DID YOU KNOW?At 50-12 UTEP is one of only 29 squads nationally to have 50 or more victories since2006. To truly appreciate how impressive it is to have achieved that feat at UTEP,consider that prior to Keitha Adams’ arrival the highest triumph total for a two-yearperiod was 29. That number was nearly matched by the 2007-08 team alone.

MINER NOTEBOOK

e Entering her junior year, point guard Jareica Hughes is already the onlyplayer in program history to have compiled more than 800 points, 300assists and 100 steals. She is rapidly climbing the career charts at UTEP,as she ranks third in steals (166), fourth in assists (308), seventh in three-pointers made (73) and 13th in points (816). Making it moreimpressive is the fact that she could break school standards in all ofthose categories, with the exception of triples made, this year.

e It is the golden age of women’s basketball at UTEP. The Miners haveracked up an astonishing 50 wins the past two seasons, including aninstitution-tying (men or women) 28 victories during the historic 2007-08campaign. At 50-12 UTEP is one of only 29 squads nationally, and one ofa mere 12 non-BCS teams, to have 50 or more victories since 2006.

e Keitha Adams enters the 2008-09 season with a career record of 105-101 in seven years at UTEP. That effort already ranks her second alltime at the institution for victories, and it is possible that she will breakthat standard this year. Sandra Rushing boasts the most career triumphsfor the Miner, with 123. It should be noted, though, that Rushingcompiled those 123 wins over 11 years, while Adams is entering hereighth year at the helm of the program.
