Connotations:An idea or feeling that a word
invokes
• Over the next three lessons you will be planning a charity advert for sport relief.
• You will then have to pitch your vision for the advert to a carefully chosen panel of judges.
• Which ever group has the best advert and the best pitch will win the competition and be crowned the most persuasive group in the whole of QEHS.
• The first step towards creating a persuasive advert is to know what you are talking about, therefore you are going to have to do your research!
• Each of you has some information about Sport Relief, read what is written then condense and summarise what is written in 20 words exactly.
• Report back to the rest of your group what you found out.
• Before we write our charity adverts we must think very carefully about the structure.
• Does anyone know the rough structure of a charity advert?
• Charity adverts are normal split up into three sections
PART ONE: THE PROBLEM
PART TWO: HOW THE PROBLEM CAN BE SOLVED
PART THREE: HOW CAN YOU HELP?

• Watch the advert for Water Aid and keep an eye out for all the persuasive techniques they use.
• Everyone in the group is now going to attempt to write a script for a charity advert.
• It is really important that you don’t tell anyone else what your ideas are, because you will be combining your fab efforts later into one super advert.
• Share your ideas with the rest of your group.
• Form a collaborative advert which includes aspects of every plan.
