Gree ngs Brethren,
We have reached that me of the year when we say goodbye to our
snowbird friends. I wish each of you a safe trip home and look forward to your
return to Florida in the fall.
We had another busy and very successful month. I was honored to have
presented both a 25 year award to Br. Richard Tokarz and a Perpetual Mem‐
bership to Br. Dennis Taylor. Our EA degree master JW Gene Scheuring did an
outstanding job along with the whole degree team. I would like to also wel‐
come Jonathan Spyra into Venice Lodge as our newest EA.
On April 23rd we hosted a lodge clean‐up day. What a turn out we had!
There were around 25 people (brothers and ladies) in a endance. The amount
of work done was simply amazing and the lodge looks beau ful. We owe all of
you who helped out a big thank you.
On May 7th there will be a District 27 all lodge picnic and potluck at
Twin Lakes Park. The lodges will be providing hot dogs and hamburgers. We
are only asking to bring a side dish to share. Addi onally, on May 14th we are
scheduling a beach clean‐up day. Meet at 8:30 am in front of Sharky’s at the
Venice fishing pier. Please come out and join us for these two events. I know
it’s going to be a lot of fun with great fellowship.
Our secretary W:. Jerry Wadel had to resign due to some health rea‐
sons. We all wish him a speedy recovery. With that said, we are now in need of
a secretary. If any Brother is interested in this important posi on please con‐
tact me at [email protected].
Finally, the Henry Rifle Masonic Edi on Raffle ckets are now available.
The ckets are $10 each or 5 for $40 with all proceeds going to Tidwell Hos‐
pice. I urge you to please support this fund raiser that is so very close to my
heart.
Fraternally,
W:.M:. Mark R Bal more
FROM THE WEST

Brethren,
Once again it’s me for our Northern brethren to return home. We thank you for making Venice Lodge No. 301 your home away from home Lodge! Have a safe journey home and we look forward to your return next fall.
Congratula ons to Jonathan Spyra for receiving his Entered Appren ce De‐gree! Congratula ons also to Junior Warden Gene Scheuring, who sat in the East for the degree, and his degree team. Great job my Brothers!
Congratula ons also to Brother Richard Tokarz for receiving his pin for having completed 25 years of Masonic service!
We had a very successful Lodge cleanup day on Saturday, April 23rd. A big thank you to everyone who showed up and pitched in to help! (I believe 25 showed up to work ‐ a great turnout!) A special thank you to Lady Donna Noller, who painted for the en re me! We cleaned up both inside and outside our building. Good job to Junior Warden Gene and his helpers who provided our lunch! We had a great day of Masonic fellowship.
We are ready for a great charity fundraiser—our Commemora ve Masonic lever ac on .22 long rifle from Henry Arms. We expect to have the ckets for our mee ng on Monday, May 2nd. We are only selling 500 ckets at $10.00 per cket or 5 for $40.00. Again, all of the proceeds are going to Tidewell Hospice. We have had a lot of interest in this fundraiser and I don’t think it will take long before we sell out. This is a beau ful rifle that any Mason would be proud to have.
Here are some important dates for upcoming events:
Saturday, May 7th‐ District 27 picnic at Twin Lakes Park from 10 am to 2 pm
Saturday, May 14th‐ Beach clean‐up day. (Meet at Sharkey’s/Venice Pier at 8:30 am)
Monday, May 23rd‐ EA Degree for 3 new pe oners at 7 pm. SD Adam Kendall in the East.
Saturday, May 28th‐ Memorial Day Flag Placement, Sarasota Na onal Cemetery at 8:30 am, Ceremony will follow at 10 am.
Last but not least!! Happy Mother’s Day to all of our beau ful mothers on Sunday, May 8th!
Our next Stated Communica on will be held at the Lodge on Monday, May 2nd, 2016, star ng at 7:30 pm.
Fraternally,
Sco D. Steelman, Senior Warden

Gree ngs from the South,
Another month flew by. It seems we went from Winter directly into Summer!
Thanks to Brothers John Brandon & Vince Modi who made it possible to complete the inves ga ons of our three newest pe oners, Reid Pe t, Roger Moore and Gary Murray. These three pe ons are courtesy of the newly formed Crusaders Widow Sons, especially PM Hampton Crimi. Thank You.
What a wonderful pleasant suprise to see 20+ Brothers at the lodge cleanup Saturday the 23rd. Great job done by all, and we even ate lunch.
Brothers make sure you check the calendar for May as there are many things going on. Make a note of the Entered Appren ce degree to be held on May 23rd at 7:00pm. Come out and support the brothers working hard to hone their degree proficiency.

DRESS
Shall a Lodge require of its Officers that they wear formal dress? The wisdom of so doing depends en rely upon circum‐stances and is a point which it is the preroga ve of each cons tu‐ent Lodge to decide, though much may be said in favor of formal dress “cutaway coat,” tuxedo, or full evening dress, since it is a mark of respect to the Fraternity.
In any event, one thing is certain: if any of the Officers are required to wear formal a re all the Officers should wear it with‐out excep on; and if he and his colleagues wear it, the Worshipful Master should use a hat to correspond not a so hat, straw hat, or a cap.
The members will dress according to private taste and it is proper that they enter the Lodge Room with apron properly ar‐ranged beforehand, and any other regalia, jewels, etc., in due or‐der.
The custom prevails in some Lodges of having the Worship‐ful Master wear one type of dress (clothing) while the other Offic‐ers wear different styles of dress. The harmony of good taste will be be er served if all dress alike.
There is a philosophy in dress as in so many other things, and the dress proper to Masonic occasion is no excep on. Its principle is good taste; its prac ce is to wear such a re as shows respect to the Brotherhood and expresses the dignity of Masonry.

Brethren:
Sales of the Florida Masonic Tag have, to date, been less than the State requires in order to continue offering a specialty tag. Please support the effort to raise much needed funds for the Masonic Home by purchasing a Florida Masonic Li-cense Tag when it is time to renew. It is only an extra $25.00! Choosing the Ma-sonic Tag will ensure this tag remains available for us to show our support of the Craft as well as the Masonic Home.
