The Round Lake Library has a great

collection of art books that feature the

works of many famous visual artists

throughout history. Yet there is a hid-

den gallery, with thousands of beauti-

fully created works, in an unexpected

place: the Children’s Room.

This month,

the Round Lake

Library is highlighting the work of twenty illustrators in

special displays at each location. Some of these illustra-

tors, like Maurice Sendak and Graeme Base, are famous.

Others, like Bruce Degen and Eric Carle, are better

known by their characters

(Miss Frizzle and the

Hungry Caterpillar). And

others still go largely

unknown—yet the work

of illustrators like Diane

DeGroat, Jane Dyer, and Eric Velasquez, make some

of our (and our children’s) favorite books stand out,

thanks to the beautiful, funny, and often quite

detailed illustrations.

We’ve chosen twenty of our favorite illustrators—

stop by either library and take a look! We hope you

enjoy looking at some of their art and take some time

to browse the Children’s Room for more hidden gems.
