Chapter President MSgt (Ret) Terry Turner, and his Executive Counci l , presents the fol lowing summary of accomplishments/activit ies during the month of October 2011

1. Our Annual Spring Dance for Special Needs Adults has been held on Tinker AFB where we had a burger fry, dance and gave each of these special attendees a stuffed animal. This 7th annual event for 2011 was our second year to make the event a “road trip” to the homes rather than have the residents bused in by their staffs. The project involved 7 volunteers – Homie the Clown (Doug Bynum), C-R-A-Z-Y Bob (Mike Devenitch), Sound Man (Terry Turner), Photographer (Lisa Muth) and Dancers/Helpers (Joanne Compton, Chintalah Devenitch and Brett Karp). Our “road show” visited a home in 4 cities (Del City, Moore, Guthrie and Okarche, Oklahoma) traveling a total of 535 miles with 3 POVs and took an 8-hour day to visit the over 200 residents (adults/staff). President Terry Turner extends a personal thank you to Mike Devenitch and Doug Bynum for planning and coordinating this successful event. The joy of the recipients was priceless – truly a blessing – this is what it’s all about!! (See photos below):

1. Airman Activities Program obtained 2 volunteers for the Military Welcome Center at Will Roger's Airport in Oklahoma City. This Center is the hub where Army Basic Training Graduates pass through each week on their way to their next duty station. 4. Trustees Michael Mooney, Trustee Doug Bynum and President Terry Turner briefed the importance of AFSA’s role in promoting and protecting earned benefits of the Air Force total enlisted force and their families, the resulting legislative process, and local chapter activities at base FTAC. They briefed 14 attendees, which resulted in 7 new members, and 3 changes of address. 6. Conducted Executive Council Meeting. 8. Airman Activities Coordinator obtained 3 volunteers for the Military Welcome Center at Will Roger's Airport. Volunteers help with tasks such as housekeeping, phones, and food offering a relaxing place for over 6K traveling service members and their dependents. 8. Airman Activities Program obtained 5 volunteers to help at the Norman VA Hospital where VFW 8706 hosts Bingo. Volunteers helped to serve drinks, handed out snacks, and visited with the veterans. 12. Lokovic Dinner. President Terry Turner organized a dinner at Sante Fe Steakhouse for our important visitor CMSgt (Ret) James Lokovic, Vice Chair of AFSA International Legislative Committee. Ten members/guests attended: (L) Trustee Lisa Muth, Command CMSgt Kevin Vegas, Command CMSgt Eddie Compton, Keiko Bynum and Trustee Doug Bynum; (R) President Terry Turner, Cathy Ossinger, VP Tim Ossinger, Chief Lokovic, and past Chapter VP Mike Devenitch.  13. Conducted Chapter 985 General Membership (GM) meeting. The September Chapter Legislative Report and prior minutes were available to attendees as handouts. The agenda was brief to permit additional time for our special guest and distinguished speaker CMSgt (Ret) James Lokovic to present his outstanding power point legislative briefing on the legislative process and quality-of-life issues. President Terry Turner presented door prizes to the following winners: Chris Huckins, Erin Huckins, Jose Magana, Sara Tallman and Tina Tafolla. President Terry Turner also presented Chief Lokovic a memento of our appreciation (photos follows): 13. Lokovic AM, General Membership, PM & ALS Briefings: AM Top 3 - 13 attendees, recruited 4 (2 lifetime); General Membership - 25 attendees, 1 new members (Retired SMSgt), PM, 24 attendees; and ALS - 42 attendees recruited 2 new members and 1 change of address update (had already briefed ALS, prior date).

15. Airman Activities Program coordinated 8 volunteers in support of the 2011 Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure. Volunteers worked to register the 4.8K participants who took part in the 5K Race in downtown OKC. The 18th

Annual Komen Oklahoma City fundraiser brought in $1.1 million for research and development. 15. Airman Activities Program coordinated 2 volunteers for the Military Welcome Center located at OKC Airport. Every weekend, MWC provides our military members a place to rest and fill their stomachs at no cost during layovers. 17. Historian Don Sullivan and Treasurer Mary Rokitka prepared the 3rd quarter Activities & Americanism and Financial reports. President Terry Turner reviewed, approved and emailed them to Division 89 President Dale Lutzen for AFSA and Debra Kirby, 72FSS/FSRO for our PO folder. 18. Trustees Michael Mooney and President Terry Turner briefed the importance of AFSA’s role in promoting and protecting earned benefits of the Air Force total enlisted force and their families, the resulting legislative process, and local chapter activities at base FTAC. They briefed 12 attendees, which resulted in 9 new members. 19. Donated $100.00 to Carl Albert HS AFJROTC for their military ball when their funding was suddenly cut. 20. Trustee Michael Mooney briefed the importance of AFSA’s role in promoting and protecting earned benefits, the legislative process and current quality-of-life issues in jeopardy to 55 attendees at SNCOPES. About 20 were already members. Of the roughly 35 left over, 16 signed up on the spot, 1 for lifetime and 6 applications to be

