action • Keeping a scout nearby to observe what happened afterwards is beneficial. Especially to see if cops got involved or where they retreat to.• No need to brag. keep your lips sealed outside of discussing successes and failures with your comrades.• Be sincere about your mistakes.fascists will always lie about there losses and it doesn’t do anything to prevent it from happening again. Don’t feel the need to let the world know they are lying, anyone with experience can see through the b.s. and more importantly, they know the truth.• If they admit defeat they will always exaggerate our numbers. Fascists focus on strength and muscle and although they will fabricate that they won the street battle, they will of-ten give us credit unknowingly in other areas: Infiltrating them, setting them up, being well prepared and well organized etc. As long as they can say they won the physical, they think its good propaganda. They are also into the martyrdom so they may state the names of the comrades who got rocked and allow you to further your Intel

INSF COLLAPSES AFTER LEADERSHIPEXPOSED AS KNOWN PEDOPHILEDoes anyone remember that white nation-alist group out of Peoria, Illinois calling themselves the Illinois National Socialist Front (INSF)? Formed from the ashes of the American National Socialist Workers’ Party (ANSWP) which was founded by now-imprisoned Bill White after he was excommunicated from the National So-cialist Movement (NSM), they were once the talk of the white nationalist move-ment in Illinois: a promising group holding monthly meet-and-greet barbecue events, distributing literature, organizing protests, and even putting pro-white messages in childrens’ easter eggs.

Their “success” seemed unchallenged un-til South Side Chicago ARA came into the picture. With face to face beat downs, mul-tiple infiltrations of their ranks, and public humiliation at their attempted 2010 White Pride march where four nazis from different white nationalist organizations were beaten and arrested, they have been relatively quiet since. After suffering utter defeat they stopped organizing any public events or updating their website, in constant fear of fierce antifa retribution. It is now known that the INSF have disbanded.

Creativity Movement failure James Logsdon (101 Tanner St, Bloomington, IL 61701) gave a more disturbing explanation for the collapse of the INSF: one of their main or-ganizers was discovered to be a convicted pedophile. It has been confirmed that Steve Turpel of the Arlington Heights INSF was imprisoned for kidnapping, rape, and child pornography. After his initial arrest, several other victims came forward detailing Steve’s abuse stretching several years, and when Steve’s house was raided, a large cache of guns and ammunition were found. Steve was surprisingly acquitted of the rape charges despite community outrage and after his sentence he was back on the streets with “Il-linois United” and the INSF organizing barbecue events at his house where he currently lives at 1308 W Northwest Hwy, Arlington Heights, IL 60005. Especially disturbing when teens go to events like an INSF barbeque or the Mokena Fest, or the 2009 St Patricks Day Parade to be recruited by the likes of Steve Turpel, who probably shouldn’t be hang-ing out with children at all.

Phil Anderson and other INSF members tried to keep this information about one of their leaders a secret, even from other white supremacist organizations. Maybe because Steve Turpel’s history is as disturbing and discrediting to the nazi movement as Bill Riccio, Andrew Hengel, Levi Dale Lucas, or John Snyder. Or maybe the fact that kidnap-pers, rapists, and child molesters are attracted to their movement reveals the blatant contradictions of their supposed racial superiority.

With the collapse of the INSF, James Logsdon is attempting to fill the void by holding several failed meet-and-greet barbecue recruitment events – including their most recent plans for a cross / nazi swastika burning held by Ron Ruhl and Eli James on November 7th near the border of Indiana and Michigan which never ended up happening because their members flaked out. But with all of Logsdon’s trash talking of the INSF as being pedophile apologists, it seems Logsdon himself is unable to come to terms with similar allegations with members of his own group. Joel Dufresne, a leading Creativity Move-ment member, was arrested in 2006 for kidnapping and raping the mother of his son Hale (named after imprisoned WCOTC leader Matt Hale). While Logsdon claims to be one of the few able to stand up to Turpel, he has continuously defended Dufresne.

This hasn’t been a good year for the “Reverend” and friends: after having his front teeth knocked out during his second prison sentence, his Creativity friend Brian Moudry (304 S. Reed St Joliet, IL) was arrested in Joliet after wildly waving guns and threatening peo-ple, his friend Brother Marshal in the Washington Creators was exposed to be a police informant, and most of his former friends in the World Church of the Creator turned on him and started splinter group Creativity Alliance. No wonder many in what is left of the Creativity Movement is calling into question Logsdon’s leadership and want imprisoned Matt Hale to be once again officially recognized as Pontifus Maximus.

And we haven’t forgotten about the handful of NSM members in Chicago – NSM Matt, Susan Lenner, Michael Schloer, and others who also attended a few INSF events. They are also feeling the heat being confronted – at their jobs, schools, and at their homes.

While internal and external blows coupled with their own idiocy has left Illinois Nazis highly ineffective and discreditable, things on our side of the fence are looking good. One year later South Side ARA and comrades are hard at work and are still organizing, smashing fascism in the streets. While we have clearly won the war between us and the INSF, the larger struggle against fascism and racist oppression is an uphill battle that we are determined to fight and win.

CREATIVITY MOVEMENT LEADER BRIAN MOUDRY ARRESTED FOR WAVINGWEAPONS AT CHILDRENJust a month after threatening a black postal carrier, local Creativity Movement member Brian Moudry was arrested for waving a weapon at a kid outside his home at 304 S. Reed St in Joliet, IL. Moudry also plays, or played, guitar and vocals in National Socialist black metal(nsbm) band Xenophobia under the Alias warhead jew-driver. One People’s Project reports:

As one Nazi dies, another takes his place – on Ye Olde Chopping Block. We reported a few weeks ago that one of the Creativity Movement’s lu-minaries Brian Moudry was being investigated for threatening a black postal worker because he wasn’t re-ceiving his mail. Well now the US Postal Service can forward his mail to his new address at the county jail. This comes because on Sunday the Creatard decided he would threaten someone else – this time a boy in his neighborhood with a gun. The cops didn’t get him on the threat to the postal worker, but they told him to knock this crap off. Well not only he didn’t, but he acted like the bonehead he was when police came to question him about this latest threat. They stayed for 90 minutes, said screw it, came back with an arrest warrant on Monday and took him away. A search of his home turned up a BB gun. Creatards. They never seem to fail in the comedy. Never.

White supremacist arrested

JOLIET — A white supremacist leader has been arrested after allegedly threatening a boy with a weapon . Neighbors told police they saw Brian J. Moudry, 33, run at 8 p.m. Sunday into the road in front of his house at 304 S. Reed St.

“He was holding (what looked like) a silver handgun and yelling at someone who had just ridden near his residence,” Chief Fred Hayes said. Witnesses were unable to describe the ethnicity of the boy, who fled from the armed man.

“Mr. Moudry was standing outside the doorway when officers arrived, but went in-side and refused to exit the house or talk to them,” Hayes said. “As police estab-lished a perimeter, the subject began yelling statements about white supremacy from inside.”

Moudry had claimed to be the local leader of the Creativity Movement, a white supremacist group.

Police remained at the scene until around 9:30 p.m. Sunday before de-termining Moudry was not going to shoot anyone from inside his home.

“We obtained an arrest warrant for un-lawful use of a weapon and took him into custody around noon Monday,” Lt. Brian Dupuis said.

Moudry allowed police to search his home. “We found the remnants of a silver bb gun inside that matched the description of the weapon witnesses saw him with,” Dupuis said.

Bomb allegations: On July 17, Moudry reportedly threatened to bomb a mail truck after having trouble restarting his mail delivery. Moudry was questioned by federal postal inspectors. No criminal charges were filed, but he was “encouraged to be-have,” reports said.

ANDREW JACKSON OF THE INSF BEHIND BARS FOR ATTEMPTED HOME INVASIONLast we heard from Andrew Jackson(left), he was getting arrested in Chicago after getting his ass kicked to the ground by antifa while his once respected leader Phil Anderson (804 E Marietta Ave / Peo-ria Heights) watched in awe. Since then it doesn’t seem things have gotten much better for him. Two weeks after that arrest and beat down he was arrested for an at-tempted home invasion/cause injury. We don’t know what the story behind this is but we do know that he has been sitting be-hind bars since March 4th of 2011 in Stan-ton, IL at the Illinois River correctional and isn’t set for parole until January of 2012. So lets get this straight; one year after hav-ing his ass beat along with Phil, not only is he sitting behind bars but his crew, the Illinois National Socialist Front(INSF), have broken up after the backbone of their organization, Steven Turpel, turned out to be a kidnapping, child porn loving, pedophile. Maybe white nationalism hasn’t been the best route for this bonehead from Peoria. If he decides to stick with it after being released from Prison, his life is only going to continue to suck.

NEO NAZI MARIUSZ WDZIEKONSKI SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARSMariusz Wdziekonski(7800 block of Lawrence Ave in Norridge), an alleged member of the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement, was arrested in 2008 for vandalizing 67 graves of Jewish men and women interred in Westlawn Cemetery in Norridge, Illinois. Convicted earlier this month, he received a 7 year sentence to be carried out at Stateville prison in Joliet. While ARA is glad to see one less white supremacist roaming the streets, we recognize the failures of the prison industrial complex, a system that sweeps prob-lems under the rug without healing the damages caused to our communities.

A Norridge man found guilty of a hate crime for spraying anti-Semitic graffiti on dozens of grave markers at a Jewish cemetery has been sentenced to seven years — the maxi-mum penalty permitted by law.

Judge Larry Axelrood called Mariusz Wdziekonski, 25, “a bigot” before sentencing him today. “You have this warped idea that you’re going to be a hero to these other bigots and white supremacists,” Axelrood said. “You wanted to inflict your hatred. You wanted to inflict your pain. You brought shame to your family.” Wdziekonski did not speak during his sentencing at the Skok-ie branch courthouse.

Wdziekonski was convicted of spray-painting anti-Semitic epithets and neo-Nazi and white supremacist hate symbols on 67 headstones in Westlawn Cemetery in January 2008. One grave marker was spray-painted with a noose with a Jewish Star of David dangling from it, authorities said.

Wdziekonski, a Polish national, was arrested in February 2008. Investigators at the time said he was a member of the National Socialist Movement, which the Anti Defamation League has called the largest and most active neo-Nazi group in the United States.After his arrest, investigators found pictures of Wdziekonski dressed as a German storm trooper and said he was fascinated with Nazi history and culture, Assistant State’s Attorney Lauren Brown said.

Held on $250,000 bond since his arrest, Wdziekonski has already been imprisoned for almost three years and could therefore be eligible for early release in a few months. Prosecutors said he could be deported to Poland.

Wdziekonski testified in his own defense during the 2 ½-day trial. He denied being a neo-Nazi or white supremacist and said he was simply a collector of Nazi memora-bilia. Axelrood said that while the U.S. is a free country where people are allowed to have hateful beliefs, they cannot act on them. “You can keep you beliefs,” the judge told Wdziekonski, “and you can take them to the penitentiary.”

