Welcome to the Hassebrook Charolais Farm’s Third Annual Bull Sale, Once again it has been another wild year at HCF. As I am writing this, I find myself in the same place as many of you, busy with calving in one of the most challenging winter and springs of my lifetime. The lifestyle of a cattleman is not easy in near perfect conditions, as we all can attest. But then when we throw in subzero temperatures one week and rain, 70 degree afternoons and then a blizzard the next week, it sure seems to make chores a little more difficult. We as livestock producers are known for being resilient, and I believe in these ever challenging times it is important to keep our heads up, stay positive, and keep looking toward the future. We all know it is hard to lose one animal let alone many regardless of the weather conditions. But when I can still go out to the barn and see a newborn calf stand up for the first time, even the harshest conditions cannot keep me from being hopeful about the days to come. Challenging as it may be some days, we live a truly blessed life as livestock producers. Because Mother Nature doesn’t seem to want the mud to dry up even in the slightest around here, we made the decision to move this year’s HCF sale from the farm by Genoa to the Albion Livestock Market in Albion, NE. It may be a new venue, but the emphasis we have placed on performance and quality of the cattle will remain unchanged. As I have said before, when we started raising Charolais cattle we had one main goal: to make them better. For those of you who have been at our previous sales, I hope you can agree that we continue making strides toward that goal. We are beyond excited about this set of bulls and the future that they have. I realize that you as buyers have lots of options when it comes to purchasing your herd bulls and we appreciate your interest in our program. The responsibility of providing seed stock to your operation is a responsibility that we do not and never will take lightly. We take pride in trying to offer bulls that will fit your operation and positively affect your bottom line. We have stringent standards for any bull that comes into our operation to breed cows, and we main those same standards when it comes to bulls from our herd that will go into someone else’s operation. I truly believe that buying a bull is making an investment into the future of your herd. We feel confident these bulls will fit the bill.
