At the University of North Alabama, there are 13 months in our calendar. Between the months of August and September, there is an exciting time on campus called Mane Month. Across campus, multiple events and activities happen almost every day to welcome new faces and make new friends. You will find a schedule of these opportunities on the next few pages. Find the digital calendar at una.edu/manemonth.
Mane Month is coordinated by the
Student Engagement Center. Calendar details
are subject to change. Please refer to the website for updates. For
information or assistance, call 256-765-4248 or email [email protected].

If you have questions about an event and are in the GUC, stop by the office and ask one of our Student Leadership Consultants for assistance.
LUCKY DIP FESTIVALOn the first day of the fall semester,
students dip their pencil in the fountain for good luck and good grades. Last December, portions of the fountain collapsed. In August, it may be under construction. While there will not be a festival around the plaza, the Lucky Dip will continue. A portion of water from the original fountain was preserved to be poured in each of the smaller fountains surrounding the Harrison Plaza on the first day of class to assure the good luck and good grades can continue to flow to those who dip their pencils in these waters.
COLLEGE PANHELLENIC BID DAY REVEAL
One of the oldest campus traditions pre-dates Mane Month itself. Many women participate in College Panhellenic recruitment, and it culminates to the exiting moment when they “run home” from the Amphitheater Stage to their new sorority. (This event is canceled for this year.)
THE BIG DEALOn the first Thursday of fall classes,
businesses host tables around the heart of campus, and many students walk away with prizes including the grand prize from Listerhill.
NPHC CONVOCATIONEach year, the National Pan-Hellenic
Council has a general interest session known as Convocation. There, interested students are provided with information about NPHC fraternities and sororities.
LIONS LEND A HANDLions Lend a Hand is a service showcase
featuring campus and community organizations that are making a difference. This is an opportunity to learn more about how you can get involved locally.
GAME DAYEach year, Mane Month concludes with the
Celebration of Football Game Day! Tailgate activities begin several hours before kick-off. The University Program Council and Student Government host activities and distribute spirit items to cheer on the Lions during the Lion Walk and the Game.
CAMPUSTRADITIONS

All students should carry a face cloth covering at all times as there will be certain activities and zones that require face cloth coverings for admission into the event or activity space.
A complete list of the guidelines used to plan the activities can be found at una.edu/manemonth.
In this publication, you will also notice certain icons beside each event that identify the safety precautions that will need to be followed to participate in the event. They are designed to help you make better decisions about which events or activities you feel comfortable attending.