“It is a hate crime because he doesn’t like a single group of people,” Brown said. “I can’t imagine anything that could be worse…especially to the Jewish community. He

Rumor has it he received the boot because he was giving C-18 tattoos to non-members, making C-18 more public than they want-ed by making business cards, jokxxxing about having sex with children, talking trash about other local nazis, and most impor-tantly, providing us(ssARA) with intel on people within his own movement(thanks again). According to John Alexander of C-18, Langballe was also caught smoking weed with a person of color(apparently a horrible crime in the WN world). These are things that lead to his own comrades thinking that he is one loose cannon who can’t be trusted. Authorities said Langballe smashed the front door of the BP gas station, 901 Lake Ave., and stole instant lottery tickets at 1:15 a.m. on Nov. 1.“He was identified off a video surveillance,” said Wilmette Police Sgt. Kyle Murphy. “We knew it was him. It was a matter of locating him.”Langballe agreed to come into the Wilmette Police Department, where he was ques-tioned and later charged, Murphy said. He allegedly stole 70 instant lottery tickets valued at $500, Murphy said.“There were some winners,” Murphy said. “But he didn’t successfully cash them in.”Bond was set Dec. 6 and Langballe was given a Dec. 20 court date at Skokie court-house. Langballe could not be reached for comment.

YELLOW CAB FINALLY REMOVES ISLAMO-PHOBIC TAXI CAB ADSThe racist organization “Stop Islamization of America”, which describes itself as a “hu-man rights group”, attempted to spread Islamophobia in Chicago by placing ads with Yellow Cab but eventually the company buckled under community outrage and had the ads removed:

A series of controversial ads targeting Is-lam will be removed from a fleet of Yellow Cab taxis.

The ads were sponsored by a group called “Stop Islamization of America,” which claims the U.S. is under attack by Islamic law, reports the Chicago Tribune. The group is also a strong opponent of plans to build a mosque near Ground Zero in New York City.

Some of the ads, which appeared on about two-dozen cabs, show women who were allegedly killed by their Muslim fathers for not agreeing to enter into forced marriages. Next to these images is the question: “Is your family threatening you.”

Pamela Geller, leader of Stop Islamization of America, has been quoted as say-ing Muslims are increasingly taking over schools and other institutions in America. Geller said the ads were directed at “Muslim girls in trouble, living in fear of their lives, struggling to find resources to help,” she told the paper.

Yellow Cab CEO Michael Levine had the signs removed because he said they were offensive to the city’s Muslim taxi drivers, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The ads come at a time when Muslims are fighting to build a mosque near Ground Zero in New York City. While President Obama has show support for the plan, Gov-ernor Pat Quinn came out against it last week.

Levin says a fleet of independent Yellow Cabs carried the ads. The owner of that fleet was paid by an advertising company to display them on top of the taxis. Three weeks ago Levin says he called the company to have the ads removed. Yellow Cab was told they were taken down, but according to the Chicago Tribune three ads are still running.

“They will be removed,” Levine told the Tribune. “Yellow Cab does not regularly ap-prove advertising content carried by our affiliates, but we do reserve the right to ask them to remove ads that offend either the drivers or the public.”

This comes just a few weeks later after anti-Muslim sentiments in NYC boils over to the point of cab drivers being assaulted.

RACIST GLENN BECK SPEAKING AT RIGHT-WING HATE FEST “RIGHT NATIONToday on September 18th, notorious racist Glenn Beck is “taking it to Obama’s backyard” by speaking to thou-sands of other right-wing extremists at “Right Nation 2010″ at the Sears Stadium in Chicago suburb Hoffman Estates. This national event organized by such groups as FreedomWorks, United Republican Fund and Ameri-cans for Prosperity. It is also sponsored by dozens of Il-linois Tea Party groups, several Republican congressio-nal candidates, TV/radio show hosts and musicians and is expected to draw tens of thousands of flag-waving idiots from across the country.

Other Illinois Tea Party groups have been active lately, organizing several events including a September 12th “Freedom Fest” rally in Morton Grove and a September 15th tea party rally in Joliet each drawing hundreds of people. We have previously con-fronted racism in the tea party movement at the April 15th Tax Day Tea Party rally where we kicked out Soren Renner, the type of nazi trash the tea party movement attracts.

This is Beck’s first major public appearance since he spoke in DC at a rally called “Re-storing Honor” on the same day as MLK’s “I Have A Dream” speech in an attempt to appropriate the civil rights struggle. Although Beck initially claimed the date was a coin-cidence, he has frequently claimed him and his conservative allies to be “the inheritors and the protectors of the civil rights movement” and that the scheduling coincidence is “divine providence” – God’s way of saying he is following in MLK’s footsteps. But Beck is anything but a pioneer of the civil rights movement and is more symbolic of the rise of the fascist right. He frequently criticizes “big government” and uses vague populist rhetoric but he is very much a supporter of the status-quo and the institutionalized racism that the civil rights movement fought against. This can be seen in his constant xenophobic rhetoric and quest for “white rights” in a society rooted in white supremacy.

Other more blatant examples of Beck’s racism include the time that he called Hurricane Katrina survivors “scumbags”, calling Cinco de Mayo a “mexican beer holiday”, calling the health care bill Obama’s idea of “reparations”, defending the Constitution’s original claim to African Americans being three-fifths of a human, the time he called Obama a racist, and many more. Beck is also not surprisingly very popular amongst neo-nazis, and Beck even once added a stormfront.org post (the largest white supremacist forum) to his twitter favorites. And for the August 28th rally, his tea party assistant Bruce Majors published a visitor’s guide advising people to avoid “sketchy” neighborhoods and train lines and “how to deal with African immigrants”.

Glenn Beck, however, is not just one bad apple. The tea party and right-wing movement as a whole embraces these same racist tendencies and their intent to spread their hate through gatherings like “Restoring Honor” and “Right Nation 2010″ under the guise of freedom and democracy must be confronted every step of the way. We must continue to point out the contradictions and hypocrisies in their reactionary ideology and expose them for what they really are; wolves in sheep’s clothing.

After a series of failures, they’ve crawled back under whatever rock they came from, having been reduced to a handful of sparsely-attended private barbecue events, where the main event is a drunken sob-session about the mean folks of Chicago ARA.

Every once in a while, some new boneheads appear on the scene mistakenly thinking that this might be a city receptive to some white supremacist hatred. Brian’s public life is well-known, but his private life has an ugly side: Brian Lloyd Chris-tian is a white supremacist. He actively posts under the alias “WhiteMuser” on neo-nazi website Stormfront.org, the world’s largest online white nationalist community. Brian was active in Baltimore and has tried to continue white supremacist activity since he moved to Chicago. Quoting from some of his Stormfront.org posts, “Hi, I’m also in the northern Chicago metro area and I’m looking to join a WN(white nationalist) group, especially Klan(as in the Klu Klux Klan or KKK). I’m interested in community building and activ-ism”. It’s bad enough he wants to be a Klansmen, but he wants to be an armed one at that: “I’ve only fired a .22 rifle, not a handgun. I’ve been doing some research – I know I want a glock because I like the safety mechanism” (from a stormfront post November 08). Brian also has a post in thread titled, “ideal careers for a white nationalist,” in which he said it would be nice to work with David Duke, a former grand Wizard of the KKK and world famous white supremacist. Brian has 121 other posts on Stormfront and has been recently trying to start a “European Americans United” (EAU) chapter in Rogers Park, a group that “educates people on anti white double standards” in the fight for “white rights”. Something tells us Brian hasn’t been doing too well as of late.

We urge anti-racists and anti-fascists to do their best to give him hell and drive him out of town. Whether it be through his job, at his performances, in his neighborhood or on the street, he should be exposed and confronted.

Update 4/26/2011: We have received confirmation that after being physically con-fronted and having his racist activities exposed before a Heartland Cafe perfor-mance, Brian’s employers Opera On Tap has decided to let him go. Opera On Tap released a statement saying they were not aware of Brian’s racist activities and do not discriminate. He is still teaching music to children at Faith Community Church.

Reynolds said he has been asked to tell his account to both local and state authori-ties investigating the case. Haley confirmed that Reynolds came to the police de-partment March 18 to discuss the incident. Haley said he advised Reynolds that the investigation had been turned over to the State Police.

Reynolds, a former football player, told the Post-Dispatch that he stood near Snid-er inside the Anchor Inn. After two bumps to his shoulder, Reynolds turned to the state trooper and “asked what his problem was, because that’s the second time he bumped into me,” Reynolds said.

Snider grabbed the student’s shoulder and called him “the N-word” and other derog-atory names, Reynolds said. When Reynolds attempted to remove Snider’s hand from his shoulder, the trooper responded with a shove, Reynolds said, which pro-voked him to throw a punch. Reynolds said he was asked to leave the bar before police arrived, an allegation that Anchor Inn owners and employees declined to discuss. “I was defending myself,” Reynolds said.

Snider’s responsibilities with Quinn’s Executive Protection Unit included the super-vision of officers, scheduling, routes and movements while Quinn traveled in the southern parts of the state. He earned more than $131,000 annually.

ILLINOIS STATE TROOPER AND POLITI-CIAN BEATEN ON ST. PATRICKS DAY FOR MAKING RACIST COMMENTSKenneth D. Snider, an Illinois State Trooper, Carlinville school board member, MaCoupin County democrat, and former security chief for Governor Patrick Quinn, was attacked on St. Patricks Day for making racist comments at a local Carlinville bar. The media is being slow to acknowledge the racial element, but according to witnesses and dozens of internet postings, the story goes like this: when a black student from nearby Blackburn college entered the Anchor Inn, Ken started making racial slurs including, “What’s a ****** doing in a white man’s bar?” The policeman was next seen leaving the bar bruised and bleeding. Ken Snider has since resigned from all official positions while an “internal investigation” is underway, but few official details have been released.

Racial slur led to fight with Illinois trooper, student says

CARLINVILLE – The politically connected head of Gov. Pat Quinn’s Southern Illinois security detail used a racial slur against a black college student in a Carlinville bar, starting a fight that preceded the officer’s resignation, the student says.

Blackburn College senior Bryan Reynolds, 22, said in an interview that the epithet from state Trooper Ken Snider “started the … well, I wouldn’t call it a ‘brawl,’ but I guess the fight.”

Reynolds’ account of the St. Patrick’s Day fight in the small community south of Springfield raises new issues around Snider’s sudden resignation the next day. Snider, one of Quinn’s top security people and a well-connected member of the region’s Democratic power structure, resigned shortly after what officials have de-scribed as a barroom “altercation.”

The following day, Snider also resigned without explanation as head of the Ma-coupin County Democratic Party and president of the Carlinville School Board.

Quinn’s office has declined to comment on the matter because Snider left the secu-rity staff of the governor, also a Democrat.

Reynold’s account of the fight is the first direct allegation of a racial component in the incident. Snider didn’t respond to repeated calls to his home and cellphone, or to a message left at a business operated by his wife.

Carlinville Police Chief David Haley confirmed that Snider called his home phone and cellphone during the early morning hours of March 18 after a fight. Haley dis-patched police to the Anchor Inn; no arrests were made. “Mr. Snider was involved in an altercation,” Haley said.

