LETTER FROM THE DIRECTORGreetings in the name of Jesus!Thank you for your interest in attending Charis Bible College Toronto. My husband and I know from our own experience that this is both an exciting prospect and a challenging adventure. However, we are convinced that the experience of attending this college will be well worth any changes you have to make.

Someone once asked us the question, “What are you doing with the next two years of your life and how will that impact the Kingdom of God?” At the time, we were committed to a church, but still couldn’t give an answer to this question. We decided that Charis was the stepping-stone that God had put in our path to take us from where we were, to making an impact on the world!

Daniel 11:32 says, “The people that do know their God will be strong, and do exploits”. That is what Charis gave us – an opportunity to sit under the Word of God and really get to know who He is in us and who we are in Him, so that we can go out and show the world.

This is a life-changing experience and we know that you will blessed as you allow Him to show you more of His love and plan for your life.

Following this letter is all the information you will need to submit your application to join us at Charis Bible College Toronto. If you have any questions, please visit our website at charisbiblecollege.ca or contact us.

We look forward to seeing you!

STANDARDS OF DRESS CODE AND CONDUCTSTANDARDS OF PROGRESSCharis Bible College has three basic standards by which student growth is measured: grace, servanthood, and character. Detailed below are “guideposts” by which the working out of these truths may be measured, not a formula by which these qualities may be attained. As believers, we already possess everything we need in Christ, but we must yield our souls and bodies so that these qualities are manifested in our thoughts and actions.

Grace: “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, according as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” (2 Peter 1:2-3)

Charis is the Greek word for grace. The grace of God is God’s favour given to every believer who, by faith, puts his or her trust in Jesus Christ. Grace is multiplied in your life as you relate with other people. The grace of God is manifested through you as you are willing to listen and understand the heart of your teachers and fellow students, as you exercise patience and forgiveness, as you see the best in people and overlook human faults, and as you are enabled to work with those you may disagree with.

Servanthood: As disciples of Jesus, students at Charis Bible College value and walk in humility and servanthood. They are willing to put the needs of others ahead of their own desires, and find opportunities to serve the school, staff, fellow students, and others.

Character: It is defined by the example of our Lord Jesus Christ and further explained by the writers of the Bible. This is measured by your attendance record, faithfulness in paying tuition, obeying rules, and living by the highest moral and ethical standards.

DRESS CODEModesty and good taste are the principal guidelines for all students while on campus or representing Charis. We realize that there are cultural differences regarding acceptable attire, so if you have any concern about the dress code, please speak to the Director. Business-casual dress for men and women that is clean and neat is appropriate for classes and daily campus activities. Guidelines for the dress code will be adapted to meet the requirements of other occasions, such as conferences, mission trips, walkathons, etc. Occasionally, circumstances may dictate a more formal dress. On such occasions, dresses for ladies are appropriate. Suits, or sport coats with ties, are considered formal for men.

CONDUCTWe expect every student of Charis Bible College to conduct themselves in agreement with the teachings of Jesus, both on and off campus, at all times while enrolled as a student.

DOCTRINAL STATEMENTTHE SCRIPTURES We believe that all of Scripture (both the Old and New Testament) is verbally inspired by God and is our final authority in all matters pertaining to doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

GODWe believe in only one true God: One in essence, nature, and attributes, but existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7).

JESUS CHRISTWe believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, of His shed blood on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins, and of His bodily resurrection and ascension to the Father’s right hand. We do not believe that He is simply “a” way to the Father, but rather the only way (John 14:6) through which we can receive righteousness, regeneration, sanctification, and glorification. He is, in fact, our salvation (1 Corinthians 1:30-31).

HOLY SPIRITWe believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, expressed with speaking in tongues according Acts 1:8; 2:4; 9:17; 10:44-46; 11:15-16; 19:6. We believe this experience is distinct from, and subsequent to, the new birth, and can be received by faith (Galatians 3:2).

SALVATIONWe believe that all who, in repentance and faith, receive the Lord Jesus as their Saviour and Lord are born again (Acts 20:20-21; Rom 10:9-13).

HEALING: We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross has provided healing for the human body (Matthew 8:16-17; Isaiah 53:4; 1 Peter 2:24).

THE RESURRECTIONWe believe in the resurrection of the just and the unjust; one to everlasting life and one to everlasting damnation (Matthew 25:46).

THE SECOND COMINGWe believe in a literal, physical second return of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:10; 4:16-17).

THE CHURCHWe believe that the universal church is comprised of all true believers who have received salvation through Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23). We also believe in and encourage fellowship with a local church (Hebrews 10:25).

GIFTS OF THE SPIRITWe believe that spiritual gifts and manifestations of the Holy Spirit are for the common good and building up of others today (1 Corinthians 12:7).
