OUR SOAPOur media production is a soap opera based around the going on within a football club. In this production we will have several key characters that will be the main protagonists of the soap and the storylines in each episode will be centred around the everyday lives of these players. For our character profiles I have summarised the five main characters from the soap and given a little insight into the most intimate and interesting parts of their lives.

TONY BROWNThe manager for the Squad. He has had the taste of managing the first team but he likes the challenge of training and spotting fresh talent. Tony is a shifty character, he is strong-minded and he knows how to get the results that he wants from the team. He is very trusting and a ruthless manager amongst/towards the lads, he is very firm and authoritative with most people he meets. He has a daughter called Lucy who is a budding new sports presenter. When internal issues are heavily publicised by the media something needs to be done to get rid of them, the owner decides the team needs a revamp and uproots the team from the London outskirt and to the heart of a town with a tight knit community. Tony then finds himself in charge of the first team, and he is handed the reigns to the team in dire form. Lying, cheating and unscrupulous behaviour seem to be the winning formula to getting back on top for tony.

JOHNNY DUNHAMJohnny is one of many new signings brought in to boost the team. On Johnny’s arrival he was tipped by his own manager to not only be the teams top striker but one of the top in the country. Along with bagging goals for his team, he spends the rest of his time bagging the local ladies on his nights out. Being so young and being in such a powerful position in celebrity society football seems to have taken a back seat and been substituted for ‘birds and booze’. Johnny is from a working class background and this is evident in his ‘rough around the edges’ personality. He has made enemies with some of the older players and other important people at the club (often due to his carnal endeavours).

ENRIQUESimply known as Enrique the history of this character is rather shrouded and secretive. Enrique is the clubs recent foreign signing from Columbia. His hot Latin blood acts as an aphrodisiac for the entire female population of the town. He is average in height and for a footballer he is relatively skinny (making him a target for ridicule among other players).Although touchy about his past he is an incredibly bubbly character always talking and laughing with other players. He is extremely popular among the majority of his team mates, he has a long standing feud with other key character Ricky (Essex) due to the fact he is having a ‘less than secretive’ affair with Ricky's fiancé (Saskia). Saskia eventually breaks it off but Enrique refuses to listen to her and tries to get Saskia back at any cost (which is bad news for Ricky).

SASKIA LAMBERTSaskia is near enough a member of the squad if we take into account her ‘involvement’ with pretty much every player in the team in her younger years as club doctor. Saskia got engaged to clubs most senior hatchet man Ricky (who seemed to put his girlfriends less than perfect past behind him). Saskia has a very slender figure with wide hips, long blonde hair and will never be seen without perfect make up, in other words she is the carbon copy of a footballers wife. However don’t be fooled by her good looks and promiscuity, she is a fully qualified medical doctor and shows unrivalled intelligence when conversing (or even arguing) with other people at the club.

RICKY ESSEXRichard Essex (only ever referred to as Ricky) is the longest serving player for the club having played there since he was 9 years old. He lives and breathes football and runs the team with an iron fist (useful to remember when you realise his nickname is Hatchet). He is a very traditional Englishmen, unfortunately his belief that foreign players coming to play in England is ruining the game has caused a lot of tension between himself and foreign players. His bad boy mentality and rugged good looks made him an extremely eligible bachelor up until last year when he fell in love with the promiscuous Saskia. Completely against his usual character he decided to put her past behind them and move forward as a couple (or so he thought). He later on finds out about the passionate affair between Saskia and Enrique and we witness ‘Hatchet’ at his ruthless pinnacle.