Illinois State Police are still investigating “to see if there was any criminal conduct or criminal activity that occurred that night,” spokesman Scott Compton said. Compton confirmed that a state trooper resigned in connection with the altercation, but he declined to provide further information, pending the ongoing investigation.

March 9, 2011, Gene Johnson and Nicholas K. Ge-ranios of the Associated Press and the News Tribune reported that an arrest had been made in connection with the bomb found on the parade route at Spokane’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration.

Kevin William Harpham, 36, who the Southern Poverty Law Center recorded as being associated with the neo-Nazi National Alliance, and who federal agents describe as a white supremacist, is charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and possessing an unregistered explosive device.

As Jessica Robinson’s March 14th OPB News article elaborates, the pseudonym that Harpham used on neo-nazi forums, “Joe Snuffy,” was very active in online white supremacist circles, writing about “race wars and The Turner Diaries.” In addition to his ties to the National Alliance and his online neo-nazi activity, Harpham re-portedly sought out a North Idaho Aryan Nations group requesting information.

INDIANA ANTI-IMMIGRANT BILL REFLECTS A “QUIET AWAKENING” OF RACISTSIndiana is one of the latest states to attempt to pass an Arizona-style anti-immigration bill: S.B. 590, a bill which codifies racial profiling by police and mandates English-only State documents. Despite being met with significant protest from community organiza-tions, educational and religious leaders, the Indiana Farm Bureau, and even a handful of judges and politicians (including Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller), the bill passed an Indiana Senate Labor panel by 8 to 1, and now moves to an appropriations commit-tee. By continuing to move forward with this bill in spite of public opposition (and a likely federal injunction), Indiana is reasserting its proud racist traditions.

Not surprisingly, the white supremacist crowd is praising the bill as a “comprehensive attack on immigration, multiculturalism, and political correctness,” and calling for a “quiet awakening”. This call to action seems to reflect a growing trend of racist activity in Indi-ana . In an effort to bring this underground “awakening” to light (and hopefully put it back to sleep), the following is an overview of the major places and players in Indiana.

The capital of Indiana, and center of the anti-immigrant bill debate, has had KKK mem-bers in control of many of its government offices. These include the Indiana General Assembly, the City Council, the Board of School Commissioners and even the mayor’s office. Former Mayor John L. Duvall and former Governor Edward L. Jackson were both open Klansmen. One current Indianapolis racialist group, “Hoosier Nation” (which sometimes goes by the Indiana Council of Conservative Citizens or the Indiana Tea Party), has organized anti-immigrant demonstrations opposing the DREAM Act, a dem-onstration against the Hollywood film Machete, a demonstration against an Al Sharpton speaking event, and attempted to attend the failed 2011 American Renaissance racist conference, which was shut down by Anti-fascists. Their leader, Matt Parrott, wrote the book “Hoosier Nation,” an unapolagetically racist book which uses a misguided sense of culture and separatism to promote its fascist agenda. Other members include Brian “Jake” Jacobsen, who runs “Radio Free Indiana,” which has hosted the openly racist Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpiao, and the notorious racist Jaenelle Antas:

Jaenelle Antas is an Indianapolis-based racist who organiz-es with “Hoosier Nation,” runs the white power bookstore Lighthouse Literature, and has made over 4500 posts on the nazi forum Stormfront.org. In 2007-2008 she was the assistant to the chair of the Indiana Libertarian Party but left them for more openly racist groups like Council of Conservative Citizens, Hoosier Nations and Indiana Tea Party. She is a Holocaust denier and the main US contact for Nazi sympathizer David Irving, having served as his personal assistant and tour manager during his 2010 US speaking tour, which was disrupted and shut down in nearly every city where he tried to speak. “Well-behaved women rarely make history”.

Both Jaenelle Antas and Matt Parrott of Hoosier Nations recently attempted to attend the white supremacist 2011 American Renaissance conference run by notorious racist Jared Taylor until it was shut down by anti-fascists for the second year in a row. Even though most conference goers backed out, an emergency American Dark Age shadow conference(pictured above) was organized at the last minute over facebook where Hoo-sier Nation members associated with other notorious racists including Paul Fromm and Andrew “Yeoman” White of Bay Area “National” Anarchists pictured here shaking hands.

Bloomington is known for being a liberal stronghold in Indiana, but in the past few months has seen a string of hate crimes. In November, 54-year-old Ellettsville resident and In-diana University employee Mark Zacharias was arrested for several racist attacks on Jewish student centers where windows were broken with rocks and concrete, and He-brew texts were removed from libraries and thrown in toilets. In response, thousands of Bloomington residents wore blue to show solidarity with the Jewish community. Another IU student, Clay Hicks, recently spoke to Fox59 voicing his support of racist store owner Gary Dewester, who is in the news for refusing to stop selling racist “kolored kids” and “darkie” brand soaps out of his Noblesville shop.

Indiana is also home to the Vinlanders Social Club (VSC), primarily based in Indianapolis and Knightstown. The VSC is a renegade skinhead crew co-founded in 2003 by Eric “The Butcher” Fairburn, who at one point had active crews in 20 different States. Brien James, formerly of the Hoosier State Skinheads, is reportedly still active with the VSC, holding gatherings out of his home in Indianapolis at 2507 English Avenue. Many VSC members have committed numerous violent hate crimes, including an 2007 attack on a homeless man, and more recently, a VSC probate and Pennsylvania Correctional Of-ficer, who murdered his wife and kids in 2009. The Vinlanders were once known for wild partying, fighting and “odinist rituals;” however, criminal allegations, “racial impurities” and infighting have led to the group’s slow decline.

Another Indiana racist is Joe Knaack of Hebron, IN. Years ago, he was kicked out of Boon Grove high school for defecating in a fel-low students locker. Later, he was incarcerated in Lake and Jasper County jails, and was sent to rehab at Rosecrance for his addiction to Percocet. Now, he is on the streets claiming to be a member of the Aryan Brotherhood. Joe is employed as a photographer for an appraisal company (perhaps Capital in Munster) and can be fre-quently found at Cultural Cuts(10923 Miami Street Crown Point, IN 46307) with his close comrade and stylist, Edwin.

Tom Metzger is a well-known white supremacist who lives in Warsaw, Indiana. Metzger was a member, and eventual Grand dragon (in California), of David Duke’s KKK: a third era KKK that was both revolutionary and Catholic. He is known for start-ing a group called “White Aryan Resistance” (WAR), the “klan border watch,” and his numerous attempts at electoral politics (winning the Democratic Party nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives in San Diego and serving as a precinct worker for Republican presidential candidate Barry Goldwa-ter). Most recently, he ran for office in the 2010 third congres-sional district getting less than .1% of the vote. Metzger has also faced several lawsuits and incarceration.

On November 7th, Chicago-area nazis in the group “Illinois United,” attempted to hold a barbecue on the border of Indiana and Michigan. The event was organized by Ron Ruhl,

James Logsdon(Creativity Movement) and Eli James(Christian Identity) and was to in-clude a cross/swastika burning. While their events are usually sparsely attended, this event was cancelled entirely due to infighting and mistrust within their ranks (according to John Alexander of Blood & Honour / C18), although the organizers reportedly blamed it on “bad weather.” After many years of watching his friends become informants, victims of violent attacks, or imprisoned (and having his teeth knocked out in prison because of his racist beliefs), James Logsdon still continues to attempt to recruit up new members, specifically targeting vulnerable populations (such as pedophiles and teenagers) and rednecks (like Brian Moudry) for white activism.

Jason Lenz, of Portage, Indiana, started the group “Stormtroop-er Skinheads” with Matt Abney (who was kicked out of the Ken-tucky KKK). They tried attending the Mokena IL Nordicfest gath-ering, the 2010 Midwest Volksfront gathering and the failed 2010 “White Pride World Wide” march. They also tried organizing a rally in San Pierre, IN, recruiting attendees from stormfront.org, but failed, due to their poor reputation and mistrust. The Stor-mtrooper Skinheads’ website paradoxically (and confusingly) informs visitors, “I Get The Last Laugh!! Guess What You Want To Be Nosey (sic)? Your IP Address Has Been Recorded For Going To A Known Racist Website So Back The Fuck Off You Dumb Mother Fucker!!” Days after the failed San Pierre rally, public records showed Ja-son Lenz was arrested while he was hospitalized after destroying the bathroom’s smoke detectors in order to smoke, one of the many times he’s been in the Porter County jail.

Rumors are also surfacing that Andrew Yeoman of the Bay Area National “Anarchists” (BANA), a third positionist white supremacist organization, is attempting to set up a chap-ter here. If they do show, they’ll be treated the same as BANA was on May Day last year.

From politicians pushing anti-immigrant laws like S.B.590, to their street-level counter-parts in KKK and skinhead crews, Indiana’s history of racism is unfortunately still pres-ent. In answer to this “quiet awakening’s” call to action, we need to continue to organize and confront encroaching fascism at all levels. STOP INDIANA FROM BECOMING THE “ARIZONA OF THE MIDWEST”In Indiana, the Republican-controlled house and senate are waging a full-on attack by at-tempting to pass anti-immigrant, anti-worker and homophobic bills, revitalizing Indiana’s fascist history and putting Indiana back on the map as the “Arizona of the Midwest”. Although proceedings are currently stalled (several democrats have boycotted and fled to Illinois to avoid quorum), the Indiana Republicans are not backing off. Recently, they proposed another anti-immigrant law: HB-1402, which eliminates resident tuition to the undocumented. Indiana republicans are also attempting to pass a constitutional amend-ment banning civil unions and gay marriages – a step backwards considering many states (including Illinois) are beginning to recognize gay marriage as legal.

In response to the rising tide of fascism in the Midwest, more and more people are taking to the streets. On February 21st, hundreds marched in Bloomington demanding that IU President Michael McRobbie take a stand against SB590. An occupation staged at IU, with an info-point distributing handouts educating people about the bill, was eventually shut down by IU administrators and police. Bloomington citizens are also organizing know-your-rights trainings and discussions on the cur-rent status of the bill and how to effectively fight it. On March 10 in Chicago, hundreds took to the streets to “come out of the shadows” as undocumented and unafraid. The march culminated at “Liberation Square” with speeches, food, and music. Also on March 10, hundreds of immigrant rights activists rallied in Indianapolis and La Porte, marching in opposition to SB590 (in addition to the massive workers-rights demonstrations). In Wisconsin, Voces de la Frontera Action organized twenty buses to Madison for the colossal March 12 demonstration to show solidarity with the general strike and opposition to the Arizona-style anti-immigrant bill. On March 15, hundreds more rallied yet again in Indianapolis against SB590.

During the Indianapolis March 10 action, a handful of racists gathered to counter-protest the immigrant rights march, holding signs showing their support of SB590 and demand-ing people to “go back to Mexico”. Attendees include Jaenelle Antas and Matt Parrott from the hate groups Hoosier Nation and Council of Conservative Citizens, and mem-bers of the neo-nazi skinhead crew Vinlander Social Club (including leader Brien James from Indianapolis who inanely attempted to provoke the crowd by shouting, “Who wants to make some anarchy? You wanna go in the alley and make some anarchy one on one? I’ll take on any of you”). We want people to be aware of active racists in their neighbor-hoods (and we have previously posted address info for Jaenelle Antas and Brien James)

but if you have any choice words for Matt Parrott his address is listed on an applica-tion when he applied for a permit when he and his white supremacist friends rallied in support of Jerry Piland and several other white Indianapolis police officers who sav-agely beat a young person of color in June 2010.

