Co-founded by Sr. Dorothy Gallant, SC, twenty five years ago, LEFSA is a unique city-wide program that creates faith communities with homeless people in shelters, drop-in centers, a drug rehabilitation program and an HIV/AIDS residence. It fills a critical void for those in the citys’ shelter system who are offered a cot and perhaps a meal, without the spiritual support necessary for climbing out of poverty.

The mission of the Sisters Hill Farm is “to grow healthy food which nurtures bodies, spirits, communities, and the earth.” Another important part of the SHF’s mission is to share our harvest with those in need.

Under the direction of Sr. Mary Ann Garisto, SC, Sisters Hill Farm donates a portion of its fresh, organic produce each week to individual families, soup kitchens, and to organizations serving the materially disadvantaged in six New York counties.

These food offerings are a natural extension of the Sisters of Charity’s service to the poor. In an average year, Farmer Dave and his two interns, harvest 60,000 pounds of produce from 140 acres.

The Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center is committed to changing the lives of medically fragile children, one child at a time. All programs are centered on children and their families, respecting individual cultural beliefs and practices. The children admitted to the Center enters a Neighborhood where he/she receives team-based trans-disciplinary care, including medicine, nursing, social services, palliative care, mental health, rehabilitation, education, nutrition, child life/therapeutic activity, pastoral care and more.

POTS is a program widely recognized for its unwavering commitment to addressing root causes of poverty, always in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. Its mission is to be a loving community that nourishes the basic needs and hungers of all who seek assistance. POTS services include a Community Dining program that serves hundreds of hot meals each day, a clothing program, a food pantry serving over 600 families a month, medical care, pastoral counseling, psychotherapy, free legal services and more.
