    Rates and Unit Rates

  • 2

    Happy Thursday!!!!

     Today we will take pretest

We will define: rate and  unit rate

We will calculate unit rate by finding heartbeat

  • 3

Happy Friday!!!By the end of today you should be able to:

    1) identify the difference between a rate and a unit rate

    2) Convert a rate into a unit rate

***** If you haven't taken the Ch 4 test or the Ch 5 pre-test yet, please see me!

    To Do:

    1) Open Notebook to Notes Section and head it "UNIT RATES"

    2) Write down HW

    3) Wait quietly :)

    Similar Figures

Find Scale FactorOnce you know the figures are similar...

simplify one of the ratios of the corresponding sides and you've found your scale factor.

*Make ratios of corresponding sides*simplify *see if the ratios are in proportion

if yes, similar if no, not similar

*Make proportion using ratios of corresponding sides*solve proportion using cross products

    Use a Scale Model

MURALS An artist is painting a large mural of flowers on the side of a school. If she uses the scale 4 inches = 1 inch, how large will the mural painting of a rose bloom be if it is inches high?

    Example 2 CYP

    A.40 in.

    B.55 in.

    C.60 in.

    D.80 in.

FURNITURE A full-size model is being created from a child-size rocking chair which has a height of 15 inches. If the scale to be used is

4 inches = 1 inch, what is the height of the model?