Another Vinlander affiliate actively promot-ed the counter-protest on racist websites stormfront.org, wotansvolks.webs.com and ingunowners.com. Nick (who goes by the aliases NordicHeathenVinlander and Hjalmar Hellstrom), also created a Face-book account friending many groups and individuals associated with the immigrant rights movement around Indianapolis in the weeks before the event. While posting several comments and links pretending to be against SB590, he was simultaneously posting on stormfront.org, encouraging people to “call Immigration Customs and Enforcement” because he “heard there are going to be illegals tomorrow” (even providing lists of phone numbers for different ICE offices). Nick eventually revealed his true colors as a Hoosier Nation and VSC supporter after word was put out warning people of his futile attempts to gather personal information in order to report people.

Massively outnumbered, all they could do was attempt to engage in “debate” with a few anti-SB590 protesters, by spouting their tired xenophobic arguments. As ARA, we do not believe in giving any platform for fascism to spout their hate and find it disgusting that such individuals walked around in broad daylight openly affiliating with known nazis. Freedom of speech is a concept that both the right and certain factions of the left, ar-gue for– ultimately minimizing our ability to actually act and creating a society where you can say whatever you want so long as you don’t do anything about it. Unfor-tunately for them, not only we do see this as deceptive but we believe that if Nazis want to preach oppression and genocide, then those who they wish to oppress, and who oppose this, should fight them by any means necessary. We also do not believe that an attack on them can even be con-sidered a violation of freedom of speech, as opposed to say an imprisonment for such rhetoric, but rather an act of free will based out of a necessity to eliminate ap-paratuses of oppression. Furthermore, we do not believe in appealing to politicians to seek petty reforms and willingly give up power. Whether through militant confron-tation, occupations, or general strikes, the only way forward is direct action.

EXPOSING GRAND RAPIDS NAZI MICHAEL PETERSON “RAGNAR WHITESON”It’s been a slow few months for the Nazis of Illinois with the white power scene with-in fifty miles of Chicago as good as dead, South Side ARA’s been forced to search in the wider region for fascists to expose. First off is Michael Peterson of the Grand Rapids metro area. You may remember him as Ragnar, mocked intensely as a divider of the white pride movement and possible undercover ZOG agent on Patrick Langballe’s classic video “Juliet is a pig 88″, Juliet being his kid’s mother who has cheated on him with other men in the ‘move-ment’. You might have even seen him in pictures of this year’s Hitler Birthday Celebration in Chicago (he’s the one furthest to the left). He is a Nazi that spent nine years in federal prison and now blogs, paints dolls and figurines, fights with his own community on the internet, writes about mead on the internet and attends school at Grand Rapids Com-munity College for writing and journalism. On top of this, he is a leader of the Gallows Tree Wotansvolk Alliance, a culty religious group that blends Norse Paganism with white supremacy and forbids its members to be part of any other organizations. This outfit organized the Jackson, Michigan White Pride World Wide march March 22 last year.

Now simply exposing Michael for his fascist activism (usually carried out by the name Ragnar Whiteson, Ragnar Odinson, or Wotansvolk) would be enough, but it gets far juicier. Early last year, a White Culture Club attempted (and failed) to start up at Grand Rapids Community College. On the Gallows Tree Forum Michael owns up to the fact that he and other Gallows Tree members started the White Culture Club to help promote the religion he leads. But look up earlier on the thread at the article by the name of “White culture club tries GRCC”. It ran in the Collegiate, GRCC’s student newspaper, at the be-ginning of the controversy. And its author: Mike Peterson, Collegiate Staff Writer. That’s right, an active Nazi got to write THE FIRST ARTICLE about the group he helped start FOR THE PURPOSE OF BRINGING NEW MEMBERS into his own organization, and quite possibly got paid for it. Great journalism Mike! And to the GRCC students won-dering whose been passing out the racist flyers promoting “whitepridemi.com” around campus, the wondering’s over. Although a few suspected white na-tionalists were seen driving around the perimeter of the Iowa state capitol, where the fascist rally was supposed to be held, none apparently had the guts to get out of their cars and risk a confrontation with the large mob of antifascists.

More than sixty anarchists, antifascists, catholic workers, communists, and everyday people from Iowa City, IA; Des Moines, IA; Omaha, Nebraska; and elsewhere converged in Des Moines on Saturday, November 20 to protest a scheduled ¨White Pride Day¨ rally organized by the American National Socialist Party based in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Although a few suspected white nationalists were seen driving around the perimeter of the Iowa state capitol, where the fascist rally was supposed to be held, none appar-ently had the guts to get out of their cars and risk a confrontation with the large mob of antifascists.

The Des Moines Police Department, Polk County Sherriff´s Department, and unknown federal law enforcement were all monitoring the scene, and some anarchists suspect that at least three men who attended the counter-protest were probably undercover law enforcement officers, due to their appearance and behavior.

The counterprotest was organized on less than two weeks notice, and was generally considered a victory for the loosely-affiiliated anarchist movement in Iowa.

¨Sixty-three people attended the counter-protest which means there were sixty–three different social movements represented here today,¨ said one local anarchist. ¨We not only successfully shut-down the neo-nazi rally, we also successfully demonstrated our strength in numbers and the effectiveness of the decentralized affinity group model of organizing.¨

Word of the ¨White Pride Day¨ rally and the proposed counter-protest were disseminated through Facebook, email, and other online social media, and half a dozen or more af-finity groups, representing a wide variety of ideologies and personal styles, and ranging anywhere between four and fourteen people each answered the call.

¨Nazi punks fuck off!¨ yelled one SkinHead Against Racial Prejudice. Another woman from Des Moines carried a sign that read, ¨Hamsters are taking our jobs.¨

¨I used to have a really great job, running around in a cage and rolling in a ball around the living room,¨ she said. ̈ Then a hamster came along and took that job from me, and that´s not right. I don´t think hamsters should be allowed to take our jobs. I´m sick of unicorns, as well, coming around with all their rainbows.¨

Harriet has also recently started her own business, “Garfield Accounting Services,” but it is hard to believe anyone would want to trust their business records or personal details to a company run by active neo-Nazis.

Many Chicago-area Nazis have partici-pated in several WI NSM events. Our own Susan “Pincushion” Lenner, Chicago NSM member who works at “Secrets” headshop in Boystown (pictured here holding an as-sault rifle while Harriet Paletti gives the seig heil), has made the trip to Wisconsin to attend the NSM protest of Milwaukee Pridefest and a gathering at the memorial to Adolf Hitler constructed by former SS Waffen officer Herr Junker. Other Chicago nazis who attended Wisconsin events in-clude NSM member Michael Schloer, who last we heard was still on the streets (having been kicked out of his home for abusing his girlfriend), Chicago NSM Matt who was defeated at the failed 2010 Chicago White Pride Worldwide march, and NSM snitch Tim O’Donnell, who also attended the last NSM Pridefest protest.

Neo-nazis try to hang on the fringes of the right-wing Tea Party movement, taking ad-vantage of rising right-wing tides to recruit, provide a context to engage in violent hate crimes, and more explicitly, promote their fascist organizing. This wink-wink relationship between Nazis, the mainstream right wing, police and politicians composes a compre-hensive attack on immigrants and the working class, from discriminatory legislation down to street level hate crimes. With dozens of states following their lead, Wisconsin has become a main battlefield for this fight, with an Arizona-style anti-immigrant bill in the works, public outrage due to the Republicans passing the widely opposed anti-union bill, and a budget plan that kills in-state tuition and food stamp benefits undocumented people. Tea Party groups such as Americans For Prosperity have organized in true as-troturf fashion several “Stand with Scott Walker” rallies across Wisconsin; millions of dollars have been poured into these front-groups by multi-billion dollar corporations such as Koch Industries headed by notorious right-wingers Charles and David Koch and his father Fred Koch (who co-founded the John Birch Society). The Koch family’s history of supporting fascism dates back to their involvement with the Nazis during WWII where they ran concentration camps, the oil industry, and specialized in making products out of the skin of murdered prisoners. Koch is still active today promoting mainstream Tea Party front groups and supporting politicians like Scott Walker(who himself has defended notorious KKK leader David Duke by saying his issues were legitimate and not extreme enough), further demonstrating the connection between fascism, corporatism, and right-wing politics.

However the rising tides of oppression manifest themselves, whether through the state and politicians like Scott Walker or by the Fascist imbeciles protesting Milwaukee Pridef-est, they must be exposed, confronted, and stopped.

NSM TO PROTEST MILWAUKEE PRIDEFEST AND “COMMUNIST” ROLLER DERBY TEAMThe National Socialist Movement Wiscon-sin unit is planning several upcoming hate-mongering actions: a March 26th private meeting near Fond Du Lac, a May 14th protest of the Rushin’ Rollettes (a ”commu-nist” roller derby team in Milwaukee), and a June 11 demonstration against Milwaukee Pridefest. This is not the first time the WI NSM have attempted to protest Pridefest; last time they were forced to hide behind police protection out of fear of being con-fronted by Milwaukee Bash Back and ARA members. We’re calling for folks to stand up against racial prejudice and homophobia by driving these racist scumbugs out of town.

Although ARA has previously released some names and pictures of WI NSM members, we want to focus on the two main players, Harriet and Paul Paletti. They live in New Berlin with their infant twins Paul and Aryan and both have a long and sordid racist history, having organized numerous NSM events. They plan on at-tending the upcoming 2011 NSM National Conference in New Jersey. Although Har-riet tries to portray the NSM as a group of “community activists” doing “volunteer work at animal shelters, food pantries, and senior centers” on her NewSaxon profile, it is clear through their actions they are capa-ble of violence against people of color and LGBTQ folk. Paul Paletti was arrested in 2008 for beating up a Mexican man outside a bar in Waukesha with a group of Nazis while shouting racial slurs. The charges were eventually reduced to assault and he got two years probation. Although he was ordered not to affiliate with white suprema-cists, that hasn’t stopped him from con-tinuing to organize as the WI NSM. The fact that they are organizing public demonstra-tions shows they are becoming increasing-ly emboldened and need to be reminded that speading hate has consequences.

CONFRONT DAVID IRVING’S 2011 HOLOCAUST DENIAL TOURThe notorious holocaust denier and Nazi sym-pathizer David Irving is at it again, attempt-ing another US tour of thirty cities across the Southern, Western and Midwestern states. The topic of this year’s speaking engagements? “The Life and Death of Heinrich Himmler, Hit-ler’s lieutenant.” Irving’s fraudulent and me-thodical endeavors to rewrite history commonly attract other neo-Nazi miscreants and white supremacists to his gatherings. We’re call-ing upon anti-racist organizations and individuals to confront his tour every step of the way, and send a clear message that revisionism and fascist organizing is not welcome in our communities.

