Message From The President

Hi Everyone,

We have been in Boston for the last 3 weeks helping my daughter and son-in-law

with their new son, our first grandson. What a terrific experience. Allen and I

returned to Lincoln and it will be incredibly hard knowing we won't see them

again for at least several months.

While I haven't been to any meetings in about a month, I've still been thinking

about all of you and have spoken to several of you about a variety of Kiwanis

related topics. Our Valentine's Day Dinner and Dance has been, of course,

foremost on our minds and we heard it was a huge success. I am so happy with

how far we came in terms of Ticket Sales and the list of incredible Auction Items

we had to offer. None of that happened without an immense amount of work from

a lot of you. Thank you so much. Allen and I will be there next Friday, and hope

to see you all.

Thank you again for all you do.

I'm looking forward to a fantastic year making a difference in our community.

Beth

Wow! What an event! This was a great fundraiser for our club. This was our first year and we sold 127 tickets (4

did not attend and 3 were purchased as a donation), we had Twenty Five Silent Auction Items, and Four Deluxe Live

Auction Items. Special thanks to Lou Hill, Chair of the Valentine’s Dinner & Dance and all the Committee Members

who make this event so wonderful.

A good time was had by all. Food was excellent, great friends, good music. What else could you ask for? Maybe a

few dignitaries? City of Lincoln Mayor Peter Gilbert and Councilman Dan Karleskint, and Carlin C. Coppin

Elementary School Principal Shamryn Coyle, attended our event. We do not have the Final Net Profit Proceeds yet,

more details at our next meeting.

Valentine’s Cards Sales - January and the first part of February have been busy months! K-Kids made Posters,

Flyers and made morning announcements at school to announce their first fundraiser—selling Handmade Valentine’s

Cards by the K-Kids. The K-Kids sold cards for a 25 Cents each. The proceeds will be donated to the Society for the

Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Kids had great fun making cards and exchanging ideas. This fundraising activity

helped the kids build skills on how to raise money for a project (SPCA). Task lists were created, deadlines set and

volunteers list were created. And we needed some money to start with.

March for March at the Kiwanis Family House on March 11th - K-Kids are getting pledges for the number of

laps they plan on walking around the Kiwanis Family House. Our goal is to have a minimum of 15 K-Kids and 10

Kiwanians. We are working on getting carpools for the kids as well as the Kiwanians. More details to follow.

April 1, 2017 Kiwanis One Day has become one of the most important days on the Kiwanis calendar. That is because, worldwide,

Kiwanis clubs are showing off their best service work. What is Kiwanis One Day? It’s a day of service — not

fundraising or socializing.

The more hands we have helping, the more lives we will touch. Any project, big or small, is worth tackling. Projects

include anything from building playgrounds to volunteering at a shelter to stocking shelves at a food pantry.

Kiwanis One Day Projects Should:

• Be hands-on.

• Make a noticeable difference in your community.

• Involve a majority of your club’s membership, prospective members and their families, as well as sponsored CKI,

Key Club, Builders and K-Kids Clubs.

• Make an impact in your community that deserves news media coverage.

• Raise awareness about your club and Kiwanis International.

Choose your service project and join Kiwanians worldwide for Kiwanis One Day, don’t miss out on being a part of

this day of global community service. Kiwanians will give more than one million volunteer hours on this special day

to improve their communities and the lives of children in countless nations.
