  1. 1. CHELSEA ROADTHE BATH BAKERY. NICOLE BOULTON
  2. 2. COMMUNITY community /kmyoonit/ Noun A group of people living together in one place, esp. one practicing common ownership: "acommunity of nuns". All the people living in a particular area orplace: "local communities".
  3. 3. The modern age has developed into a time oftechnology and alternative methods ofcommunication and it is now very rare that youfind a tightly bound community that rely anddepend on each other within the community forbusiness, support, friendship and trade. Chelsea Road still obtains that sense ofcommunity with no major chain stores, allindependently run local businesses.
  4. 4. BATH BAKERY MOTTO: A great place to work - great peopleto work with Mark Slevin, Managing Director quotes: Wehave been hand-crafting bread in Bath fordecades and continuously add to our widerange of products there is always somethingnew in our shops! We are proud of ourcommitment to source raw materials as locallyas possible.
  5. 5. The Bakery believes it is important to be local, think local and buy local! They quote We areyour local bakery, providing a unique range ofhigh quality products in our shops and to a widerange of commercial customers.
  6. 6. MY PITCH: Run a parallel fictional narrative/ non-fictionaldocumentary
  7. 7. Biblical theme: The good samaritanObviously Chelsea Road is a small community Butbread is the staple food and the bakery feeds thecommunity. The generosity of the bakery means thatafter the end of the day, they leave their bread outsideand people can make donations through the letterbox. Iwould like to do a short film on the difference this makesto the life of somebody who lives on the streets and see ifthe donations benefit them at all. I would like to link thiswith the story of The good samaritan and the fact thatwhat goes around comes around. The bread that helpsthe homeless man get up onto his feet then in later lifemakes him a loyal customer to the bakery and use itdaily.
  8. 8. Character Build-upThe main character in my story will the thebakerys most regular customer, he comesin every day chats to the owners and haslots of stories. He will be a well-known, lovedmember of the community. Throughout thenarrative it will flash back ten years to whenhe was homeless and living on the streets.Surprise investment when the bakery isstruggling.
  9. 9. How I took inspiration for my piece from the short films I found..Teeth humorous approach and black and whiteto highlight the message of the movieBlack and whiteMusic - composed soundtrack by myself changingfrom major to minor tonality back to major. Ablend of diegetic and non-diegetic soundMemories- flash backs into the past & sense of aleading character, following his journey.
  10. 10. Establishing shots Shots of the road sign, location, weather,Timelapse of a day at the bakery, different positions, people going in and out visual shots of bakeryclosing, lights switching off, blinds closing, breadbeing put out. Shots of regular customer, shot ofclock going backward.. ie going back in time.Doesnt focus on face of the homeless man untilthe end so you dont make the connection untilthe end with a close up shot.