His troubled recollection of basic history must extend to the more recent past, when he encountered fierce antifa resistance the last time he came to the states in late 2009. The fact that Irving can’t go out in public without facing angry mobs trying to run him out of town has forced Irving to organize in secret, going through great lengths to screen potential attendees to his event, never revealing the location until the last minute, and hiring private security. This has never stopped protesters from shutting down his events nor has it provided any sort of security or privacy for the racist scum that attempt to hear Irving speak.

In New Jersey, dozens of anti-fascists filled the Pompton Plains hotel, chanting and struggling with attendees. They were so effective in dis-rupting the event that police had to escort at-tendees out. The same happened a day later in NYC, where the event was not only disrupted, but both Irving’s tour manager Jaenelle Antas and neo-Nazi friend Alex Carmichael were pepper-sprayed. Faced with humiliation and defeat, Irving was forced to cancel his next few scheduled appearances, but the chaos did not end there. Days later his Chicago event was shut down when dozens of masked anti-fascists stormed into the Edelweiss restaurant turning over tables, destroying his merchandise, and assaulting attendees, while Irving and Antas locked themselves in a supply closet in a magnificent display of cowardice.

Right in the middle of his failed east coast appearances, his websites were also attacked by anti-fascist hackers who released his private emails and databases to WikiLeaks. The emails gave hilarious details of the frustrations caused by Irving’s infatuation with his much younger assistant Jaenelle, and also eventually caused his landlord to kick Irving out of his Winsdor home. More importantly, this leak revealed private speaking locations as well as names and addresses of dozens of racist Nazi sympathizers who purchased tickets – a warning to those who would consider purchasing a ticket to Irving’s gather-ings.

The conflicts that populated Irving’s 2009 tour exemplify the danger that venues are sure to face should they host his events. Irving, fearing confrontations during his tour, had hired “Tip of the Spear,” a group which advertises private security for white power events. At the 2009 Palm Beach function, the very people he hired for security had initi-ated a knife fight amongst warring neo-Nazi attendees Christopher Nachtman and John Kopko. The event was booked under Focal Point Productions and the Ritz-Carlton had no idea who Irving was. Additionally, one person attending last year’s Chicago function, John Gisselbrech, was hospitalized during the antifa disruption, hurt so badly that he has hired the prominent Deratany Firm to file a lawsuit against David Irving, his publishing company Focal Point Productions, and Edelweiss Restaurant (who hosted Irving for the second year in a row) for failing to make adequate security precautions. The million dol-lars at stake may shut down these businesses down–yet another warning of what might happen to spaces that host fascist speaking events. Further, they give warning to the puerile few considering attending, as to just what might happen if they do attend. They will be confronted, exposed, shut down, and humiliated.

Interestingly, David Irving’s tour manager and personal assistant for the second year in a row is Jaenelle Antas (7823 Ella Dobbs Ln, In-dianapolis, IN 46227 317-379-8871, 305 923 9400). Despite the unforgettable troubles stem-ming from the 2009 tour (the pepper-spray and Irving’s elderly sexual advances) is giving him another chance and is handling all booking and ticket sales for his tour. The former Assistant to the Chair of the Indiana Libertarian Party, Jaenelle is also involved in the Indianapolis white supremacist scene, belonging to the hate group “Hoosier Nation” which is organizing to support Indiana’s anti-immigrant bill SB590.

David Irving, much like our own Chicago-based holocaust denier (and Northwestern University professor) Arthur Butz (2214 Central St, Apt 3 Evanston, IL 60201) and all other proponents of holocaust denial, have a very specific agenda that, upon further ex-amination, has less to do with spreading their distorted fantasies, and more about Nazi sympathy, scapegoating Jews, and legitimizing racism. Holocaust deniers are attempt-ing to lift the taboo off the holocaust in order to make Nazism a more accepted mass political ideology; in other words, they deny the holocaust so that it can happen again. Even some Nazis, such as William Pierce, find this to be absurd, claiming that holocaust denial proves one to be incapable of living up to the duties of white nationalism. Pierce and those who recognize that the holocaust happened believe it is something to be proud of and feel it should be understood as something necessary.

We anti-fascists find this historical perversion appalling, but — more importantly — find it an impetus to destroy their quest of creating a po-tential for fascism to gain ground. David Irving’s attempts to legitimize such a movement and to victimize Nazis as being bad jacketed must be met with organized militant resistance and shut down everywhere he attempts to make an ap-pearance.

DAVID IRVING’S INDIANAPOLIS SPEAKING EVENT ATTACKED… TWICE It’s only been a few days since David Irving began the second portion of his 2011 tour and already the Midwest has been delivering militant antifa resistance. His first Midwest speaking event was to take place in Indianapolis speaking to members of the racist hate groups Hoosier Nation and American Third Position. However, the night before, the MCL Cafeteria hosting the event had several windows bashed out with bricks that read “Shut David Irving Down” and “No Nazis”, forcing the MCL Cafeteria to shut down the event and tell Hoosier Nation that they can no longer host their monthly racist gatherings there. Matt Parrott and Jaenelle Antas had to scramble to find another emergency location at the last minute, although they have tried to claim, as the boneheads usually do, that this was not the space for their event. We know this is bullshit because dependable intel-ligence sources have confirmed this before and after bricks were thrown.

On April 8th, the night before holocaust denier and nazi sympathizer David Irving’s Indianapolis speaking event, we paid the hosting restaurant an early visit. Three Bricks written with “Shut David Irving Down” and “No Nazis” were launched through the windows to harass the MCL Cafeteria and to prevent Irving from speaking there. The MCL Cafeteria regularly hosts racist gatherings of Hoosier Nation, Council of Conservative Citizens(CCC) and American Third Position meetings led by Indianap-

Attacking Irving on the first func-tion of the Midwest portion of his 2011 speaking tour sets the tone for things to intensify: not only for Irving and his assistant Jaenelle, not only for those who attend and host his events, but for every holocaust denier and every white nationalist. We wish them to be a target of war every minute and every second of there lives and in those moments in which they seem unchallenged, let them wither in fear of retribution and drown in the paranoia caused by the panopticon-like gaze that is antifa.

Apparently, after the location was moved, the dumb-asses managed to give up their new location spot again and, according to Jaenelle’s(Tristania) post on Stormfront, were forced by management to leave. They claim that they found a new location at the last second calling the event a success but whether this is true or not can’t be confirmed. Even if they did have this talk at Parrott’s apartment, or as the Hoosier nation response says, “in a van down by the river”, it wouldn’t have been until two of the former locations fell through, not to mention that one of them was Hoosier Nations monthly meeting spot in which they are no longer welcome. How many people do you think were unable to at-tend this speech due to this fiasco? Meeting taking place or not they went through some hell while antifa had a good time and with no legal repercussions.

The next day, according to David Irving’s facebook, as well as some other sources, St. Louis antifascists have broke windows harassed and spray painted the hotel that were said to be hosting Irving.

Even before his tour began, Irving was already facing disagreements with Jaenelle about how he is poorly managing the funds raised from his book and ticket sales in addition to harsh criticism from his own neo-nazi affiliates that he is washed up, old and an irrelevant mockery of his former self. After an awesome campaign against Irving’s 2010 U.S. tour, we are making sure 2011 will deliver a whole new round of failures for Irving’s holocaust denial tour. And even though there was satisfaction and amusement watching Bill White squirm as the prosecutor called him a “ghoul” bringing up case after case from his hateful past, there is something worrisome about the State achieving a guilty verdict.

The State has never been our ally in the revolutionary struggle against racism. For the most part Nazis and the Klan have always been unofficial boot boys for capitalism and the State – terrorizing communities while having a wink wink relationship with the cops and ruling classes because they do their dirty work. They may bust a few boneheads from time to time but by far the FBI targets and disrupts leftists and revolutionary groups more than right-wing extremists. You have to wonder why they are still trying to keep the MOVE 9, the Angola 3, Mumia Abu Jamal, Leanord Peltier, Oscar Lopez Rivera and many other revolutionaries in jail. Not to mention the mass arrests, beatings, and killings committed by the police against even pacifist wings of the civil rights movement. Chicago has a particularly bloody history where their COINTELPRO operations straight up assas-sinated Black Panther Party leaders Fred Hampton and Mark Clark, and also where CPD detective Jon Burge and others savagely tortured and imprisoned hundreds of innocent black men. Earlier this year, dozens of anti-war activists had their homes raided across the midwest and were subpoened by FBI purportedly searching for ties to international “terrorist” organizations. And the same government that Bill White’s lawyers say are “per-secuting him for his ideas” are also prosecuting folks standing up against racist terror like the Love Park 4, Arpaio 5, Dee and Kelsey, and more.

So while you may hear the big stories like Bill White, or “Operation Stormfront” which net-ted over 50 white power gang member arrests in California last month, or Chicago’s own Patrick Langballe and Mariusz Wdziekonski, it does not make up for the every day racial profiling and police brutality committed by the criminal “justice” system. A disproportion-ate majority of people behind bars are people of color up against racist cops, judges, juries, politicians with much more power over our lives than a handful of nazi losers. The reality is that the prison industrial complex – a white supremacist institution acting as an extension of modern day slavery – must be abolished entirely if we are serious about fighting oppression in all forms.

Toledo Police Protecting Bill White at 2005 NSM Rally

It hasn’t been a good holiday season for disgraced Nazi leader Bill White who was finishing up his first 30 month bid only to be convicted at trial in Chicago of another fel-ony – this time for soliciting threats against a federal jury member from the Matt Hale World Church of the Creator trial. Now he awaits sentencing at MCC where he was placed in protective custody because he was attacked by another inmate. Looks like the once NSM leader now hated by everybody nazi failure follows in Matt Hale’s footsteps to federal prison.

The prosecution brought up a number of Bill White’s hateful acts from over the years – including praising the murder of Judge Joan Lefkow’s husband and Eric Hunt’s attack on Elie Wiesel. White also frequently posted detailed (but frequently incorrect) personal information with racist threats against the Jena 6, dozens of suspected ARA members, and others involved in the struggle for equality and justice. But what really nailed him was posting the name, address, phone number and place of employment of a federal juror from the Matt Hale trial in Chicago calling him a “gay jewish anti-racist” and that “everyone involved with the Matt Hale trial should have been murdered”. Mark Hoffman testified on Monday that he broke down to tears in fear after receiving dozens of racist threats because Bill White posted his full name, address, phone number, and place of employment on his nazi website Overthrow.com. Prosecutors then brought up his affili-ation and praise for other well known violent nazis like Eric Hunt to demonstrate White had the capability to influence “young stupid 18 year olds like Phil Anderson” to commit acts of racial violence.

Two Nazis came forward and testified at the trial both giving up internal details about their work with Bill White, his NSM splinter group the ANSWP, and the Cre-ativity movement. One witness Michael Burks is already a well known Nazi detrac-tor and FBI informer who has burned all bridges with Bill White, the ANSWP, and the Kentucky KKK. The other witness is also very well known around to us: Phil Anderson, who after Whites imprison-ment, went on to start the Illinois National-ist Socialist Front (INSF) who just couldn’t keep it together after getting their asses kicked at last year’s failed “White Pride

Update 4/20: Bill White was released from federal prison (on Hitler’s Birthday, of all days) after his conviction was overturned. He is still on supervised release in Maryland and banned from posting anything on the internet.

