Character Book Report

Directions: Select a book that you have NOT read before that is at least

150 pages. Begin reading right away – this project will be due in six weeks

and the visual component will take you some time to complete. Choose one of the below options for your visual component. Choose one of the below options for your summary component.

Visual Component Options (30 points):

Farcebook Page:o For this option you will create a Farcebook Poster page)

for your character. Your poster must be at least 12 x 18 (large construction paper works well). You must include the following:

Basic info (name, hometown, family members, political and religious views, age/birthday, gender, relationship status, interests, favorite quote, favorite book, favorite music, activities, interests, ‘about me’, school info, work info.)

A drawing of your character A friends list (you must show at least 6 friends (with

photos or drawings) – they don’t have to be characters in your book, they could be characters from books or TV shows that you think would get along with your main character.)

Wall posts – you must include at least 10 wall posts from your main character or their ‘friends’. Posts

must be related to the book or interactions between the characters.

Character in a Can:o For this option you will create a doll to represent your

main character. Be creative – you can use an old water bottle, fabric, yarn, buttons, popsicle sticks, Styrofoam balls, beads, and other items from around the house to make your doll. You must include:

A handmade doll that represents your character (looks, clothing, etc.)

The doll must be placed in a can (use a clean soup can).

One the can you will tape or glue a written description of your character that will include a description of your character’s physical appearance, behavior, thoughts, feelings, personality, and what others think of the character.

Character Accordion Booko For this option, you will create a six (or more) section

accordion style book. The front and back covers must be creatively designed to show off your main character.

o You must include a minimum of six sections Physical description Intelligence (Are they considered smart [or not]?

Why? How do you know? Social Relations (How do they get along with

others?) Emotional (Are they generally happy, sad, angry,

etc.? Give examples from the text to support your answers.)

One page must be a drawing of your character (COLOR!!!)

One page must include basic info for your book (title, author, genre, characters, setting, etc.)

Summary Options (20 points):

o Oral Presentation For this option you must present your visual

component AND give an oral summary of your novel. Summaries should include information from the beginning, middle, and end of your book and should last 2-5 minutes.

o Written Summary

For this option you must complete a book report summary. You will use a format that I have and discuss the characters, beginning, middle, and end of your book, as well as who you would suggest it to.
