One-off grants towards disability equipment to help with mobility, independence and earning power, usually in the range of £100 to £1,000. No grants for equipment supplied by NHS or social services, equipment running costs, building adaptations or decorating, household equipment, holidays or computers unless used as a speech aid or to enable the individual to earn their living.

People over 16 who are disabled in the UK.

Must be submitted through a sponsor who can confirm the equipment is suitable for the individual and has knowledge of disability for example an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist or in the case of equipment related to communication, a speech and language therapist. . The professional should write to the Honorary Secretary describing the applicant’s circumstances and what equipment is needed and why. If appropriate, a full application form will then be sent out. Applications are considered in January, April, July and October.

Grants wishes to children who must be able to choose and articulate the wish for themselves and not have received a wish from another wish granting organisation.

Seriously or terminally ill children aged 4-18 years who are UK residents.

Anyone can refer a child by completing a referral form on their website, or downloading one and returning it by post or email address. Starlight cannot accept referrals by telephone, but if you have any questions please call the number above.

Grants wishes and dreams to children who are terminally or seriously ill.

Children with a terminal, life-limiting or degenerative condition, children for whom independent living is unlikely to ever be a possibility. Children must be aged 0-18 years, be UK residents and have not had a wish from them before.

Parent or legal guardian must complete an application form available on the website. Need two signed letters of support - the first must be from the child’s GP or consultant and the second can be from anyone else in a supporting role who holds a title of authority, for example the child’s Social Worker, Community Nurse, School Teacher or Physiotherapist.You will need to send in three quotes for the dream you are applying for – for more information visit the website.