DISGRACED NEO-NAZI BILL WHITE’S CONVICTION IN CHICAGO

At the 2010 ARA conference in Portland our second point of unity was modified to further articulate our opposition to their court systems:

We don’t rely on the cops or courts to do our work for us. This doesn’t mean we never go to court, but the cops uphold white supremacy and the status quo. They at-tack us and everyone who resists oppression. We must rely on ourselves to protect ourselves and stop the fascists.

We don’t seek in asking permission from anybody to gather in public or to drive out the facsists using whatever tactics are most effective. We also refuse to cooperate with the State or leave it all up to systematic reforms to fight racism as if they were capable of it anyway. Militant direct action – like the kind delivered to the NSM every time they attempt to march in Phoenix – is the only way we’ll be able to destroy all that stands in our way of creating an egalitarian society free from racist sexist and homophobic oppressions.

Although we are happy Bill White is off the streets (and that he won’t be allowed near the internet when he gets out) this does not mean we believe locking Nazis up is a real solution (especially considering it’s possible they will be supported by white prison gangs such as the Aryan Brotherhood, the Northsiders, Nazi Low Riders and others). Don’t get us wrong – we aren’t exactly rushing to defend the “free speech” of racist scum like Bill White. But the prosecuters securing a conviction in this case also sets dangerous legal precedent which can and has in the past been used to repress revolutionary movements at an even greater magnitude. Consider the 2005 Toledo Ohio riots against the NSM rally organized by Bill White – when the NSM announced they would return to Toledo in December for a second rally, the city of Toledo passed the day before an emergency injunction banning any public gathering anywhere outside the downtown permitted area. This injunction was eventually used to arbitrarily arrest over dozens of anti-racists for simply gathering in public at libraries and elsewhere.

Bill White followed in the footsteps of Matt Hale: he attempted to be a national white power leader and threatened a lot of innocent people and organized others into action, but in the end he got more than he bargained for. He tried so hard to be some sort of mar-tyr but never quite made it – difficult when he is hated by so many even other Nazis who praise his imprisonment. But even though he is embarassing to their movement there is always the risk he could influence some fringe boneheads who would follow his lead and take action. If so we will be there to remind them that there no future for white supremacy and they, like their disgraced and fallen “leaders,” are going to get hit big time.

April, Chicago: Brian lloyd Christian, a third position white supremacist, was jumped by antifascists before entering heartland cafe for a piano performance. A week later his whole neighborhood was fli-ered exposing him for the racist trash he is. Brian was promptly fired from his Opera On Tap musical career after having his activi-ties exposed.

Jan. – Phoenix, AZ: Phoenix area anar-chists initiated a march in the arts district of downtown Phoenix for the monthly “First Friday” artwalk. The call was in response to the deaths of two immigrant youths who were found in a canal after fleeing from a Maricopa County Sheriff Deputy near Gila Bend, and the murder of a third youth, who was shot and killed by a Border Patrol agent while climbing the border wall in Nogales.

Jan. -- Spokane, WA: An anti-personnel bomb was found in the path of a scheduled Martin Luther King Day march for equality.

Feb. – Charlotte, NC: Anti-racists suc-cessfully prevented the racist “American Renaissance” conference from occurring in Charlotte and celebrated the occasion by holding a small rally and press conference. Feb.

Seattle, WA: A roving gang of rioters smashed property and attacked Seattle police with fireworks, flares and fire extin-guishers Saturday night near the site where an officer shot a woodcarver to death last August.

Feb. – Portland, OR: A statement was re-leased claiming responsibility for smashing the windows of a police contact station and attributed it to revenge for recent police murders and repression in Seattle.

Feb. – Seattle, WA: A nazi bonehead was caught on video by a local news crew get-ting his ass beat by two people of color he attempted to rob and run out of a local park. Unfortunately, the local news reporter (a person of color) intervened and saved the bonehead.

Feb. – Tacoma, WA: On the morning of February 28th, a Tacoma Police Depart-ment building had all its windows smashed out and some paint thrown on the facade. This was done as part of the West Coast call out for two days of action against the police.

Mar. – Calgary: Local bonehead crew the Aryan Guard attempted to hold a march but were foiled when local police said they could not protect them from several hundred antifascist demonstrators mo-bilized by Calgary ARA. The boneheads hopped a bus and went home to reinvent a reason for getting so thoroughly embar-rassed. One member of Aryan Guard was arrested on outstanding warrants and one antifa was arrested. Calgary has become somewhat of a battleground lately, with nazi attacks on the rise, culminating in a brutal attack on Calgary ARA member Ja-son Devine in the home in his and his fam-ily that ended in serious injuries for Devine and a friend of his. Mar. - Chicago: 2 members of “The 77’s,” a local punk crew with a long history of ha-rassing people of color and assaulting the homeless were treated to a well-deserved beat down by local antifa.

Mar. - Chicago: Secrets, a head shop that employs Nazi and NSM member Susan Lenner, had its front window mashed with a cinderblock that had “Fire Suzy” written on it. Here’s hoping they take the hint.

Mar. – Claremont, CA: Police managed to keep several hundred anti-racists and 24 members of the neo-nazi National Social-ist Movement separate as the NSM staged an anti-immigrant rally.

Mar. – Montreal, QB: Several vehicles belonging to the Public Security Ministry of Quebec were doused in paint stripper and had their tires slashed. This Ministry oversees the provincial prisons and police forces. A statement was released attribut-ing the action to solidarity with those from Seattle and the pacific northwest who have been struggling with several incidents of police murder and brutality of late.

Mar. – New Brunswick, NJ: Hub City ARA released a sample of their intelligence files one month before the National Social-ist Movement’s planned march in Trenton, NJ on April 16th,These files included two profiles of Jason Heicke and Toni Stamos two NJ NSM organizers as well as infor-mation on American Front, American 3rd Positionists, and other nazi groups operat-ing in NJ.

Mar. – New Jersey: Before you could say “fuck off you g.g. allin wannabe goons,” New Jersey nazi-afilliated, rape-advocat-ing, all-around scumfuck band Call the Paramedics was taken off another gig in the northeast. This time (for the 3rd time) it was at a Clifton bar called Dingbatz, who (for a 3rd time) cancelled the band, this time almost immediately after antifa became aware of the situation. Call the Paramedics lost more than 80% of their last tour’s shows thanks to exposure from One People’s Project and ARA, and if any-one should see them playing in their area, don’t let that shit go down.

Mar. – Olympia, WA: A police substation at 200 Perry street was targeted twice in two weeks. In the first attack its front

window was smashed and two patrol cars were damaged. In the second a small fire did some minor damage to the substation.

Mar. – Santa Cruz, CA: Two Santa Cruz County Sheriff Department vehicles were attacked on the night of March 15th. Their tires were slashed and etching fluid was thrown onto their windows. A statement re-leased

Mar.- Tacoma, WA: a police car had paint thrown on it, etching fluid was used to ruin at least three windows. A statement was released dedicating the action to “those comrades imprisoned in chile, on hunger strike…”

Mar.- Windsor, NC: A noisy demo was held outside a rural prison. The demonstra-tors had several gigantic banners reading “Against Prisons” and “Hands Off James Graham.” (Graham is one of several pris-oners in Windsor facing punishment for his role in organizing there)

Oakland, CA: Reaction to the Nov. 5 sen-tencing of murdering cop Joseph Mehserle for his execution of Oscar Grant was mas-sive and militant. After the BART cop was given only 2 years minus time served, leav-ing him to be released in as few as a few months, the streets of Oakland filled with angry people who were met with intense police repression and 100s of arrests in at-tempt to disperse them.

West Coast, US: Austrian Far-Right Fas-cist Band Allerseelen (for more info on them visit RoseCityAntifa.weebly.com) encoun-tered Antifa resistance to their December west coast tour. Their date in Portland was cancelled after antifascists told the space of the band’s ties and views. At the time of this writing, their LA show had already had to move venues once, and the people booking Allerseelen have been re-ceiving tons of complaints.

Chicago, IL: Chicago’s ultra-right Tea Party released a statement related to a re-cent alleged arson at their Christmas party on 12/10. According to the tea-baggers, someone sneaked into the bathroom of the bar where the party was and left 4 burn-ing road flares taped together in the trash can, filling the bar with smoke and forcing everyone to evacuate. Written on the toi-let seat in red was “FUCK THE CHICAGO TEA PARTY.”

Clackamas County, OR: December 11 is known in Nazi/WP circles as “martyrs’ day.” Their “martyrs” are members of the infamous “Order,” who committed a string of murders and robberies in an attempt to start a “white revolution” in the 1980’s. Anti-fa in OR ‘celebrated’ this year by distribut-ing hundreds of “WANTED” posters, outing several key members of Volksfront. Portland, OR: Rose City Antifa used “mar-tyrs’ day” as an excuse to release over a

show and phone jammed the second ven-ue all day. Several members of B49 and VT pulled out knives and rocks and attacked the antifa, who scattered though a few of them had some minor injuries. Their over-reaction may be related to a member of VT having his nose broken after starting a fight with an antifascist a few weeks earlier.

Tomball, TX: This September Tomball became the target of several racist anti-immigrant groups and neo-nazis for the city council’s rejection of proposed anti-immigrant ordinances. Pickets were orga-nized by scumbags from the Minutemen, Border Watch, and Tea Party supporters, and attended by racist bikers and neo-na-zis. Texas antifascists came out in force to oppose them, and one antifa was attacked by a nazi with a camera tripod. The antifa defended themselves, which prompted the nazi to run to the police and show video taken only after the attack had begun, lead-ing to the antifascist’s arrest.

Columbus, OH: Columbus is a city with a long history of radical antifascism, and did not disappoint this September when Co-lumbus ARA received a tip that some local boneheads would be meeting at a Lowe’s parking lot to distribute literature around the city. 20 ARA and antifa approached the Nazis in the parking lot and told them to fuck off. The Nazis complied, leaving and attempting to regroup nearby, where they were again set upon by ARA. At this point the police arrived and the groups were sep-arated. Antifa then had to deal with a few hours of police harassment, but the Nazis didn’t distribute a flyer.

North Brunswick, NJ: Hub City ARA and other queers/allies gathered to protest a planned picket by Westboro “God Hates

Fags” Baptist Church at a high school for a production of “The Laramie Project.” WBC a no-show.

Clifton, NJ: Neo-Nazi band “Call the Para-medics” was dropped from NJ Death Fest, culminating a rash of cancellations of virtu-ally all their shows since their nazi ties/affili-ations were brought to light by antifascists. Word on the street is that antifa who had played with some other bands on the bill got to talking to those bands, and that was all it took. Pittsburgh, PA: David Japenga was sen-tenced to 6 to 18 months after being con-victed of property destruction during the G-20 protests in Pittsburgh in 2009. On the night of his conviction in November, police report a group of protesters marching in downtown Oakland (the neighborhood in Pittsburgh David was arrested in) and thou-sands of dollars of damage to the windows of a bank and upscale eatery. Japenga has since been released early after serving a few more weeks on top of his already over 4 months served.