picked up. 21. Chapter 985 donated $100.00 to the SNCO Induction Ceremony. CMSgt Michael Maynard represented the chapter at that event this evening. 22. Airman Activities Program obtained 2 volunteers to help at Will Rogers Airport Military Welcome Center. Volunteers greeted Army Basic Trainee Graduates as they pass through Oklahoma City on their way to Advanced Individual Training. 24. President Terry Turner prepared and emailed our AFSA annual IRS F990 Group Filing Form for CY2011 to Division 89 President Lutzen for forwarding to AFSA. 25. President Terry Turner, assisted by members Christopher Door and Paul Napolitano briefed the importance of AFSA’s role in promoting and protecting earned benefits of the Air Force total enlisted force and their families, the resulting legislative process, and local chapter activities at base FTAC. They briefed 12 attendees, which resulted in 9 new members and 3 changes of address. 26. Airman Activities Program coordinated 3 volunteers for Infant Crisis Services, Inc. Annual Luncheon. Volunteers helped to get the warehouse back in order to service clients after the luncheon. The ICS luncheon raised enough money to feed 1600 babies in the Oklahoma City area. 27. President Terry Turner represented the chapter at ALS Graduation. Chapter 985 is the sole sponsor of the Tinker AFB Airman Leadership School John Levitow Award. 27. Airman Activities Program supported Infant Crisis Services, Inc. in Oklahoma City by providing 4 volunteers to count diapers, food, and formula. Monthly inventory is necessary to account for these items which service 6K struggling families each year. 28. Top 3 President Keith Scott briefed AFSA coming events at the Top 3 meeting this date, including time and place of our monthly general membership meetings. 29. Airman Activities Program obtained 3 volunteers for the YMCA Military Welcome Center at Will Rogers Airport in OKC. Open since June 2007, this center provides over 250 military members a place to rest during layovers every weekend and relies on dedicated volunteers to help keep the doors open. 29. Airman Activities Program obtained 20 volunteers to pick up trash in the Tinker AFB Airpark to enhance and maintain its attractiveness for the over 20k military and civilian employees and countless visitors. 31. President Terry Turner distributed 4 AFSA On-Call Notices, 1 AFSA Alert, 3 CMSgt (Ret) Lokovic’s Visit/Briefings, 1 Okla. State Senate Dist. 43 Special Election, 1 Div. 89 Membership Incentive Notice, 1 AFSA General Membership Meeting Minutes and Reminder, 1 Executive Council Minutes, 1 AFSA Team

Tinker Monthly Newsletter, and 1 Chapter Monthly Legislative Report via our web site list server to over 3,500 subscribers. 31. Airman Activities Program distributed 6 notices via our list server to over 3,500 subscribers offering volunteer opportunities for the World Airport YMCA Military Welcome Center (12), Infant Crisis Inventory (4), Susan G. Komen (8), Airpark Cleanup (20), Infant Crisis Fundraiser (4), and VFW Post 8706 VA Hospital Bingo (5).

31. Trustee Michael Mooney reporter a membership summary for October 2011 as follow: 32 new members recruited resulting in a total of 403 new members recruited year-to-date from 8 different recruiters; and a total strength of 1,830 total members (1,698 active and 132 lapsed).

♦ 2 members retained by chapter retainers, 43 YTD from 3 retainers. Trustee Michael Mooney contacted 127 of 132 members on the termination roster (128 via email – 5 had no contact information) for a 96% contact rate.

♦ Michael Mooney reported 73 of 110 members on the Bad Address List were contacted via e-mail with no response updates yet. Further contacts are ongoing.

♦ Year-to-date: Three Sky-HIGHERS; Terry Turner, Christopher Coffee and Michael Mooney. 31. Trustee/Web Site Content Manager Lisa Muth reports we had 168 unique visitors to our web site in October plus an increase to a total of 3,500 subscribers.
