Chaumont
• Kristin Goldsmith• French II Period 4
Information about the chateau
• Chaumont was built by Eudes II, Count of Blois, in the 10th century
• The chateau was built for the town of Blois
• The chateau was built with the purpose of serving as a fortress to protect Blois from attacks.
Three unique features of the château
• 1. The castle has from now on the shape of “U”.
• 2.
• 3
Two Important events:
• Benjamin Franklin was at some point a guest at the Castle.
• Château de Chaumont is currently a museum and every year hosts a Garden Festival from June to October where contemporary garden designers display their work in an English-style garden.
My opinion of the château • I like the Chateau de
Chaumont because it looks like a stereotypical castle. It actually reminds me of Cinderella’s castle in Disneyworld. I don’t think I would have liked to live there because it is too big. I would be too scared to go to sleep at night. I would probably have Branjelina move in with their 50,000 kids.
Château quiz 1. The castle was ------------------- in 1465 in accordance
with Louis XI's orders and was later rebuilt by Charles I d'Amboise from 1465-1475.
2. Château de Chaumont is currently a -----------.3. In 1750, Jacques-Donatien Le Ray purchased the
Castle as a country home where he established a glassmaking and pottery factory. He was considered the French “----------- --- ---- -------------- ------------------"
4. In 1789 the new French Revolutionary Government ------- Le Ray's assets, including his beloved Chateau de Chaumont.
5. Catherine de Médicis forced Diane de Poitiers to hand over --------------- in return for the Château de Chaumont.
If i lived in chaumont...• Nick Jonas (Prince Charming) and I would
move in with David and Posh, Madonna, and Brangelina. I would never be lonely.
• The rooms that weren’t being used would become game rooms, Build-a-Bear Workshops, and candy stores ( not for the use of the public).
• The front lawn would become a go kart track (also not for the public).
• The back lawn would become a giant swimming pool/ water park (definately not for the public).