Berkeley, CA & Muncie, IN: Pittsburgh is not the only city to see attacks on banks. Recently there have been statements re-leased relating to vandalisms of the 1st Source Bank of Indiana and a Wells Fargo in Berkeley.

Tacoma, WA: An anonymous person or persons released a statement claiming re-sponsibility for a Dec. 14 smashing of all the windows of a police substation there. The person or group attributed the attack to the oppression or prisons and the regular murders committed by police.

Chicago, IL: Pro-choice militants threw chunks of asphalt through the dining room window of anti-choice patriarch Joe Scheidler of the so-called “Pro-Life Ac-tion League.” Accompanying the asphalt chunks was a note signed by some “crazy feminist bitches.” ’Nuff Said.

Chicago, IL: The racist, xenophobic pro-paganda film “The Minutemen” (dealing with the anti-immigrant vigilante border patrol group of the same name) was being screened at the Chicago international film festival in early October and was met with antifascist resistance. The first screen-ing had protesters out front, and several antifascists confronted Minuteman leader Robert Crooks, pelting him with eggs as he tried to leave the film festival. The next day, several antifascists obtained tickets to the screening and disrupted Crooks by calling him out as a racist. Finally, the film’s pro-ducer Nick Weissman was smashed with a dog-shit pie as he attempted to give a press interview, putting a final emphasis on what happens when you bring murderous racists and propaganda to our cities. Des Moines, IA: Over 60 antifascists gathered in front of the Iowa state capitol in anticipation of an announced “White Pride Day” in mid-November. Several white na-tionalists were seen driving around the perimeter of the area, but all of them were too scared of the mob of anti-fas to park. With superior numbers and physical attrac-tiveness, the anti-fa succeeded in shutting down the rally before it even began.

Phoenix, AZ: A march by the Neo-Nazi Na-tional Socialist Movement (NSM) through Phoenix in mid-November was met with stiff resistance. Rocks were thrown at the Nazis and the cops defending them, and the route

was blocked by a group of antifa who were met with tear gas and a few arrests. March organizer J.T. Ready was briefly confronted by antifa before being rescued by an un-dercover cop.

Philadelphia, PA: Antifascists turned out on October 10 for Keystone State Skin-heads’ (KSS) annual Leif Ericson day celebration. Recent months have seen a marked reduction in activity by KSS, once one of the most active and public white power groups. On the day of, not a sin-gle nazi showed up, leaving antifa to pose for pictures on the statue of Ericson. This seems to be the end of KSS, not a moment too soon. KSS co-founder Steve Smith or-ganized a small Leif Ericson event weeks later. It was held by American 3rd Position Party, a racist political party that has been recruiting from the ashes of KSS, probably to save face after gloating antifa made pub-lic the sudden demise of Leif Ericson Day.

New York, NY: Members of the ultra-na-tionalist anticommunist band Venganza Tat-uada and their crew Battalion 49 attacked a group of antifascists in mid-October. The antifa had shown up near their show to con-firm reports from that venue that they had cancelled the show. After they encountered the more numerous fascists, the antifa identified themselves as the very ones who had gotten their first venue to cancel the

was released claiming responsibility for a December vandalism of a dozen vehicles belonging to the Bell building in the city. The statement claimed that Bell refused to publicly release footage their security cam-era captured of a police shooting out front of a Muslim man on his way home from mosque and that this was retribution.

Montreal, QC: A statement was released in mid-Nov. claiming responsibility for win-dow smashing and paint defacement of the Russian embassy in Montreal. The com-muniqué named repression of antifascists and environmentalists by the Russian gov-ernment, related to the anti-fas’ attempt to protect a forest in Khimiki.

Portland, OR: A smoke bomb was set off in a cop bar in Portland early December 6, and a short statement was released by anonymous anarchists in solidarity with several victims of state repression/murder.

Modesto, CA: Dec. 6, a group of 15 pro-testers marched into a Modesto police station during a public meeting, chanting “Cops! Pigs! Murderers!” They wore masks bearing the faces of two people killed by Modesto police in September. The an-archists disrupted the meeting shortly but avoided any arrests.

Seattle, WA: Also on Dec. 6, a banner was dropped from an overpass in Seattle read-ing “Police violence is no accident. Cops

are killers.” A short statement announcing the banner drop attributed it to the anniver-sary of Greek police murdering a young teen and the uprising that followed.

Asheville, NC: A statement was released claiming responsibility for an attack on 6 Department of Corrections cars in late Nov. and attributing it to police repression of an-archists and radicals.

Asheville, NC: About 50 anarchists marched and rallied in support of the “Ashe-ville 11,” who were arrested this past May Day for alleged property destruction at a march. The group marched from a nearby park to the county jail, chanting with several banners, including one reading, “Police are the absolute enemy.”

Portland, OR: An anonymous statement was released claiming responsibility for the vandalism of 5 unmarked police cars. The cars had their tires slashed and were doused in paint thinner. The statement also espoused anti-state, anti-police and anti-racist ideas

New Brunswick, NJ: Anti-fascists and pro-choice individuals have been striking back against anti-abortion fundamentalists in their community. Anti-choicers picketing a local clinic during the “40 days for life” were struck by fruit and obscenities by pass-ersby, and a longstanding fake clinic run by anti-choicers had its locks glued and a security camera damaged.

Chicago, IL: Chi-town antifa lured the lead-er of the city’s most active neo-nazi group and one of his crew 3 hours from home af-ter posing as a potential recruit looking to buy a t-shirt. The two Nazis were greeted by a handful of antifa, who treated them to a proper greeting before making a quick es-cape, leaving the Nazis, who were arrested afterwards, reeling.

Trenton, NJ/Philadelphia, PA: Antifas-cists from NJ and Philly have been on their game. Upon spotting Nazis at DRI shows in Philly and Sayreville, NJ antifa mobilized

for a DRI show in Trenton, NJ. Contacting the promoters to get permission to table, they turned out huge numbers, and ran several members and associates of Key-stone State Skinheads (KSS) out the door no sooner than they had paid admission. Philly antifa also tailed some KSS bone-heads as they left an Overkill show in the city. In both instances KSS regional director Keith Carney attempted to deny he was a nazi as he fled. KSS seems to be suffer-ing further setbacks, and have apparently cancelled their Leif Ericsson day action for October 10.

Chicago, IL: Chicago outed local National Socialist Movement (NSM) member Suzy Lenner at her workplace, ironically a head shop called Secrets. A man claiming to be her boss jumped out of a taxi and accosted the antifa, but was met with a barrage of eggs against him and his store. Again, the antifascist ninjas melted into the street and evaded authorities.

Pittsburgh, PA: PGH pro-choice militants and neighborhood kids converged on anti-choice protesters on a main drag in town, blocking their signs with large sheets. Eventually the antichoicers gave up and headed to their car, where they were tailed by a now large, angry mob. At some point the car of one of the anti-choicers had its windows broken. They have not been seen in the neighborhood since.

Omaha, NE: A 62 year old man was ar-

rested for firing pepper spray at Gay hating, racist, sexist, all around worst people in the world Westboro “god hates fags” Baptist Church members while they picketed a mil-itary funeral. Westboro Church members also got a hot reception by dozens of comix fans when they attempted to picket the San Diego Comic-Con.

Portland, OR, July: As part of the July 31 Call to Action Against Racism and Fascism, a coordinated effort by anti-racists in North America and beyond (check out july31an-tifa.blogspot.com for the Call and other re-ports of events that took place that day), a crowd of about 65 rallied and marched to the home of neo-Nazi Jeffery Jay Thomas, to distribute information about his political activities. Thomas was “out-ed” by RCA on July 4 for his participation in the rac-ist Blood and Honour American Division 2010 Gathering near Omaha, Nebraska, as well as his other white power activities in Portland and beyond. To call Central City Concern Administration and express concern about neo-Nazi organizer Jeffrey Jay Thomas living at and organizing from their Sally McCracken Building property, the number for their Administrative Offices is: 503-294-1681 (Use *67 to obscure your number if security is a concern.) While anti-racists rallied downtown, flyers were also in the mail to 100+ neighbors of Chaseton Dale Word, local leader of the neo-Nazi Northwest Front. The NWF claims the Pa-cific Northwest must be ethnically cleansed to form a white-only homeland.

RACE, CLASS STRUGGLE & ORGANIZED LABOUR IN THE “AGE OF WISCONSIN”

Ajamu Nangwaya is a trade union and community activist and a doctoral candidate at the University of Toronto.

Madison, Wisconsin, may have given organized la-bour - or the labouring classes - a hint at the pos-sibility of resistance in the streets of America. Or should the credit go to the children of Caliban [1] in the streets and squares of Egypt? Can you imag-ine the role reversal implied by the prospect of the children of Caliban’s teaching those of Prospero, the great civilizer, the art of being human or striving for moral autonomy…collective personhood?

Many commentators have asserted that if there had been no revolt in Egypt, and no forced departure of the pharaoh-like Hosni Mubarak, there would not have been mass protest action in that oh-so-white of a state, Wisconsin. It is simply amazing to think that the fair citizenry of Wisconsin would require an external political stimulus to challenge their exploi-tation; the racialized section of the United States’ working-class has been bearing the brunt of the racist, sexist and capitalist battering of the welfare state structures since the 1980s without much sympathy from their white working-class counterparts.

But predominantly-white Wisconsin is up in arms when the chicken comes home to roost in their own backyard! Martin Luther King was quite right when he declared, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” We can only hope that white workers come to realize that white supremacist beliefs and practices only weaken the working-class - to the advantage of the small capitalist elite.

The political and economic elite in the United States is ruthlessly using the aftereffects of the Great Recession as a pretext to further weaken the economic, social and po-litical conditions of the working-class. It was the actions of the captains of industry and commerce and their politicians that were responsible for the massive job losses, near-collapses of major financial firms, housing foreclosures (which largely affected racialized urban communities) and overall ‘bust’ of the capitalist business cycle.

One of the effects of the preceding events was a massive reduction in revenue flowing to the coffers of the different levels of government. It should be noted that prior and ongoing tax cuts - granted by the political class to corporations, wealthy individuals and high in-come earners - were also critical factors in the deficits now faced by state governments.

But it is the working-class in the public sector and the members of our communities who

are dependent on public services that are being called upon to sacrifice their already tenuous or precarious standard of living to slay budgetary deficits across America. From the federal government under the pied piper leadership of President Barack Obama to two-bit governor Scott Walker in Wisconsin to multi-millionaire Governor Rick Synder in Michigan, tax-cuts to the well-heeled, disciplining of the working-class and social pro-gramme spending reduction are the preferred policy options. [2]

Hopefully, this bitter medicine from the neo-liberal or monetarist black bag will alert work-ers to their true class identity and interests. The fox (capitalist class) and the chickens (workers) cannot have a community of interest. It is in the nature of the former to desire the latter for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Many members of the United States’ working-class have been mislabeling themselves as middle-class as a result of the relentless ideological and social conditioning by the combined forces of the media, school, family, politicians, religious institutions and even union bureaucrats.

The capitalist or corporate elite are also implicated in the mental slavery or false con-sciousness of workers. According to Funiciello, the capitalist elite, in its capacity as bosses of the wage-slavery regime, plays a critical role in keeping workers distracted or servile:

Here in America, it has been difficult for rank-and-file Americans to see their own yoke. That’s how sophisticated is the hand of the very small elite that has controlled how many jobs we will have, where we will live, whether we will have a house or an apartment, how our children will be educated (or mis-educated?) and, even, what and how much we will eat. The consolidation of power over the people by that small elite has occurred over several decades, but just now the minions of Corporate America are coming out into the open and trying to administer the coup de grace. The minions are Republicans and, unfortunately, they have had help from many Democrats.[3]

However, the current state-sponsored legislative initiatives aimed at destroying collec-tive bargaining rights, decent wages, workplace benefits and the ability of unions to financially support political activities – along with union-crippling “right to work” laws - should disabuse workers of their middle-class illusions. If you sell your labour and do not exercise substantive control over the organizing, managing and directing of work or the labour process, you are a member of the working-class, period!

One may be forgiven for thinking that the pulse of resistance had disappeared from the body of organized labour in the United States. Other than participation in the farce that is electoral politics (politricks?), organized labour has been, for the most part, absent from political struggles against white supremacy, sexism and capitalism.

With the attack on public sector unionism in Wisconsin and other states and the tentative fight-back posturing of the labour movement that has begun to emerge in response, a cu-rious observer may be excused for wondering aloud: “Has this Lazarus now risen from its deathly sleep and re-discovered its historical mission?” Has Lazarus, the working-class, finally remembered that its principal role ought to be the battle to free society from social oppression? We will know the answer in the fullness of time. The assault on collective bargaining rights of public sector workers by Governor Walker could be an undisguised gift to social movement activism. It has certainly been a long time since labour and its allies have mobilized tens of thousand of people into the streets over point of production

or workplace issues.

Andy Kroll, a writer and an eyewitness at the protest actions against this potentially game-changing legislative attack on public sector unionism, states that “within a week there were close to 70,000 protesters filling the streets of Madison.” [5] The writer was so moved by the spirit of resistance in the occupied Capitol building in Madison and events in the street that he declared, “Believe me, the spirit of Cairo is here. The air is charged with it.” [6]

While the protests on the scale in Madison, Wisconsin may bring into motion forces that represent radical or revolutionary demands, I am not among the commentators who are overly impressed with what I have been seeing and reading. I am reminded of the in-structive refrain of the African Jamaican dub poet, “A revolt ain’t revolution.” A revolution ought to be guided by revolutionary ideas and demands. It would be a stretch to even think that the preceding condition exists in Wisconsin, or even Egypt. We are currently at such a low level of movement activism or upsurge that even a ripple of protest may inspire fantastic declarations and expectation.

However, Larry Pinkney of the online publication The Black Commentator has a more sobering assessment of the Wisconsin protest than Kroll, which runs counter to the eu-phoric pronouncements that I have read in alternative spaces:

While it is certainly heartening to see some people making and taking a stand in Madison, Wisconsin, this does not mean that Wisconsin has somehow become Egypt. It has not. There are numerous inherent contradictions that have yet to be forthrightly addressed in Wisconsin, U.S.A., and which strongly impact the most economically and politically dispossessed and despised of people in Wisconsin and throughout the United States. [7] Pickney is raising questions about the oppres-sion of the racialized working-class, inclusive of those with and without jobs. Their material interest does not garner substantive or broad sympathy from white union bureaucrats and rank-and-file members.

Where were the protests when Reagan and Clinton assaulted the working-class by changing “welfare as we know it” and demonized African Americans and the poor in the process? Where was the howling from organized labour when Clinton proudly declared his intention to put 100,000 additional cops on the streets of America [8] and dramatically increase the number of Africans, Hispanic and poor whites in the prison-industrial com-plex or penal colonies? Where was organized labour when affirmative action was being savaged for merely trying to weaken white supremacist employment and other structural barriers in the workplace and the wider society?

Organized labour is willing to move when it is faced with self-evident existential threats. Stephanie Bloomingdale, Secretary-Treasurer of Wisconsin’s AFL-CIO, seemed to con-firm the preceding assertion when she noted, “[o]ur very labor movement is at stake and when that’s at stake, the economic security of Americans is at stake.” [9] I wonder wheth-er her visual image of “Americans” looks like the people on Fulton Street in Brooklyn, New York. On the contrary, when the “slings and arrows” fired at the racialized working-class provoke even the slightest bit of racial animus, union bureaucrats and white work-ers, through their inaction or silence, tend to support the initiatives of the ruling-class.

White supremacy has been a reliable tool, used to set white workers against Africans and other racialized workers in the United States, from the days of chattel slavery up to

our current period of wage-slavery. Marx’s 1867 assertion remains valid today: “In the United States of North America, every independent movement of the workers was para-lysed so long as slavery disfigured a part of the Republic. Labour cannot emancipate itself in the white skin where in the black it is branded” (emphasis mine). [10]

The class struggle and a united working-class movement in the United States (and Can-ada) will remain “paralysed”, deformed and underdeveloped, if the commitment to the elimination of white supremacy does not become a strategic goal of the organized labour and the general working-class. Would the outpouring of solidarity with Wisconsin work-ers be the same if the target was a group of largely racialized public sector workers?

Ford captures the issue at stake - the role of race and white supremacy in limiting the class struggle in the United States:

Wisconsin is, in a sense, a near-ideal terrain for a showdown with the Tea Party brand of Republicanism. The actors in the drama are overwhelmingly white, putting the raw class nature of capital’s aggression in stark relief. With relatively few Black scapegoats to complicate the issue, white folks must confront the bare facts of the way late-stage capitalism tramples ordinary people as it careens from crisis to crisis.

Or, maybe not. White supremacy is a dynamic ideology that has always been central to the domestic functions of American Exceptionalism, distorting not just race rela-tions but all other social relations, as well. Once the foundational Nigger has been invented and given life in the public mind, with all his purported logic-bending and society-polluting defects, his[/her] characteristics can be imputed to other targeted groups – a ready-made demonization kit. Public employees in general and teachers in particular now find themselves Niggerized as lazy featherbedders, no-count ma-lingerers, fellow travelers with welfare queens and other human malignancies that must be excised so that the free market can work its wonders. [11]

The task facing us class struggle and anti-oppression advocates is to be “ruthlessly” frank and firm in our commitment to challenge and eradicate white supremacy within the labour movement, the general working-class and the structures of the wider society. It was encouraging to know that the question of race and centring the interest of the racial-ized working-class surfaced within the conversations of the Madison resistance - albeit in a fairly marginal space. [12] The objective reality facing organized labour and the working-class in general is the need for a full integration of a principled anti-racist prac-tice into the heart and mind of the resistance against capitalist domination.

ANTI-FASCISTS VS FASCISM VS THE STATE: A THREE WAY FIGHT, NOT DEMOCRACY IN CRISISThe State: is the compulsory political institution of a centralized government that main-tains a monopoly of the use of force within a certain territory. It applies to the courts, the cops, the laws, the politicians etc.

Fascism: A grass-roots revolutionary and self-proclaimed anti-capitalist movement based on racial/religious or other superiority and a false sense of victimization. fascism attaches itself to populist ideology, relies on political violence and deceit and often is void of a political platform. It seeks internal cleansing and external expansion.

Capitalism: An economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange of wealth is made and maintained chiefly by private individuals or corporations, especially as contrasted to cooperatively or state-owned means of wealth.

The way we describe things and how we define them is important. Misunderstood and misused terminology, definitions that are not appropriate to their origins and genealogy, are dangerous. In this case the term at hand is ‘fascism’. You can attempt to describe fascism in a static image, as we have before for reasons of simplicity, but it is best under-stood as it has existed and how it has functioned. Often to understand what something is you must understand what it is not, and that is where the purpose of this piece comes into play. Many leftists and even anarchists fail to understand that fascism and the State are two very different things. There are two reasons why it is necessary to recognize these as completely separate entities. First, to equate fascism with the State, or even worse, bureaucracy, is to misunderstand fascism and to obfuscate what it really is. This minimizes its opposition by maximizing its abilities to go unnoticed. Second, to recognize the state as fascist fuels an attempt to attack its “fascist” leadership. This strengthens the state by taking away from the idea that it is oppressive in its very nature. That the entire framework of the system itself must be destroyed, not just it’s supposed leadership.

Liberal antifascists may recognize the difference in definition but do not oppose the state or capitalism. They attempt to stage the discourse and struggle of anti fascism as de-mocracy vs fascism, seeing fascism as, most importantly, a threat to the established or-der. This once again strengthens the state, by urging the necessity for a more democratic society and a more pure capitalism. We recognize that fascism is something different, yet we also want nothing to do with capitalism and the state. So which is worse? There is no simple answer to this. Fascism in power (which some purists would argue is not fascism at all given it had to sacrifice its own ethics to gain that power) may be far more brutal, however, if every stage of fascism is a fascist movement in itself, then one that never got past its own self realization could certainly not be worse than U.S democracy. Not only that, but how do we measure strength? Is it how easy something is to destroy? Obviously fascism is far easier to defeat than Capitalism, so maybe it is a question of which produces the other. Some Marxists say that fascism is capitalism in crisis and democracy is the mode of operation in which fascism is born out of. But the question of which produces the other becomes irrelevant when we realize that capitalism, fascism, and the state must be destroyed.

ADVANCING THE UNDERSTANDINGOF THE ONES WE DESTROYIn the Left there is a real a problem, amongst many, of reducing Fascism to be merely synonymous with bureaucratic or even just plain “bad”, tossing the word around so loose-ly when describing “measures that represent the ordinary functioning of government”. This only serves to delude the discussion. Fascism is a grassroots and self proclaimed anti-capitalist movement or “political behavior” based on racial/religious superiority that abandons liberty and pursues with violence a quest for internal purity and expansion. It has many tendencies and forms. Antifascists must not only understand, but be able to explain why the work we do is necessary: if we want to develop strong militant cadre we must advance our understanding of that which we are fighting. Here are a few reads that may be helpful in capturing a definition or analysis that better suit us for internal debate.

We march because the scapegoating and criminalization of immigrants is a cru-cial part of the overall attack on working people. We march because anti-immigrant legislation has created the conditions of modern-day slavery for migrant workers.We march because as long as one worker is deport-able, all workers are exploitable.

US corporate interests concentrate wealth and power in the hands of a few, while desta-bilizing economies and displacing working people at home and around the globe.

Together we must oppose the forces making us pay for a crisis we did not create.

Together we must stand against policies that limit workers’ collective political representa-tion. Together we must fight for justice, fair wages, decent working conditions, basic dig-nity and full legal status for all working people. Solidarity forever must be for everyone!
